@@cheesypoohalo tbh the closes thing i can think of is rainbow six siege. But im completely ignorant to the r6 meta and pro scene so i cant really say anything
Pudie but csgo is the most popular game because it doesn’t have 1000 weird quirks or random variables that go into deciding the outcome like mobas or bg games or even siege. There is something special about crafting a game with 20 years of balance and meta that evolves with 2 very simple overarching themes: Tactical meta, and individual skill. It’s the reason the Japanese game of Go is infinitely more complex than chess, though in go all pieces have exactly the same value, it has less rules and generally is the ‘simpler’ game. Sure games like siege are technically more complex, but the nuance of csgo is that its simplicity is its strength. It is easy to watch and understand, easy to pick up and play but incredibly difficult to master. I would even argue that the simplistic nature of the game creates an even more diverse ecosystem for competitive play. There is no OP position, or class, or single strategy. Cs strikes a beautiful balance between simple rules, a soft meta, ridiculously high individual skill cap and if you are creative enough, never ending new possibilities for strategy to outsmart your opponents. Not to discount those other shooters and their metas, but IMO sometimes less is more. In CS and competitive shooters I think this is the case.
Owl is very clearly fanboying Liquid tho, im a nip fan but this is such a partial analysis, making it seems like Liquid are the kings of cs go, from winning tournaments for 4 months, and getting swept at the major by the team that was taking breaks, you know, the team that dominated a whole year? yea, lets act like Astralis didnt win Liquids map pick, which is exactly what Owl just did, because he is trying to make Liquid seem like the best team ever to play the game. What im noticing so far with NA teams is that they are heavily momentum-reliant, whereas EU teams such as Astralis and ENCE (other EU teams as well, im just giving examples) maintain around the same lvl of play, no matter how hard they are getting outplayed and losing. They always manage to adjust mid-match and keep their calm. Even if they dont end up winning off of a bad start they make it competitive. When I watch NA teams winning the first few rounds they get hyped up and confident, but when they lose the first few rounds , they usually decline so much from their usual strategic play and just passively rely on smn from the team to pop off individually. I think that this is why NA teams are so inconsistent. Liquid is the 1st team I have seen from NA that have managed to be somewhat consistent when it comes to mental momentum, but they still need a lot of work to reach EU teams.
From watching a few streams of NA players, it's obvious why, they like to dramatize allot, more so than EU players, and drama doesn't go well with mental game, since every single thought you have affects you more than you'd think, when you start overthinking your death or start thinking you're falling behind, you're fucked, that's most likely what goes trough their minds and is probably the reason they are so momentum based, because when you switch it around and they're winning, and over dramatizing their win, they'll be in a really good mood and they'll play better because of it. And this is great advice for everyone who plays, make sure you keep your train of thought clean, stay focused on the game and don't think your thoughts are meaningless and don't have any impact on you, because they are literally you, so make sure the only thing going on inside your head is the game and how to win, you have to "become" counter-strike to be truly good at it :)
This legitimately makes me think of chess at international grand master level, people targeting specific matchups and training like crazy to counter them - sometimes even just for the show.

What an amazing match- wish I had seen it live!
I predict liquid to beat astralis on nuke in the next major.
JK LMAO

Man I wish that happens....
I'mma find you when ESL One NY hits playoffs.
@@mihirx27 k and do what?
@@-MankoMan And wait for an Astralis vs Liquid match. If Liquid Wins nuke, you're a madlad!
One of the best videos I've ever watched hands down!
This was the best vertigo match I have seen till date....best team work of astralis
Damn, I love the usage of Crypt Of The Necrodancer music. Gives me goosebumps
I think device knew liquid had to be atleast on partial tilt so since liquid knew astralis just dedicated to a ramp crunch and device was the only *Known* survivor who fell mustve fell back after that moli, devices play was counting on them assuming that he would go back and play a loose hold since he was awping. No way he would sit at the concrete after we [liquid] just beat your [astralis]ramp crunch. Either he would be at a close angle kennyS raid boss style looking for another pick to then run to another angle to pick another, or he runs to get a loose hold and wait for a rotate or more info of a push.
Oh and like i said. WaRoWl cUrSeD nA

Astralis are like ants, I love it! They are a hivemind and know what every member of their team thinks, says and does at all times.
It was the end of liquid. It wasnt the revival of astralis (kinda)
Your storytelling is so compelling. We kinda knew whats coming. But with your storytelling and great analysis, u made a great video. I especially love this one video you uploaded. Keep it up!
"one of the most interesting rivalries" - that didnt age well lol
i like the fact that he held up a paper and still proceeds to read from his monitor in his intro
