When an objective function is of minimization type, you correctly said that while converting it to a maximization problem, the objective function is to be multiplied with -1. However, it is better to rename the new objective function as z*, which is nothing but -z. This can be done to avoid confusion among students. The steps have been explained very properly and nicely.
