      We would've had Ray talk about experiences with so many top guys from Macho Man's possessiveness towards Elizabeth to Triple H's main event potential.

      As one of the few wrestlers who was around for most of the federation era and the attitude era, his insights would have been great to hear. We have missed out on many great interviews like that, from people like rude, hennig, british bulldog, etc. A lot of stories died with those guys.

      He wasn't lying. Remember the days of the "territories" before Vince bought everything and everyone up? That hurt the sport but also kayfabe dying was another blow to the sport altogether. Sad to say, it will never be the way it once was, part of my childhood.

    Ray was in pretty good shape in his attitude era return. He legit looked like a bad ass when he was feuding with Austin.
    Anyone saying the date is wrong, he said "WWE", so it had to be 2002 or after.

    God bless Ray. He was TRUE to this business and he couldn't have said it any better. It starts with supporting these indy promotions and there talent. Before it EVER winds up getting to the level of say a; WWE, WCW, or now AEW. RIP big man you were one helluva talent and great guy.

      He also was in a serious motorcycle accident like 2 years before his passing that out him on the sidelines for a while.. When I was a young kid back in 1989 I loved his character and everyone behind the scene says he was a very nice guy and respectful person.. rest in peace Ray "big bossman" Traylor !!

      During the attitude era he weighed roughly 300 pounds in his days when he first came on the scene 1988 range he was over 350 pounds

    Sad that he died. He died loving the sport of wrestling and stayed true to it whether he was the WCW bouncer or the WWE lawman heel or face.

      I think he isn't underrated. His matches weren't the best, but he was a pleasure to work with, and drew money. He got the short end of the stick, willingly fed himself to get some guys over, hanged!, worked around the kennels... lol not his fault it went that way. We still acknowledge him to this day, and he is in the hall of fame.

    I'm so confused by this. Does he say he's competing in "ECW"? ECW folded in 2001 and he died in 2004 (when this interview was conducted).

      was thinking the same thing. i'm guessing he just got the name wrong of the indie wrong, he was working EWF indie shows around this time.

    What a talent he was. And especially in his prime, holy shit could that dude move for a big man. He was very one note, which is think is why he only went so far, but was pretty damn over, and his promos were great too.

    Ray was one of that first generation of rare athletic big men with Bam Bam, Vader, and a couple others. One of my absolute all time favorites. RIP Bossman.

    I used to watch wrestling when I was a kid back throughout the 1980s and early 1990s and I can't say that I ever remember hearing of the WWE. I remember the WWF and the WCW back in those days, but WWE is just something I don't remember.

      WWE and WWF are the same company. in 2002 thanks to the World Wild Life Fund Lawsuit, who said they had the WWF name first so WWE changed it's name from the World Wrestling Federation to World Wrestling Entertainment

    True story: Ray Traylor got his start in wrestling as enhancement talent in the old NWA. After a few months, they took him off TV and repackaged him as Big Bubba Rogers, the Midnight Express' enforcer.A year or two later he came to the WWF where he was the Big Boss Man.

      Yeah, the timelines don't match, unless a) Ray was working for a Shindie group using those initials, or b) he was sick for over three years before his passing. I would assume the interview took place sometime in the early 2000s, so I'm guessing Shitty Indie.

      This was at an ECW house show in 2000. This interview was shown in a DVD released in 2004.

    He didn't look very good here...he's taking a lot of deep breaths and it seemed like he was having trouble getting words out. I understand he just competed in a match but he looked like he was struggling. Poor guy

    One man I miss is the Big Boss man. Loved his matches 1:37 with Hulk Hogan. Loved his catch an opponent off the ropes for a slam that ends it.

    Big Boss Man got it! This is a man who was on the big stage with the best and most popular wrestlers in the business.. He meant that! He didn't bury the youth, he said support them..     Funny thing, Ray would wrestle Sabu on house shows in ECW. How about that! Doink beat Bret at a house show, yes sir. Yes indeed. Flair and Austin we’re gonna be partnering at one point. People say when Mick was told he’ll be entering a program with Mark Caraway (Undertaker), Cact ran out of the building in shock. Good ol’ Mick. Owen didn’t need a title or gimmick, thus he never had one.
