We are considered titans to cats, and yet they've tamed us into bringing them food and shelter at all times
Hobby zoologist here: yes, animals do care about beauty. However, it has a much more important meaning than just being pleasing to the eye. Please remember that nature by itself is a cold and heartless place. If you are too weak or too slow, you WILL die. A way to kinda cheat the system is to be virtually invisible by blending in with the background. If an animal is donning beautiful colours now, that means that it is basically living live on hard mode deliberately. If you do that and STILL survive till adulthood, that means you must be exceptionally strong or fast or adapted to your surroundings in some other way. That's why a female will always choose the male with the brightest of colours. A rather unknown example of that would be the ladybird spider _Eresus kollari_
Meanwhile the poisonous animals with bright, vibrant colors use them to warn predators not to eat them, unless they wish to suffer a slow painful death.

As for humans being cute to any animal, I remember a female gorilla cared for a human boy who fell into their enclosure and was injured. She handled him like she would handle a gorilla baby, and handed him to the zookeepers

I remember a number of kids in high school who ran like Titans 😂 some people really don't know how to do something as basic as running properly. 🤣 Wrists flapping in the breeze, arms bouncing left & right... and no those weren't students with intellectual disabilities. Which makes their floppy running even funnier.

There is many videos with cats suddenly but playfully biting people. Maybe thats can be something like cute aggression episodes. I like to think that happens because of cuteness. Even if i thought that my parrot is ugly from the begining, right now everything completely different, cos somehow it's ugly silly beautyfulness is cute for me now, so maybe it can change, even if u are not cute for cat yet

You know Fauna, the fact that you came to the realization that elephants can still be cute despite all of those other factors, should *probably* give you confidence that Snail might actually find you cute as well. Snail's perception of you is probably enhanced anyway since you've taken such great care of him for so long. 💜

It's possible animals have an equivalent sense of "cute": many can recognize if an animal/human is a baby or a child, and will interact with them accordingly.
You often see this with dogs, but cats have also showed signs of being aware a puppy or a human baby is similar to a kitten, and let them play around, touch their tails or faces, without reacting in the same way they normally do with adults.
Given it's not something instinctively beneficial for them: not their own children, not their own species, almost trigger their self-defense instinct - it might be possible that they're doing this because of a higher cognitive perception: group cohesion (taking care of other babies), but also seeing the smol beings as endearing and possibly, cute.
This is weird for Fauna to think about because I thought, if anyone, Fauna would understand animals a bit more. Animals don't have senses of "cute" or "beauty" in the same way humans do. Animals function solely off of emotional connection and survival advantage. Your cat doesn't view you as some hulking monster, it views you as a very big animal that gives it attention and cares for it. They likely get confused by things we do, but that is simply because cats don't understand human things, which is normal of any animal. As for beauty and smell, your cat doesn't care if you are the most beautiful or ugliest creature alive, it loves you based on how well you treat them and care for them. Smell, on the other hand, is one of two things. Disgust because ew stinky (Youd have to smell horrible), and recognition because your cat knows who you are by how you smell. This means, unless you smell like literal sewage, your cat LOVES how you smell.
This goes for most animals too, primarily ones tamed by humans, but even in the wild those aspects are very much used simply for survival purposes.
nah i dont chase my pets to shower them with affection, i let them come to me and ask for pets that way it becomes a rare commodity.. works with ppl too tho it's frowned upon
