the 'father, I did it!' is kinda cute. It's like when a child is really proud of something they've done and they show their parents with a big goofy grin on their face..... I can imagine Elsa is grinning like that on the inside
It's like Dangerous to Dream is her accepting the fact that she can't ever be normal but there's still that tiny glimmer of hope at the end that she shuts away. Then Let It Go is like I don't care anymore, I want to be free, I want to be able to do the things I want and then Monster is like Elsa realising that she made herself those rules for a reason and regretting having broken them whilst she desperately searches for a solution. It's sad when you play them one after the other; those three songs are basically her journey through the film.
Even Anna, Kristoff and Hans have three songs through the musical that build their journeys: Anna: - "Love Is An Open Door" (the chance she sees in Hans, her "true love" she've dreamed for the whole life) - "What Do You Know About Love" (the confrontation with Kristoff about her convinctions regarding "love") - "True Love" (the moment where her spirit breaks, cause of Hans's betrayal, realizing that all her convinctions came from her separation from Elsa) Kristoff: - "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People" (his convinction that Sven, his best friend, is a better company than any other human being) - "What Do You Know About Love" (his confrontation with Anna, where he explains his rough point of view on things) - "Kristoff Lullaby" (where he finally realizes that he is fallen in love with Anna, that she brough him the hope he needed) Hans: - "Hans of the Southern Isles" (when he meets Anna and appeares as the young prince who is "the thirteenth son of a king" of a kingdom "from the south") - "Love Is An Open Door" (the song where he fools Anna, where he seems her perfect reflection) - "Hans of the Southern Isles (Reprise)" (where he seems the leader Arendelle needs, a prince in love with the princess, with all the qualities to face the eternal winter) I would add also "For The First Time In Forever" and "For The First Time In Forever (Reprise)" because they are the sisters duets, and "Colder By The Minute", that is the climax, the moment where the journeys of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Hans collide togheter.
just a quick shout out to whoever did the beautiful animation behind... the transitions are so seamless, i love the snowflake made up of elsa and anna's silhouettes!
Elsa is such a beautiful representation for those of us struggling with mental illness, having to fight our own selves as the villains of our stories. I have borderline personality disorder, and have always connected with "Let It Go", but just hearing this song, I couldn't help but immediately relate. "I can't be what you expect of me, But I'm trying every day with all I do, and do not say. Here on the edge of the abyss, Knowing everything in my whole life has lead to this. And so I pull inside myself, Close the walls, put up my guard. I've practiced every single day for this, so why is it so hard? 'Cause I can't show you, I'm not as cold as I seem... There are things you cannot know, And it's dangerous to dream."
Damn I totally understand you! I also have bpd and it's a lot to handle everyday! When Frozen came out in 2013 I was 12 years old and I related to Elsa a lot bc I knew what It felt like to see yourself as a monster, and wanting to protect the ones you love from you
you know by this song elsa was really traumatized by what happened to her that night when she met the trolls. elsa is such a vulnerable person, all she wanted is to be with her sister, her sister was her dream. wished this song was in the movie, we'd get to know who elsa really is more. the musical sounds so good, i really wanna see it!!
jayden heller yeah sometimes I think that too, the parents should have accepted her powers. Instead of hiding her and her powers, they should have find a way to control it. Elsa scares (in my opinion) that she would hurt someone because she don’t know how to control her powers. But at the same time, I also think that any parent will take the same step as Elsa’s parents to be safe...I think that’s why the story contains this parenting...
Elsa's parents really weren't that bad. They didn't know what to do either. Sure, it wasn't the best choice but they just didn't know how to handle the situation.
Honestly, the more I listen to these new songs the more I fall in love with them. I love the original cast as well as the movie and I don't see why it's necessary to declare one better than the other. They are both two entirely different productions and both are really amazing!!! ❄💖❄💖❄💖❄
I saw this on Broadway last week and this is my favorite new song. The show is amazing. The special effects are awesome and perfect casting for Anna and Elsa.
