  • What should we think of a 14-year-old who is being heavily accused of characteristics that resemble a Pharisee? What could be the cause of this? Is this persecution, or could there be some validity to these accusations?

Update: The young brother who sent in the question gave us a response as to the Lord's continued work in his life, in part he wrote, "I did start going back to the youth group; after I asked my question and thought long and hard, I repented and asked God to humble me and make me more loving like Christ. About a month after going back to the youth group, my youth pastor said he's seen a change in my character. That's good news. While there has been a change, I'm still striving to grow in this area of humility. Once again, thank you for your email, and also Pastor Tim for His answering my question. God bless you guys."

Doctrine…………….of God do you keep it ?
Or have you blasphemed it ?
      1 Timothy 6:1
“Let as many servants as are under
      the yoke
count their own masters worthy of all honour,
      that the name of God
      And
      his
      doctrine
      be not blasphemed.”
      1 Timothy 6:3
      “If any man teach otherwise,
and consent not to wholesome words,
      even the words
      of our Lord Jesus Christ,
      and to the
      doctrine
      which is according to godliness;”
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
      Deuteronomy 32:2
      “My doctrine
      shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass:”
      Matthew 7:28
“And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended
      these sayings,
      the people were astonished
      at his doctrine:”
      John 7:16
      “Jesus answered them, and said,
      My doctrine
      is not mine,
      but his that sent me.”
      Deuteronomy 32:1
      “Give ear, O ye heavens,
      and I will speak;
      and hear,
      O earth,
      the words of my mouth.”
      Proverbs 4:2
      “For I give you
      good doctrine,
      forsake ye not
      my law.”
      Bless you

Glad hes changing but even if hes walking rightly there will be the false Christians who will try to bring him down and still call him these things as hes speaking the truth. If hes in a good church then he should be ok but if hes in a church with mostly false Christians it can be a nightmare. at 29 saved with 10 hours of going to church i tried so hard to do what was right and share the truth as much as i could but made many enemy's. Young brother please find a godly man to help you and teach you as i still desire this as im willing to change anything thats wrong but sadly we dont always see our faults until later on and with such regret but God is graceful. If you find a group of Saints that are truly born again i would ask them if theres anything in your walk that you need to work on please let me know and dont be afraid to correct me.

Im 15 years old. Being a young Christian in this age with all the worldlyness in public school is impossible. Help me and pray for me please I as well am kind of a judgment person and make crude jokes at times and always feel guilty afterwards. The Lord is working this sin out in me and its getting better but i still need help and prayers.

You are on the right track for we are made free. Ask The Father to send the Holy Spirit to baptize you! For if you ask in His name it shall be given unto you! It took me until my 40's to have this to happen. Keep being the light of the world, the salt when needed, and learn spiritual warfare. Jesus did this during His testimony! For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers not of this world. It only takes faith of a mustard seed. Read Peter walking on water with Jesus! Have no doubt for evil wants you to doubt and will give you fleeting thoughts! Rebuke them in Jesus name and they shall flee from you! God bless you.

Thou shalt know them by their fruits. Without knowing what his fruits are like, we can’t really say if he’s being pharisaical or toxic. He appears to be highly intelligent for one. And maybe he just speaks the truth, as Jesus did. And the world hates him for it.
There is a lack of evidence for any judgement at all.

    • @illbehonest
      @illbehonest  6 лет назад +1

Indeed some of the questions people submit lack enough info to make very clear judgement's, but I wouldn't say there was such a lack of evidence for no assertions to be made. From what I remember there were at-least two things the person said that Tim tried to point show some evidence that something is off: 1) The person had said, "I don't see how someone could be saturated with so much truth and yet be accused of things like this."
As mentioned, the mature person should recognize you can have that much truth, but if you don't have love your a noisy gong (1 Cor. 13). And 2) The person said, "Prayer is a weak area in my life so maybe my problem is there." and Tim pointed out how that reveals pride, for the humble person is needy for the Lord and prayer is a priority. -- With that said, yes, to have very helpful in depth counseling one needs to hear a lot more and get a fuller perspective.

Noah suffered many slings and arrows, yet for all the mocking and name calling - was one of 8 people left on earth...
Jesus suffered much of the same and was inevitably crucified (by "wise" men) for speaking truth and performing mirracles.
Being popular and seeking praise from other people is a worldly concern - the truth will OFTEN challenge peoples fundamental beliefs - and in nealry all cases will cause anger as a response.
The CHOICE of people to judge his email on a public forum like this, may caise even more harm to this young man if word gets back to him.

