Yeah, that kind of sums up the whole series for me. This is one of those “deep mystery” shows like Lost or Alcatraz, that start with a strong and interesting premise, explore how people would react to unusual situations (that is the core of good SF), and gradually deepen the mystery, drawing the viewer in. So far so good. But like almost all of these kind of shows, it quickly devolves into exploring the same tired old tropes and archetypes, with both the writers and the characters leaving the overarching mystery to instead focusing on the minutiae of their changed everyday lives. The overarching plot does not really advance in the direction of any kind of resolution or explanation.
Having a good premise does not mean you’ll have a good story.

Theres electrical power lines underground that keeps the city’s light alive, which means it wasn’t cut by the dome. They literally could’ve dug a tunnel underground rather than using a nuclear bomb lol

I loved this series. Sad they didn't continue it as there was quite a cliffhanger at the end of the season.
Read the book. It gets really dark with a relatively unhappy ending.

@@KiemPlant I’ll be honest and say I haven’t watched the series. Watched several recaps but haven’t seen how they ended it. The explanation for the dome in the book is a bit funny and leads to the rather messed up ending. I believe they went a different route in the tv show though. But you’d know that better than me.

This is actually very scary to me. I used to have reoccurring dreams or nightmares actually about something very much like this happening. I could see my friends & family but could not touch or talk to them. There was never a way to get through the glass wall & it was the worst, most frightening nightmares I've ever had. It felt way too real & I hope I never dream this ever again! 😪
It must be you feeling somewhat neglected or something!! Im not sure ,just guessing, I used to dream something like that as a child, not exactly like this but ,i could never come in contact with my families ,like i was always in a distant and i shouted to them ,they never noticed.

I love how the kids on the porch looked directly at a nuclear detonation and can somehow still see. Even if it blocked the explosion and radiation the photons emitted would melt your retinas and they can clearly see through the dome lol.
I thought that too when I saw it, but since the dome is alien technology, maybe it can block all such effects.

Somehow Clifford Simak, who wrote the dome story much earlier (all flesh is grass), made it much more interesting.
Also, in his story suspense was much stronger, as the barrier there only blocked humans, and the bomb would obliterate the town.

As you can see at 7:12, the nuke destroyed right side of the outside world, which is realistic considering the fact that the nuke couldn't destroy The Dome or anything behind it.
Now that I think about it, wouldn't the town and its inhabitants be at least partially affected by radiation left from nuclear fallout if the dome disappears?

That was a seperate movie, where the people getting trapped inside the dome is an experiment of humans, with artificial zombies and creatures trying to kill them. Soon those creatures also destroyed the lab the researchers (who were doing the experiment) were in. And the trapped people finally knew what was happening.

An Alien conducting an experiment on Humanity knowing full well it would cause the deaths of many is definitely not friendly.
This is a similar premise to the Michael Grant 'Gone' series of books, the main differences being that in Gone, all the adults disappear when the dome appears and only the kids are left inside the dome...and then the kids start developing weird superpowers and it all starts turning to shit. Good books, to be fair.
Read this series too, and yeah Grant took the whole plotline in a great direction. It’s a great series and had some super high stakes. A show for it would be pretty awesome imo.

@Prvt. Harumi That doesn't matter when it's technology we know nothing about. The dome touches the ground. The bomb went off on top of the dome, outside of the town. Therefore, I think it might just be possible that, even were the shockwave to reverberate down the dome, it would disperse at its base in all directions BUT toward the town. The base of the dome could still block the vibrations. I know that that isn't how sonic vibrations work when it comes to every other situation known to man, but for this one, I'm willing to believe the dome can stop them.

Technically, there is a limit on how high the glass wall is because if it wasn’t infinite here we go off the earth into space, and if it was infinite, going down word, it would cut the earth in half or net section that town was cut off from so technically people are stuck inside an area can go over The barrier under it

I remember that TV show that was called dome. And it was good all the beginning but I started losing interest when they started getting groups together and all I don't know it got went from simple and enjoyable to complex I guess people like it complex characters and situations.