I always felt these emotions were very much implied in the movie but the fact we got these songs in the musical made it obvious for those who didn't catch it in the film. And they're brilliant additions to the story.
My heart so full knowing that my daughter watched the Broadway last Sunday.. What a lucky girl... I listening the whole soundtrack and it feel like everytime we watched Broadway together ... I'm so grateful..
Been anxiously awaiting these songs since seeing the preview in Denver! So can't wait for the OBC album. Caissie, Patti, & company are absolutely divine.
Elsa: I can't be what you expect of me And I'm trying every day with all I do And do not say Here on the edge of the abyss Knowing everything in my whole life has lead to this And so I pull inside myself Close the walls put up my guard I've practised every single day for this So why is it so hard 'Cause I can't show you I'm not as cold as I seem There are things you cannot know And it's dangerous to dream [Anna: Sorry I'm late!] I know I'll never see that sunny day When this trial is finally through, And it could just be me and you I can't dwell on what we've lost And our secrecy and silence comes at such a cost I wish I could tell the truth Show you who's behind the door I wish you knew what all this pantomime and pageantry was for I have to be so cautious And you're so extreme We're different, you and I And it's dangerous to dream It's dangerous to wish I could make choices of my own Dangerous to even have that thought I'm dangerous just standing here For everyone to see If I let go of rules Who knows how dangerous I'd be? ... I can't believe that I'm standing here Did I really make it through? Father, I did it Now I'm tied to you I can't stop smiling, how strange Does this mean that things are different? Could they really change? And could I open up the door And finally see you face to face I guess the queen can change the rules But not the reasons they're in place I can't be what you expect of me And I'm not what I seem But I would love to know you Is it dangerous to dream?
Marvelous Caissie and Company of Frozen yes it is "Dangerous to Dream." Courageous we are to imagine then travel 6,000 miles to see, hear and feel stupendous Frozen bravo thank you!
This is THE song for my swirling emotions. Like I haven’t seen the musical live but what I have seen of the bootleg, it’s amazing. THE SOUNDTRACK need I say more! This and Monster *chefs kiss*. I listen to this on loop for comfort and to help with writers block. It does wonders. Standing ovation to the entire cast of the musical (composers, performers, etc). It’s just soooo perfect, and in many ways better and deeper than the movie.
I was determined to hate Frozen on stage...but something weird is happening...I'm finding myself LIKING these new songs...help, I think the walls around my heart are...melting...Crap...
Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga Lol, yeah...cheap cash grabs will always bother artists. Especially when truly incredible shows like Hunchback Of Notre Dame don't get to perform on Broadway, while cheap cash grabs like Frozen and Sponge Bob do.
AWorldWithoutTenors first of all, do t bring up the injustice of Hunchback, still sad. But you can't really judge a thing as a cash grab unless you've seen it with an open mind. Spongebob sounds and looks astonishing. If the Broadway version of frozen was just like the movie or the same as the version at Hyperion, then it would be a cheap, _very_ cheap cash grab. But it's not, and an artist has to have an open mind, otherwise you're a traditionalist. How can you be an innovator if you're always in the last (yeah I quoted La la land)
Beautiful... 1:12 the lines :- when the trial is finally through, and it could just be me and you Lovely... So true and fits the frozen content somehow...
That's kind of a misinterpretation of the song. It's not an anthem at all. It's a question. Is it dangerous to dream? I love the line "I guess a queen can change the rules, but not the reason they're in place". You can break all the rules, but that's not always a good thing. Sometimes, those "rules" were there for good reason. In Elsa's case, those rules had a very good reason for being there. Breaking those rules put the kingdom and everyone she cared about in danger. Real life is much the same. Just because we CAN change the rules doesn't mean we always SHOULD. Structure is important, law and order are important. These things are what separate us from the animals, they separate us from the "every man for himself" days of humanity. The structure we have in place is not perfect, and the laws aren't either, but getting rid of things IS dangerous. The balance between chaos and order is very, very delicate. Even today, there are dozens of countries that are very dangerous places to live because nobody follows the rules.
