If that squeak got quicker as you drove faster then likely it is your speedo cable binding. I remember having that squeaky sound after I replaced my cable in my K5. If I remember right, it was squeaking because it was kinked at the speedometer. Making the radius of the bend larger helped. I didn't have to do this, but I had thought to put a few drops of machine oil in the cable.
