Hi Bobby, my heat mat is underneath my large outdoor bin (Gilligan). I keep a thermostat on it so the temperature doesn't run out of control. I started my RUclips channel to show my granddaughter my worms - now we have three grandchildren. Best time of my life! Congratulations 🎉 🥳

Thanks Sandra! That's awesome that you're sharing your worm journey with your grandkids. Heck I have my first one on the way a baby boy!!
That’s why I said I don’t trust the ones that come with it, I keep a check on mine.. Thanks for watching 🤗🤗

Your worms look amazing! You’re definitely going to have castings to use / sell come Spring. It’s amazing how hard worms work. When’s your grandson due to arrive? How exciting!

My worms are in 7 bins in a 40-degree basement waiting for spring. I may put a heat mat on some of them in a week or two. This morning it was -14-degrees outside, and I do not want to wake them too early. Wisconsin

That is a smart move, let them sleep until the real Spring arrives.

0 Degree F here tonight. I'm done with winter and ready to move on to Spring and better weather.
I have had my European worms for a month and I haven't seen a single cocoon. Is that normal to not see cocoons for a month after setting up and they were nice mature worm? I'd really like to get enough worms for fishing and feeding my chickens.

Yes it is, they have to get used to their new environment, when the conditions for them are right they will start producing. I don’t know how wet your bin may be but ,ENC like a moist bin. Try running it a little bit wetter than you have it and see how it does.🪱🪱🪱

@@nusoilwormfarm7980 I didn't want to sour the bed but i did check and it is needing a little moisture as the shredded cardboard soaked up the extra. The temp is doing well and they are very active near the top. Thanks