I think you missed the point. First, those rules that were there to "protect" Elsa, only hurt her and Anna. Instead of being afraid and making up all these stupid rules, they should have encouraged her to be herself, with love and compassion. I mean, have you seen the whole movie? The spell is broken when Elsa learns to love and stop being afraid of who she is. When she breaks free from all those rules and allows herself to dream. Not every law is there to keep people safe. Some are very hurtful. Also, I don't think you paid attention in history class and or current events because that "structure" you speak of, is pretty fucked up and screwing us all over. That structure has kept people in the dark and limited their freedoms. Oh but you justify that because it's "safe" and or how things have always been? How does that even make sense? And why are you trying to justify a system and or structure that doesn't allow freedom to all?
Franny Dent There are no law structure that allows freedom to all. Nothing does. That was the point of Aworldwithouttenors. The point of the song is: Is it such a bad thing to hope things will change? And that's it, it does not give us an answer.
cannot wait to hear the whole musical soundtrack i love Frozen so new original songs each time a new one posted it feel like christmas to me and on the plus side i do love musicals
Ever since I saw the tease for this song in the sitzprob video with the cast and orchestra, I knew I had to listen to this whole song! It has some 100% I'm Not That Girl vibes
Going through a mental health crisis right now. Keeping a lot of things from my friends and family. This is so relatable and I cry every time I hear it.
This is so beautiful. So heartfelt. I like the repeated part of conceal... Don't feel... A lot because it's like a breath in/breath out/breath in/breath out. And Elsa breathed these thoughts for all these years :/
So GOOD!! Everything about this is beautiful. You are all SO TALENTED and AMAZING and really tell a story in the emotion in your voices. I really want to see the show!
Okay but like this is fantastic, it's so much better than the movie! It adds so much more depth and makes it so much more interesting! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ALREADY
beautiful but sad elsa feeling fear what is the most danger no one should have grow up in and still be in fear even though work of fiction. more into elsa's emotions i like though anna is my fav character i like the sisters i have a sister myself and family is most important
I'm starting really like the soundtrack to this show more and more. I saw it when it came out, had the collectible CD and liked most of the cut numbers than the ones that were used and finalized lol. But after that it just got to much and to annoying. The Broadway show has reopened my love for this music. But will always love the composers for all that they add to Broadway.
from this song and the other new one "monster" i cried...those two songs made the film sad...cuz it really express elsas feelings who is the tragic and sad character in the movie
Some of the original Frozen songs were fun, but didn't quite have that classic Disney feel to them. But this song has Disney Magic all over it. I really wish it would have been part of the Frozen movie so I could hear it in Disneyland D:
I agree, it seems as if they took a lot of inspiration from the sound track of the frozen films. I heard that too! Some of the scores sound like parts of "let it go" too, I noticed. And, around 3:00, it sounds so much like the music during the coronation in the film and on the credits of frozen 1.
"I guess a queen can change the rules but not the reason they're in place." Damn, that hits hard.
Yeah, I know!
My fave line
The "I can't stop smiling, how strange..." Just breaks my heart every time. This song is so gorgeous.
Glinda Bennett SAME!!! 😍😍
Glinda Bennett yeah! And the ‘father, I did it!’ Is just amazing too...
the 'father, I did it!' is kinda cute. It's like when a child is really proud of something they've done and they show their parents with a big goofy grin on their face..... I can imagine Elsa is grinning like that on the inside
I know! I smile every time she says " father I did it!" Because she just sounds so happy and I just want to hug her
fr🙃
This song is the perfect build up to let it go, and let it go is the perfect spiral to Monster
Gary Walker agreed
It's like Dangerous to Dream is her accepting the fact that she can't ever be normal but there's still that tiny glimmer of hope at the end that she shuts away. Then Let It Go is like I don't care anymore, I want to be free, I want to be able to do the things I want and then Monster is like Elsa realising that she made herself those rules for a reason and regretting having broken them whilst she desperately searches for a solution. It's sad when you play them one after the other; those three songs are basically her journey through the film.
