My childhood was spent by the sea and this tune was the tune at that time..early '50s in the islands of the Pacific.

@@johnfairfield7498 "Release Me" (sometimes rendered as "Release Me (and Let Me Love Again)"), is a popular song written by Eddie "Piano" Miller and Robert Yount in 1949. thanks for letting me know. were there no copyrights back then ?

Music copyrights started in 1794. Like you I think there is enough similarities that it infringed on the earlier song. But don’t know enough to say that with any accuracy.

@@johnfairfield7498 similarities ?? it is the same melody. there are other cases where they said there were infringements, on way less of one. sometimes just a riff. i think one famous case was with chuck berry and the beatles ? but nothing like this one. my only explanation is that whoever wrote the song didnt register a complaint, for whatever reason ?

@@johnfairfield7498 i think i know what happened. this melody is in public domain. so anyone can use it, and put their own words to it. there is one particular melody that i bet i have a dozen or more times on my ipod of about 10,000 songs - many of them are old country. take a listen to this and tell me if you know where the melody originated ? ruclips.net/video/NWghw7z6Rkc/видео.html