  • @WTG194
    @WTG194 4 года назад +4

He's young and he's just trying to imitate what he see's from the leaders around him. Some carry on like perfectly correct doctrine and thinking is the way to salvation and so he wants to be as correct as possible so as to secure his spot in heaven, who taught him this or from where was this caught? Let's judge ourselves as leaders first, too many of us pretend we know everything so this is what the followers imitate. This young man humbly admitted to not having the best prayer life in his eyes, who are we to judge how hard one should pray, do we take tally of how much he has prayed and found it wanting? Maybe he prays his heart out but see's no progress in the way he is expecting and so is caught in a cycle of believing he has to pray even harder. Pharisees generally don't go around wanting to be better people admitting their weaknesses to one another good on him for wanting to be better and seeing his error early

People mostly say I'm insane. I tell them about all the answers to payer and miracles at first they say it's coincidences then I keep mentioning more until finally they say I'm insane. I'm used to being called insane by now.
Sometimes rarely someone will insinuate I'm prideful for talking about how much has been done for me by God. I heard them say "How dare you think God cares about you while people in this world suffer!". I then say "I say this because I am just like everyone else! God can do this in anyone's life. I don't have special faith so if this can happen for me it can happen for you. Just call upon him!". I seen some get really mad say "How dare you pray for that miracle and not people suffering!". I was like "Ugh I do pray for people suffering and have seen miracles there too. I saw people delivered from their sufferings. So if you're so worried why don't you pray for those suffering too? The more prayers the better!".
I then sometimes show them miracles before their very eyes and then they just curse God. I don't know whats the point anymore they could see me raise the dead and call it a medical phenomenon. I could move mountains and they would call it an earthquake all the while calling me insane. It does not matter I see only one person can open their eyes (God).

Yeah, sounds like the kid is being bombarded with negative stuffs from the people around him. It's not right to say that straight to him if he really is like that, the youth pastor should have checked his words( James 3:1-12). I'm sure this kid is hurting with what his read. Most of the time what other people think of you is not right. Maybe you need to disciple this kid. He needs help , with the people around him right now won't probably help him.

He would obviously have pride to deal with, who of us don't. However, the fact that he said he doesn't pray enough, is a humble statement. If he said that he prayed a lot, then he would definitely be accused by Tim and others of being prideful. i think that by saying that he was saturated in so much truth, simply points to the fact that he reads 10 chapters a day of God's truth, and puritan books that are filled with God's truth.

You should never take a non-believers words for it, unless you know you are in error. Any street preaching will get you called those things. If you just stand there and say "You live in sin, you needed Jesus." That ALONE will get you spit on, and called judgemental. When it comes many believers sharing the same perspective, what is the kind of behavior gets you called these things? You should include this info. You said "I read scripture, I believe, I get called names." You didn't include "Hey, I called so and so an idiot for not opening the door for someone, and told them they should repent or they'll go to hell." You should know the kind of behavior that is leading up to this. Some advice would be not to nit-pick. All sin nature in the born again is nailed to the cross. Jesus said not to complain about a speck, he said not to strain a gnat and swallow a camel. If you do that a lot in an angry or grudging way that could put people off... If you're just an honest person, and open with your honesty, and people are really in error, maybe you should change churches. If you have a masonic preacher, and he's outside the gospel, and you call him out, and he calls you a grudging pharisee, ect, who cares? Just carry on somewhere biblical, and remember not to get on everyone's case about everything. The bible speaks out against sowing seeds of discord. It's not your job to adhere to and point out every sin in the church. God didn't anoint any of us Judges or Elohim.

Regarding 15:18, personally I was saved by being banged on the head with the doctrine of election... so I do not think that method is altogether necessarily bad. Prior to my conversion I was surrounded with this "pray the prayer in the back of the pamphlet and you'll be saved AND be delivered from all your depression, addiction, etc." kind of Christianity. To me the doctrine of election and it being behind all salvation is proof-positive that the true Gospel is of divine origin. It puts man at his proper place and God at His proper place, and in my opinion only then and not until then, will true understanding and conversion be likely (I will never understand how Arminians get converted... I was a Calvinist from day one of conversion and was never an Arminian believer--I was a very, very staunch Arminian as an unbeliever though!). After all, it is very difficult to convict someone of sin and their need of a Savior if they feel entitled that God owes them something, or that He is unjust to throw people into Hell. In any case, if you would read some of Spurgeon's sermons, you will find that he mentions people who were converted by this doctrine of election.