Even Anna, Kristoff and Hans have three songs through the musical that build their journeys:
Anna:
- "Love Is An Open Door" (the chance she sees in Hans, her "true love" she've dreamed for the whole life)
- "What Do You Know About Love" (the confrontation with Kristoff about her convinctions regarding "love")
- "True Love" (the moment where her spirit breaks, cause of Hans's betrayal, realizing that all her convinctions came from her separation from Elsa)
Kristoff:
- "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People" (his convinction that Sven, his best friend, is a better company than any other human being)
- "What Do You Know About Love" (his confrontation with Anna, where he explains his rough point of view on things)
- "Kristoff Lullaby" (where he finally realizes that he is fallen in love with Anna, that she brough him the hope he needed)
Hans:
- "Hans of the Southern Isles" (when he meets Anna and appeares as the young prince who is "the thirteenth son of a king" of a kingdom "from the south")
- "Love Is An Open Door" (the song where he fools Anna, where he seems her perfect reflection)
- "Hans of the Southern Isles (Reprise)" (where he seems the leader Arendelle needs, a prince in love with the princess, with all the qualities to face the eternal winter)
I would add also "For The First Time In Forever" and "For The First Time In Forever (Reprise)" because they are the sisters duets, and "Colder By The Minute", that is the climax, the moment where the journeys of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Hans collide togheter.
just a quick shout out to whoever did the beautiful animation behind... the transitions are so seamless, i love the snowflake made up of elsa and anna's silhouettes!
i didn't notice anna and elsa's sillouette until you mentioned it
This song digs even deeper into what Elsa was thinking all those years away from her sister.
Elsa is the most complex Disney character and it makes for intense musical lyrics.
I don’t know why, i can feel how vulnerable, worried, and conflicted Elsa is, just from this song. Message well told. Kudos to Caissie Levy!
Elsa is such a beautiful representation for those of us struggling with mental illness, having to fight our own selves as the villains of our stories. I have borderline personality disorder, and have always connected with "Let It Go", but just hearing this song, I couldn't help but immediately relate.

Close the walls, put up my guard.

There are things you cannot know,
And it's dangerous to dream."

The choir bit after the guy says “queen Elsa of arendelle” is my favorite part, those harmonies are gorgeous
Jonny Setzler Same!
Me too
"Father, I did it!"
whY AM I CRYING IN THE CLUB RN
you know by this song elsa was really traumatized by what happened to her that night when she met the trolls. elsa is such a vulnerable person, all she wanted is to be with her sister, her sister was her dream. wished this song was in the movie, we'd get to know who elsa really is more. the musical sounds so good, i really wanna see it!!
rapper chanyeol it’s less what happened with the trolls and more how her parents handled the situation. Bad parents
rapper chanyeol yeah especially cause the trolls aren't I the musical.
rapper chanyeol yeah...it would have told a whole lot more of Elsa...
jayden heller yeah sometimes I think that too, the parents should have accepted her powers. Instead of hiding her and her powers, they should have find a way to control it. Elsa scares (in my opinion) that she would hurt someone because she don’t know how to control her powers. This song is beautiful, I love the way it captures Elsa's personality and her struggle in one.
"i guess a queen can change the rules but not the reasons they're in place"
the best song lyric i have ever heard, absolutely breathtaking!!!
