Anybody can change.
I've seen Gange members leave all that behind. Giving food to the needy family and rides to hospital for different reasons.
And seen people struggle until they pass due to mental, physical pain,etc 18:52

I have wondered if they had meant they buried their weapons "for" peace. Still doesn't make a lot of sense, but that is what I had wondered
I thought that perhaps though Mormon added "or they buried the weapons of war, for peace", that the phrase "buried their weapons of peace" would still apply in this situtation because the Lamanites had made their swords clean through Christ and God, and therefore their weapons were no longer weapons of war, but of peace- because since they were cleansed they had not been used and their owners had vowed to never use them to shed the blood of man again.
