- Brilliant 1977 solo single from ex-PINK FAIRIES, MOTÖRHEAD, UFO, SHAGRAT guitarist, released on Stiff Records.
Video edited together from a multitude of disparate sources by me in 2016.
I understand Larry isn't currently in the best of health & would like to wish the great man a speedy recovery.
Up the Pinks!
No mistaking that Paul Gray bass playing. It’s the perfect complement to Larry’s guitar. What a great song.
Yeah, I've gotta put my hands up, I've no idea who Paul Gray is (as I write) - but I came on here to say that whoever the bassist is, he's top notch!
Wow. I had no idea that Paul Gray played bass on this until now.
There's no mistaking it either.
That's Paul style with his famous top end Rickenbacker bass sound with the Damned.
And Eddie & the Hot Rods before that.
Fantastic bassist.
Did you know he once recorded bass as a session musician for Andrew Ridgeley of Wham.
That current bassist for PiL played for the Spice Girls 😀
@@twistedspanner I never knew about the Andrew Ridgely thing. Interesting. I’m guessing that was on his solo album? I’d like to hear that. I do remember the stuff he did with UFO, a couple of years after he left The Damned, and more recently the recordings he did with Professor & The Madman (with Rat Scabies on drums - the greatest rhythm section since Paice and Glover).
@@Shikta-poobah67 I think I heard him say he did a session for Andrew Ridgeley himself up here on one of his own videos or an interview. I'm not too sure tho.
Did Andrew Ridgeley do a second album?
I've never heard him play with UFO or the Professor & the Madman.
I'll check the latter out.
@@twistedspanner I highly recommend the song “Seance” (also an album title), by P&TMM. That one really showcases PG’s talent.
One of the most underrated rock guitarists ever.
Paul Grays bass 👌
I posted on Facebook, once, that I use to do this tune with my old band, The Carolinas. Soon after there was a reply, from Larry, no less, saying, "What do you mean use to?"
Simply great. I still sing this song regularly to myself at work after all these years and the picture of Larry on the single sleeve is absolutely iconic. The version on the live stiffs album is terrific as well. God bless you, Larry.
RIP, Larry Wallis... :(
I don't necessarily have a favorite song but Police Car is certainly on the list. Even as you listen to the lyrics, you feel like you can see the scenes of what's going on in the song, make sense? Larry paints an imagine in the listeners mind so well. Like a movie in audio. It's fantastic. RIP Larry.
Yeah, it feels like it's out of Grand Theft Auto - but from Britain, in the '70's! Well, it's definitely more "The Sweeney" than "Mr. Plod" anyway!
Yes. Absolutely. The imagery is like a great film.
Fantastic Great DAYSSSSSSSS
Larry is my HERO
Rock like this and you get to live forever.
RIP larry
He did not
@@kennynadin9200 true, but the song will, I gather that's what he meant.
REST IN PEACE ... buddy !!! en route to eden again , soon jammin' with good old lemmy , eddy , philty !!!
He didn't turn up to rehearsals back in 75' that's how Motorhead became a 3-piece.
@@zodiac6968 That is sad. I like this guy. --Life is not easy for many.
We all have problems. It is sad. Wasted from a weary world 🌍. Artists are very affected.
I'm armed, and dangerous
I prowl the streets at night
I howl when I get the scent
Turn on my flashing light
I sit in the shadows
Waiting for a fight
If you see a creep
In your rear view mirror
It's a hungry black and white
'Cos I'm a police car
Police car
I'm a police car
Police car
Hey kid, you need to score
And there ain't no help in sight
Why not hit the liquour store
The one that stays awake all night
Ain't no-one around to see
Just the night shift cleaning the street
And with a breeze
"I want to freeze"
The garbage truck is the heat
'Cos I'm a police car
Police car
I'm a police car
Police car
I got a short wave memory
The facts just keep me free
I keep two friends along for company
and a shotgun under my seat
I got speed, I got power
I got a V8 heart
Don't try to run, forget the gun
I cut you down before you start
'Cos I'm a police car
Police car
I'm a police car
Police car
I'm a police car
Police car
Ok sucker let's you an' me go for a ride
Nice!!!
It's "It was a breeze / Hold it, freeze"
great great song
@@publicanimal you can almost feel it...awesome lyrics.

The MAN
Great Video. Thanks. No Larry isn't too good. I saw him two days ago. XX
I'm very sorry to hear that Larry's not doing well. I've never met the man, but please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery & remind him that his considerable talents and recorded legacy are still very much appreciated and enjoyed by those of us 'in the know'.
You know how you'd never know a British rock star was British until they spoke? When they sing they sound American? With Larry there's no doubt. He's that rare example of "British singing."
Larry had awesome hair , a look like no other ! This and many other Larry Wallis Songs along with The Battered Wives first album remind me of what The Alice Cooper Group should’ve melded into , Original Punk Rock n Roll
I have no memory of this at all !
I've just reacquainted myself with Snips version on the newly re-released 1979 La Rocca album - I never knew it was a cover
Snips version is darker
You arrested my heart x
Nice work
I'll have what he's having... Killer
Brilliant
Yeah, fantastic version with PG on bass. To be honest, I went off Motorhead after Larry left. They were all poppy after that.
“Poppy”? Really? I’ll give you different, but late 70’s Motörhead was anything *BUT* “poppy”.

Where did the first clip come from?
I prefer the b side from his Motorhead days - On Parole
What a man and what a song❤ Reminds me of Judge Dredd, not Trev although he is c😂
