The airport you couldn't remember is in Port Hawkesbury just as you would otherwise drive onto Cape Breton Island and it's about a 1 hour drive to Cabot from there. They accommodate many private aircraft there as well as at the islands main airport in Sydney which is about a 2 hour drive. Both drives are very scenic. The "big miss" on your trip was that you didn't also play Highland Links GC here on Cape Breton Island which is a Stanley Thompson design that has been rated the top public course in Canada many times over and could arguably rival the pure golf play experience at Cabot. We also have Bell Bay GC in Baddeck which was Canada's top new course when it was built and we have other spectacular championship courses at The Lakes in Ben Eoin (both have hosted PGA of Canada events) Le Portage GC in Cheticamp, Dundee GC...You get my point. We are blessed with great tracks on this little island!
I’m from Halifax and Have played both courses four or five times . I agree with your statement “ date The Cliffs but marry The Links. That said , the final 4 at The Cliffs are an incredible run !

16 and 17 are terrible golf holes.
Heaven on Earth! Best golf, experience, and people. Been trying to convince my wife to move there and work there. Place is as pure as possible
Just played it ..beyond amazing... 360 views on every hole.. . is a special place
I had the pleasure to work on building the dunes cottages. Also living 20 minutes down the road truly a beautiful spot
Hey bud. I am building in Cheticamp and love the style of the Dunes Cottages. I'm putting a small crew together. Are you looking for work?
My 2 favorite courses. My home.
Both courses are unreal. Sad you missed Cape Breton’s best course though. The Highlands Links
Links is better than the Cliffs. Cliffs is not a true links course and 16 and 17 are the worst holes on the complex.
Rich people’s golf
Pebble takes that title.
