Just like with football the seasons change with bands too. Some years are better than others. New faces, grades, experienced students, non-experienced students, new leaders, old leaders. However, there is always room for growth and improvement. As the Mardi Gras season approaches it is amazing to see the growth and talent from these young people. It is wonderful! In the past there were more middle schools to pull the most talented students from. Today, there are fewer middle schools with these fewer skilled students. It’s a matter of recruiting talent. Band was a huge culture for New Orleans. It was hiddenly stripped away from us with the politics of Hurricane Katrina. But we have thrived and will get better and better!
It really blows my mind how judgmental folks can be towards our young men, if they were out here doing bad thing "oh they need to be in activities and learning something" but now they doing activities "oh they sound a hot mess, they need to get it together" NEVER SATISFIED. I've watched my son (his first yr here) make such a huge effort to be in this band from in the heat all summer (them push ups, and laps) was crucial during the hot summer days but he didn't give up at all. He's managed to balance great grades and still do band. He's 13 and his the happiest he's ever been. I love this for him and I'll support him and ALL these boys forever. WILL NEVER JUDGE THEM
Yall the band is full of young 8th graders including mine, they really are trying hard. Im there every evening listening to them trying. They sound fantastic. Calm down. Dont matter the size, they are well-respected in the city and all over the United States, oh and in Paris 😉. Stop judging them, they not out here commiting crimes, build our young men up, grown up people ‼️
Waaaay too many mess ups here and there… some people in the drum section don’t know their parts… everyone looking around when the songs over… the atmosphere is way too relaxed… not use to seeing Aug like this. Let’s be real, I ain’t lying 🤷🏾♂️ this no hate at all, just observation But they do sound good…. Everything else is all over the place
I love my school but man we have to find a way back to the top band looks like the band is getting smaller not sure why the drum section is small not use to that
@@cjp84 yall worried about the wrong thing… Aug has had some small years in the past but the band was still on it! Size has nothing to do with how they’re performing in this video!
Getting there keep up the hard work fellas

@@sidneyjackson09 them being small is not the issue… the overall performance is the issue
@ that’s understandable just hate seeing a big band than small band
@@sidneyjackson09Grades was reason for there size.