Where does Pastor Tim preach? I really wish I could find a biblical preacher in my area. I live in central FL. I prefer expository preaching but, I would settle for just biblical preaching. I don't want to ask too much. Although, I'm convicted that expository preaching is important. Anyone know a good church in the central Florida area? Most churches here are seeker sensitive, and I can't seem to get past it. Maybe that's my problem. Idk... But, if y'all don't know a church, then just pray that I find one, if you would... Or pray for me. I don't exclude myself in fault. I just really need God to lead me to a good fellowship; wherever He would have me. Be it unto me according to His will.

Wow 10 chapters of Scripture as a 14 year old? Is he actually reading it or just skimming? Is he meditating on them? 2 Corinthians 3:18 states that our beholding of Christ in His word should conform us to Him. Is he reading it to become closer to Christ? I struggle with this as well, but 10 chapters a day is sorta wow lol.

Psalm 1 meditate means to ponder, to chew the cud like a cow. when you read Scripture, think on it, take it in, regurgitate it, think day and night on God's truth and you will be planted by streams of water. Allow God to pour into your heart. It's not about how much you read, but that you just spend time with God. John 15 will help you to see that connection is everything. read it slowly. I pray that you will know the depth of God's love for you as you come to realize that Christ has done it all. Now you just rest is what was accomplished on the cross. Allow His Spirit to guide you into all truth. Don't work for it. You have every blessing through Christ.

Be a doer and not a hearer only of the word. We are saved by grace through faith and the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Every word of the Bible is true from front to back. If you have 10,000 Catholics that tell you the GOSPEL is not so, that does not mean the GOSPEL is not so. Majority wins is not the order of the Bible says there are few who will enter. GOD loves every single person on this Earth to the point that he gave his only begotten son JESUS CHRIST so that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you are a Christian a true GOSPEL believing Christian and live your life via GOD and his WORD it doesn't matter if 187 churches tell you you are this and that and that and this you are right because Jesus is right and if you are living your GOD ruled JESUS believing life you accept correction from other GOD loving JESUS believing Christians BUT if they are false Christians if they are against the WORD of GOD against JESUS CHRIST and are in error it does not matter how many people walk up to you and tell you you are anyting at all what they say is not true you live your life off of every word of the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY says you be a doer and not a hearer only love the LORD JESUS CHRIST with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself then praise the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY continue on my brother!! Walk in love....keep his comments and receive his grace

It's because it's an "I" focused message not a God-focused message. That is a trait of a Pharisee.. . you can READ 10 chapters of scripture - wow .. hugely Pharisee.. .. no this is a pharisee who needs to see that he is one and then become one. AGE Does not MATTER!!! but at the same time we should imitate those who imitate Christ and find those people to imitate.. and not imitate those who do not fully imitate Christ

You spend long times in scripture and if your humour was crude before and you haven't developed anything to replace it with, then you can come off as overly serious. That's okay in a way because we are dealing with a serious topic. Most followers of Christ are too lax about it and joke about it as if it isn't real.
Then we are given as unbelievers as fools suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. It's easy to lose your patience with this. You come to the sanctifying influence of the Holy Spirit, you begin to experience victory over a few of the sinful characteristics in my life, and are some way in and you lose your patience with "heathen fools" who reject the Spirit. They could be cured of their sin stench, but no, they make everyone else live with it", you think to yourself. You begin to think "It's no good, none of these useless idiots would know gospel if it punched them in the face, you're the only real Christian, just pathetic weak wimps and useless fools."
You look in the scripture and see "woe unto you when all men speak well of you" and "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." so you are convinced you must be doing something right.
When you reprove sin, you are not aware you are coming off like Steve Anderson to the guy dealing with homosexual tendencies. You forget to speak the truth in love, instead you speak it pridefully as if your status in Christ makes them dirt under your shoe, and that's when you realise you better throw yourself at the feet of Christ in prayer.

Doctrine…………….of God do you keep it ?

    of our Lord Jesus Christ,
    and to the
    doctrine
    which is according to godliness;”
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
    Deuteronomy 32:2
    “My doctrine
    shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass:”

    “Give ear, O ye heavens,
    and I will speak;
    and hear,
    O earth,
    the words of my mouth.”

Jesus Christ the Son of God died on the cross for all the sins you've ever committed and if you believe and put your trust in Him you will live forever in heaven

Jesus also said You also have to carry your cross (crucify the natural selfishness inherent in all men) and follow his commands... Hard but true.
