- We finally finish up installing the top on the 2006 Mazda MX-5.
And yes, it's exactly as thrilling as the title suggests.
It was a miserable job that is not meant for old guys who are not very limber. If I can take one thing from this job it's that I need to start doing yoga. Or something similar to stretch me out a bit.
That or hire a 20 ish year old to do the actual work while I direct and cajole from a safe distance.

Keep in mind that the pay is horrible, the boss is an asshole, and you'll be working in Nebraska. It's an amazing trifecta if you're a masochist.
Just wanted to say a big kuddos and thank you for the excellent camera work and many angles. I'm contemplating a mad scientist roof project and your video showed so much detail on how the roof operations works that I'm able to plan without having the actual car in front of me and taking the top apart. Excellent job!
so time consuming but yet satisfying to have a new top. job well done.

I can't believe how much of a pain in the ass it was. If I ever have another miata it'll have to be the retractable hardtop.

If you had to guess labor hours involved in the replacement of the top what is your estimate. I’m going to have to do this for my girlfriend’s car, just curious if I’m going to need to rent her a car for a month while I’m replacing it 😂
If you don't get distracted and bust ass it can be done in a day, or take it easy and spend a weekend without a lot of stress. If you've got younger knees it'll go much easier that it looks in the video. 😄

Hey man, I have some 3 1/2" coaxial Hertz speakers for you, brand new still in the box for this.
That would have been good to have BEFORE I stuck it back together! 🤣
