    Yes, pressing is so important! If your fabric is wrinkled before you sew it, it is so difficult to get it to cooperate. And even though pressing a seam might feel like an interruption, it’s faster and yields a better result to get the seam flat and locked i. So it cooperates with the next part of your sewing.
    These were great tips! Thanks for sharing.

      You're most Welcome. You're so correct WaterNai. Pressing makes the work go smoother and faster. It even enables you to enjoy the work more. Thank you so much for the feedback. I love your name WaterNai. It has a certain vibe to it.

      @@luyasi Yes, agreed-sewing so much more enjoyable when the fabric is pressed. But maybe part of that is that I find pressing quite satisfying in and of itself. Thanks! Glad you like my name. 😊

    I have sewn for many years. My mother asked my sister in law to teach me to sew. After teaching me how to take body measurements, make patterns and make dresses, pants etc . It was time to work in her shop where they specialized in gowns and suits. It started with helping. After three years i could make a gown or suit from start to finish on my own. The last suit I made was for my son when he graduated many years ago. Now I prefer to sew quilts and clothes for me. On occasion a nice shirt for my husband.

    I just came by your video and I’m thankful for your insight on this issue. I’m not professionally trained but I love the idea of being able to make simple and uncomplicated pieces for myself. I was also tired of paying an arm and a leg to dry cleaners for simple alterations to my clothes so I bought myself a sewing machine and it’s saved me money and time and I’ve learned a lot too from tutorials on yt. But sometimes I don’t enjoy sewing because of this particular issue you’ve addressed. Yesterday I tried making a simple kimono dress I’ve put off making for so long. I decided to make it yesterday and when I tell you it took me the whole day to make something that only took 30 minutes tops for someone else, I’m not even exaggerating. 😩. I was so tired and it sucked the joy of sewing out of me. So I’m glad to know that even some of the trained suffer from this issue and I’m not alone. Thank you very much and your tips and secrets are well noted.🙏🏽

    Thank you for this wonderful video.. I'm from India.
    All the 3 tips you have given are highly useful.
    Particularly I like the 3rd one, when you are meticulous to avoid mistakes, you have more chances to make it.
    I would like to share one more tip which has helped me a lot.
    Before going to start sewing an apparel, all the pieces should be cut ready, including even non- important things like bias tapes, button pieces etc and stored in an accurate way, so that you won't miss it.
    When I was learning, I used to cut pieces in between sewing. That took me a lot of time.
    After that, even if I cut before hand, I misplace them and searching them would take a lot of time which gives a lot of frustration and demotivation.

    • @luyasi
      @luyasi  4 месяца назад +1

      You're welcome Lalitha. You're so correct; cutting and organizing all the pieces before starting the project is so important. Organizing everything keeps them handy and makes the work go fast. There was a time i misplaced the sleeve of a shirt i cut because i didn't organize all the pieces together. Thank you so much for this feedback. I love India and I'll come visit in the near future.

      Lolzzz, that's true, i can relate. When the bobbin runs out during sewing, and you stop to get it filled, it kills momentum and prolongs the work. Yes. You're correct, but the ironing during the sewing process doesn't often take much time except when you're doing a complex design. You're welcome. Industrial machines are much faster than a manual one. Depends on the make and speed of the industrial machine, it can be 5 times to 10 times faster. It also depends on the user; some experienced people can be very fast with a manual machine. You can also get tired faster on a manual because of the stress of pedaling and that's why most people attach a motor to their manual machine. I'll do a video soon on the pros and cons of both the industrial and manual machine.

    Thank you for the great suggestions. My problem is that placing the pattern parts on the cloth and cutting the cloth take very long (the cloth is already ironed). One reason is that I need to be very careful to have the same seam allowance everywhere and measure where I cut over and over again. Would you have any advice?

    • @luyasi
      @luyasi  4 месяца назад +1

      You're most welcome Christiane. Cutting is usually a very delicate issue whether you're cutting the fabric from a pattern piece or from scratch. It requires a lot of attention to details and time to avoid irreversible mistakes, so it's quite normal to spend time while cutting. There are techniques though that can speed up the cutting process. I'll do a separate video on it. Stay updated on the channel. Thanks for the feedback.

    Great tips!! I use all of these and didn’t realize they were helping me sew faster. People would be amazed at how fast I sew and I didn’t understand why. I thought everyone sews as fast as I do. My favorite tip is the last one! When I’ve had lots of time to sew I would try to be meticulously and it would slow me down and also I found myself making more mistakes 🤦🏾‍♀️ Thanks for this video

      @luyasi  4 месяца назад +6

      Yes. You're correct. It's very difficult to get pictures from clients. Try and invest in a manniquin; it will yield massive returns. You can start with a half body manniquin or a headless manniquin; it's cheaper. For the background, you can start with painting part of your wall and getting some artwork on it. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @luyasi
      @luyasi  4 месяца назад +1

      A good electric sewing machine that is strong enough to sew commercially is also quite expensive. It's almost as expensive as an industrial sewing machine. There are cheaper ones but those cheaper electric sewing machines cannot work well for long hours and they can't do heavy work. If you must buy an electric machine, get a heavy duty electric machine. As regards to brands, i've seen positive reviews about Alfa electric machine though I've not used it personally. Another alternative I'll suggest is to get a manual machine and attach a motor to it but if you want to get an electric machine, make sure it's a heavy duty electric machine. I'll review some sewing machine brands in a future video.