"Does this mean that things are different, could they really change"
This line gives her hope and it touches deep inside to real self
Wow, her voice is flawless. Such a silver voice, honestly, what a lovely thing to listen to
Honestly, the more I listen to these new songs the more I fall in love with them. I love the original cast as well as the movie and I don't see why it's necessary to declare one better than the other. They are both two entirely different productions and both are really amazing!!! ❄💖❄💖❄💖❄
This is my new favourite song from the Broadway version. Always brings me to tears...
This song is so heartbreaking. I love it. Also Caissie’s singing and acting here is amazing. Can’t wait for the whole soundtrack!
I love how much dimension these new songs are giving to Elsa's character! Very little of this kind of depth is revealed in the movie.
I'm not gonna lie but I actually teared up at this, Caissie is truly the Elsa we deserve ❄️
Cassie is the Elsa are we deserve. By the way broadway Elsa's is so much better.
This is another song perfect for the show and Caissie’s voice! These writers are on a roll!
I saw this on Broadway last week and this is my favorite new song. The show is amazing. The special effects are awesome and perfect casting for Anna and Elsa.
THE. CHARACTER. DEPTH. IS. SO. EMOTIONAL. NOW.
Beautiful this is great characterization for Elsa
I love it! :D These songs give so much more insight into Elsa's character than in the movie!
EchoFlower Productions I agree!
I always felt these emotions were very much implied in the movie but the fact we got these songs in the musical made it obvious for those who didn't catch it in the film. And they're brilliant additions to the story.
It almost made me cry because of all the walls and faces I put up to interact with everyone around me every day... including my family.
"It's dangerous to wish I could make choices of my own."It really makes me heartbroken.
:(
BY FAR the best new addition yet
You clearly haven't heard Monster yet
The low note on "DANGErous" gets me everytime.
I saw the out of town tryouts for the show in Denver last fall and this song was the best of the new crop. I am so happy to hear it again. Great.
So looking forward to this musical!!
Elsa:
I can't be what you expect of me
And I'm trying every day with all I do
And do not say
Here on the edge of the abyss
Knowing everything in my whole life has lead to this
And so I pull inside myself
Close the walls put up my guard
I've practised every single day for this
So why is it so hard
'Cause I can't show you
I'm not as cold as I seem
There are things you cannot know
And it's dangerous to dream
[Anna: Sorry I'm late!]
I know I'll never see that sunny day
When this trial is finally through,
And it could just be me and you
I can't dwell on what we've lost
And our secrecy and silence comes at such a cost
I wish I could tell the truth
Show you who's behind the door
I wish you knew what all this pantomime
and pageantry was for
I have to be so cautious
And you're so extreme
We're different, you and I
And it's dangerous to dream
It's dangerous to wish
I could make choices of my own
Dangerous to even have that thought
I'm dangerous just standing here
For everyone to see
If I let go of rules
Who knows how dangerous I'd be?
...
I can't believe that I'm standing here
Did I really make it through?
Father, I did it
Now I'm tied to you
I can't stop smiling, how strange
Does this mean that things are different?
Could they really change?
And could I open up the door
And finally see you face to face
I guess the queen can change the rules
But not the reasons they're in place
I can't be what you expect of me
And I'm not what I seem
But I would love to know you
Is it dangerous to dream?
The video is literally the lyrics 😂😂 like that you put in some effort though 👍🏻
I love this song so much!!! I can't stop crying.😭
Marvelous Caissie and Company of Frozen yes it is "Dangerous to Dream." Courageous we are to imagine then travel 6,000 miles to see, hear and feel stupendous Frozen bravo thank you!

Fear brings out the worst in others and nature, but love brings out the best in them.
I was determined to hate Frozen on stage...but something weird is happening...I'm finding myself LIKING these new songs...help, I think the walls around my heart are...melting...Crap...
AWorldWithoutTenors wait why were you determined to hate it? That's not the mind you should have in a theater community. OUT! (Joke)
Carlos Alejandro Alvarenga Lol, yeah...cheap cash grabs will always bother artists. Especially when truly incredible shows like Hunchback Of Notre Dame don't get to perform on Broadway, while cheap cash grabs like Frozen and Sponge Bob do.

