Thanks Keith, pleased to find you on YT, this video is like a breath of fresh air that reminds me so much of my early life around the Mount. Today, when I scan the Town on Google Earth I tend to be lost, so much has changed with new streets, roads and buildings. Princess Street has completely changed, when I was young lad living nearby there was virtually a pub on every street corner from Cornhill to Railway Station. Thanks again, hopefully their more you can share on YT.

Had a happy childhood growing up in the 60s and 70s in the town but can't say I would move back there now just don't recognise the place. Always support the Town though great club.

I lived in Ipswich about 1971 I worked as an apprentice joined out at martlesham heath, the then G.P.O. Site, I lived at the princess hotel (guest house) up by the station accused to drink in the falcon pub in the centre and the farmers arms on the way to the railway station, those where the good old days

A great video James, bringing back many memories but I'm pretty sure your image labelled Curriers Lane 1961 is actually Tanners Lane and probably slightly earlier than 1961.

That was a Spar shop at 0:41 (the one with Choice) when I used to go there to get my step mum 10 Number 6... I lived at 22, Fonnereau Road, early 60's.
And I almost drowned at Fore Street Swimming Baths which you can just see at the rh side of 1:24.
J.H.Grimwade at 2:56 is where we went for new school uniform, I went to Everton School in Humber Doucy Lane.

Wish Ipswich was still like this. I hate change, maybe that's my problem.

Some areas were in need of improvement but the modern building designs have done little to enhance the town. I'm amazed at how many pubs there were.

I miss the old English Market Towns, I hope the developers and demolishers enjoyed spending their new wealth on living somewhere of character.Though I suppose their idea of character would be an apartment in a Marina development, I stayed in one on a visit to the UK and there was no sound-proofing whatsoever, despite the hefty price tag, the neighbours complained if you farted.
