    When you said they’re constantly changing to please people is right on the nose! She said that in her woman of the decade billboard speech she said “I didn’t know then that people would find other things that bothered them and I would have to keep accommodating in order to please my critics” and “this decade I became a mirror for my detractors, whatever they said I couldn’t do is exactly what I did” or something along the lines. That being said, I don’t think this applies anymore since she ended her speech with “as for me, now I’m just focusing on doing whatever the hell I want”

      As people get older and mature they learn how to balance out their functions a lot more ☺️ for her the imbalance always swings towards accommodating the group. So learning more how to take a step back from that is super healthy and great for her! :) I’m happy for her!

    • @EricWen
      @EricWen  3 года назад +55

      @@madonnaswift4768 She's definitely insightful, a lyrical genius and her songs have a lot of emotion,. She also does have an intuitive side but those are all traits any personality type can demonstrate. To decipher someone's personality type you have to understand and analyze the thought processes and decision making styles behind the behavior.
      There are two emotional decision making styles - in this video we talked about how her documentary talks about how strong her Extroverted Feeling is and how that's affected her her entire life. She's great at making decisions that respect, honor and accommodate outside expectations and emotions - which is what Extroverted Feeling is great at. She for the majority of her life sacrificed her personal authenticity for the good of the group and outside expectations. That's not something an Introverted Feeler would be good at.
      She definitely has an intuitive side to her - we all do. But if you really understand what Introverted Sensing is - you can see that that's the personality superpower that's beautifully littered all over her lyrics. Introverted Sensing (from xSxJ personality types) is what makes her lyrics so potent, relatable and powerful. I'm excited to show examples of what I mean in my followup video.
      If you look at the building blocks behind how an INTJ sees the world, and makes decisions, it's wildly different from how Taylor does things. In fact, INTJ's are actually constantly plagued with problems because of how low their Extroverted Feeling is. They tend to be excellent masterminds, and schemers - but quite antisocial and abrasive because of their clumsy and sensitive Introverted Feeling.
      If you're just looking at it as broad buckets Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking and Judging...i can see where you're coming from! Taylor definitely has those sides to her. But when you dig into the cognitive functions, I personally thing different results are pretty clear. Hope my message doesn't come off the wrong way. As I said before, it's totally ok if we don't agree. I ultimately really appreciate you sharing your perspective and thoughts and being here! :)

      @Marr i think its definitely possible to change types as we age and mature. I first did the test when i was in high school and i got INFJ. When i went into uni, my perspectives changed, my dreams changed and i felt like parts of me changed too. So i did the 16personalities test again, and alas, i did change to INFP! When i read the descriptions, it definitely started to resonate more with me than being an INFJ. So yeah, from personal experience, it is possible to change types :)

    • @Joanna_
      @Joanna_ 3 года назад

      @@elbowpatched same experience. I first took the quiz when I was in uni. And then couple years later after graduation, I took the test again, due to changed goals and preferences and possibly growth of personality in general haha, I changed from one type to another! :)))

    • @EricWen
      @EricWen  3 года назад +33

      I think you guys are agreeing more than you think. I agree it's very easy to mistype in high school or as Elbow put it, for core parts of your personality to not really show themselves until you get more life experience, clarify your values, dreams and put yourself in different contexts where your personality can properly unfold and show itself. I personally would not call that "changing your personality type" but rather discovering your real personality type. But i can see how that definitely feels like "changing your personality type." The same thing happened with me.
      I mistyped all the time in high school as an INTJ, because I was responsible in comparison to my peers and high school constantly forced me to be doing homework, being planned out and structured. So I thought I was a J. It wasn't until those outside constraints came off in college that my real sensibilities - doing my completely own thing, always pushing to be more flexible and spontaneous really showed itself strong and loudly -aka my natural and real personality type. When I learned cognitive functions, it got even more obvious I was actually an INTP.
      Ultimately I'm glad you found INFP as the better more accurate fit, Elbow! At the end of the day that's what matters and it's a wonderful tool to understand yourself better! :)

    • @Joanna_
      @Joanna_ 3 года назад +1

      @Marr hello, I looked deeper into this and this may be one of the debates on the MBTI community. Many will argue that a person's personality type can't change but I would like to disagree.
      I remember watching a video (about mbti but getting it all wrong so the comment section were arguing) and someone said the MBTI system is like a building having 16 rooms (non verbatim, I don't remember the exact phrase haha). Saying that having taken your first test, you get assigned a room. But due to experiences and growth as a person over the course of your life, you are bound to have different preferences and beliefs than before.
      But I do agree that maybe it's just our original type evolving or maturing. Because I only changed from one variable to another.
      Or maybe because I didn't really fully understood the choices before and I do now so I have clearer answers leading me to get a different result.

      Since swiftie is esfj . And I typed as intp is that like esfj but back to front cause I use Fe and ti.
      My ti Dom is used to sort our personal problems , feelings and I use my thinking as a hobby rather than a job.
      And I can be very self critical and I analyse my thoughts all the time but then on the other hand my Fe has this desire to belong and this group harmony but Executing it always contradicts with my Ti dom.
      But I guess I can relate to Taylor because my mind plays around with Si and Ne too
      Because with Si I store in sensory data and sensory experiences and I continuously salvage it and dig deeper into it rather than try new things without a map even though I’m p type I still like further notices and I can be sentimental and for me I’m more curious of the past than the future or trying out something new because I like to have that foundation of oh yes I’ve been there before I think I can finish off from there. Like I hate the idea of watching something I’ve never seen before I like to rewatch things because though I forgot the plot at least I have an idea if the movie is good because I don’t want to waste my time I want to salvage it.
      And then Ne Is my creative streak and I can think outside the box. So yea as an intp I guess I’m just the failed esfj who tried to be lol

    Taylor’s just seemed like a quiet person on the inside (based on what I’ve heard about her from her early days) but is loud with her friends and doesn’t get that much stage fright becuase she can be not afraid when she wants to be. Basically she’s social when she wants to be! She is hard working but loves to have fun! She tries to super nice to everyone as well

    just found out about your personality analysis and watched your last 3 videos, AMAZING ! I feel like i learn so much faster about MBTI with your explanations about specific situations that the person is in, illustrated by the video extracts.
    Do you think you could mention if a function is dominant, auxiliary, etc, when you talk about a function within a specific type ? (im still struggling to know what order the functions come in in each type... so it would probably be helpful for beginners !)
    Your explanations are so thorough and more nuanced than what we can read on the internet that i’m starting to doubt that i’m an INFP, might be an INTP after all...
    Anyway thank you !!! looking forward to more videos from you ☺️

      Lmk how your INFP or INTP inquiry goes too!! I’m very curious!

      She’s great!! Taylor is a developed Esfj. Many Esfjs females are nothing like her, unfortunately… When underdeveloped or unhealthy they dive into gossips, rumors, jealousy and are extremely competitive…Think of a classic school mean girl - Blair Waldorf, Regina George, Chantel from the Scream Queens.