Elsa:
"I know i'll never see that sunny day"
MY HEAAAART💔💔💔
Loving all these songs so far 😭
I love how I can relate to all these songs.
That’s beautiful
This is such a beautiful song! Such an anthem for some of us Women who are afraid to dream, but in the end realize its not dangerous at all!
That's kind of a misinterpretation of the song. It's not an anthem at all. It's a question. Is it dangerous to dream? The point of the song is: Is it such a bad thing to hope things will change? And that's it, it does not give us an answer.
Rebecca Joyner yeah no that's not the point...
why just women? sexist much
One of my favorites!!!! So beautiful
cannot wait to hear the whole musical soundtrack i love Frozen so new original songs each time a new one posted it feel like christmas to me and on the plus side i do love musicals
i've been waiting for this forever
Ever since I saw the tease for this song in the sitzprob video with the cast and orchestra, I knew I had to listen to this whole song! It has some 100% I'm Not That Girl vibes
Going through a mental health crisis right now. Keeping a lot of things from my friends and family. This is so relatable and I cry every time I hear it.
"I practice every single day, so why is it so hard?" Literally my piano lessons:)
My favorite part is when Elsa says " father, I did it!"
And she just sounds so happy

So perfect. I'm in love with this song - it only took a bar for me to come to that conclusion, and the rest simply cemented it. Stunning.
This was amazing! This is my favorite song from all the other songs that have been released so far!! ❤️
Best new song by far
This is so beautiful. So heartfelt. I like the repeated part of conceal... Don't feel... A lot because it's like a breath in/breath out/breath in/breath out. And Elsa breathed these thoughts for all these years :/
So GOOD!! Everything about this is beautiful. You are all SO TALENTED and AMAZING and really tell a story in the emotion in your voices. I really want to see the show!
Definitely my favorite song including Monster from the Broadway musical.

Sarah Hamilfan oh yeah, Hamilton is so genius. The detail in the music, the script, the acting, everything. Hamilton was made by a mastermind
Sarah Hamilfan oh yeah the show is ridiculously expensive

Is it dangerous to dream? Just ask Rapunzel and the ruffians.
Real 😂😂
I'm starting really like the soundtrack to this show more and more. I saw it when it came out, had the collectible CD and liked most of the cut numbers than the ones that were used and finalized lol. But after that it just got to much and to annoying. The Broadway show has reopened my love for this music. But will always love the composers for all that they add to Broadway.
This is the best song I’ve heard so far
Beautiful. 😊❄️☃️
Aaron J. Holt I agree
from this song and the other new one "monster" i cried...those two songs made the film sad...cuz it really express elsas feelings who is the tragic and sad character in the movie
This and monster and true love are definitely my faves released so far. I relate to each so hardly its lowkey scary
This song is so gorgeous ahh
Some of the original Frozen songs were fun, but didn't quite have that classic Disney feel to them. But this song has Disney Magic all over it. I really wish it would have been part of the Frozen movie so I could hear it in Disneyland D:
May 1, Tony Nominations for 72nd Awards June 10, all the best Frozen Cast and Crew aloha.
I know frozen was awesome
This is beautiful
The whole song is beautiful but that choral fanfare at 3:04 gave me chills!
OMGGG!! THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL! ❤❤😢😍
Beautiful!!!
The piano at the beginning sounds like the beginning of Show Yourself
I agree, it seems as if they took a lot of inspiration from the sound track of the frozen films. I heard that too! Some of the scores sound like parts of "let it go" too, I noticed. And, around 3:00, it sounds so much like the music during the coronation in the film and on the credits of frozen 1.
I think its cute that she sings to Anna
I'm screaming of happiness right now
Heartbreaking!! But amazing.
just love it. so nice to hear from Elsa again
