Agree with Coy in that I'm tired of people fancasting 30-40 year olds as X Men characters. Aside from Charles and Erik, they all need to be teenagers we've probably never heard of before. And if you're gonna get an established popstar for Dazzler then it probably needs to be Sabrina Carpenter or someone like that who is more relevant to the younger generations.
Agreed, even though the Fox New Mutants movie went over like a wet fart they had the right idea in casting young up and coming actors like Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor Joy (she was lesser known at the time of the production of the movie anyway lol) Marvel Studios needs to follow suit with the X-Men outside of Wolverine because he's supposed to be a grizzled older dude but they don't have to go 50+ with him either they could find an older 30s actor for Wolverine and put him with a bunch of teen and young adult X-Men actors. I do think that Storm and Rogue should be a little bit older as well so 30s and maybe late 20s to early 30s for Cylops, Beast, & Jean would be fine for them. Everyone else should be younger tho
It was a great series. The benefit it had, which it uses hugely to its advantage, was a somewhat self contained story set outside of the "real world" with limited need for CGI and action sequences (like we saw in the penultimate episode). Bring everyone together in the Young Avengers and each character is going to need to use their ability out in the world and have it look good. That's quite a bit of budget. So the question is will they fund it to reach the standard it needs? As Coy also said Agatha and Penguine both made a success of episodes that were episodes not bits of a big story chopped up. I'm sure you can do that for Young Avengers but it's going to be really tempting for them to just go back to chopping up a big story. So I'm not advocating for it to be a movie, more just flagging I think they need to be clever executing it as a show to have it be well recieved and successful.
2:10:06 this was hilarious. 😂 Perfect timing. Also, the questions at the end get much shorter answers. I get it, because you guys are tired. But I always hope mine get answered at the beginning.
I come to you from the future. The YA show will now be titled Champions due to the fact that the YA won't be that young by the time the project comes out. And the rosters are very similar.
Great as always, thanks guys! Loved the question on Underground HipHop...would be great if you guys had a longer conversation about it sometime down the road. @Coy: Love the passion about the K Dot album....and LOL about the liking what's cool comment 🙄😆 Did you check out the Doechii and Cordae albums?
Retconning that scene of the JLA isn't that much different than when David Chase cast Fairuza Balk in the finale of The Sopranos Season 3 and immediately recast for S4. Then went back and reshot the scene with her replacement and that's the version we see now... so, unless you watched it live or research it, you'd never know she was ever in the show. I don't blame Gunn for wanting to keep something that's working in canon... especially since it's only one quick scene at the end that is a problem.
Marvel is fine. Star Wars is fine dc is just in a new phase and it has nothing so far so why? Why do we do this? What happened to things just being fine and we move on? Not everything needs to change your life. Some things can just be ok.
Hey Kristian, just a heads up, if your source said "development", used that exact word, that means they will start the search for writers and come up with a story early next year, not that it will start filming then.
Love using Coy as a comics sounding board. Do a Powerbomb is a wrestling comic which has kept me off of it, but probably a bonus for Kristen. Surprised nobody brought up Selena Gomez or Miley for Dazzler
I watch most all superhero movies in theaters on opening weekend. Word of mouth and RUclips channel reviews on kraven will heavily influence if I see it in theaters.
Regarding Young Avengers, I think Iman will be the lead of the show but not the leader of the team. I'm really hoping they further establish Elijah Bradley in Cap 4 cos there's a lot of good material to be mined with that character. Also, I've been curious as to if and how they're gonna introduce Hulkling. They might just use Skaar instead but I was not a fan of his introduction so we'll see. It's a shame they won't be able to fully adapt that first arc with Iron Lad/Kang, which I can only assume was the original plan.
Disney is never going to have longer episodes despite everyone asking for it young avengers gonna be 25-30 mins with 15 mins of credits and it’s going to make the show feel over just when it starts getting started
Doing Young Avengers as a TV series is a much better idea. It gives more time for character development and could bring in new fans. I just hope it goes into production sooner than later or they're just gonna be regular Avengers. I also hope the episodes are longer than half an hour. As for Kraven, I think it'll do fine. The buzz around it seems to be mostly positive, if a little skeptical. Sony really needs it to be good, though. On the DC side of things, I'm also confused by James Gunn's statements on how Peacemaker is still canon in the DCU, but I trust that he'll make it make sense once we see season 2. I'm glad it's being integrated into the DCU. It's good of a show to waste. And I'm curious who will play Deathstroke, but I doubt it'll be Joe Manganiello this time. It's too bad he never got to play him.
I absolutely believe that streaming show is the way to go for Young Avengers but they better knock it out the park if they want the characters to have legs for a movie. The young Avengers aren't popular enough in the MCU to carry a movie, I THINK they might be popular in the comics but I'm not really into them. But I think if they give us a series that gives us an opportunity to fall in love with the characters then maybe they'll be able to carry a movie.
Kristian, was the Caster your only audio interface? If you have a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and a basic interface like a Scarlett 2i4, for instance, you can probably set up a quick, virtual mixing board on the cheap, to help control the audio levels a little more. Your mic isn't "hot" enough in terms of the signal--well, either that, or you're working blind because you're unable to properly gain-stage right now without the Caster?
If Young Avengers begins development in early 2025, it's likely not coming out in 2026. Agatha: House of Harkness was announced in October 2021. It didn't begin filming until January 2023 which is over a year in development. It filmed for a little over 4 months. Young Avengers hasn't officially been announced yet with a showrunner. My bet is it will film in early 2026 and will come out a year later in 2027, probably around the same time Secret Wars releases. Marvel Studios/television plays with the timeline & it's not always linear. My guess it will be set before Doomsday and probably how the team goes into that film. However, with all that said, if Marvel Television has been developing a Young Avengers project for months without officially announcing it. A lot of that time in development may have already passed. When we hear of an official showrunner announcement, we'll have a better idea to when it drops on Disney+ because whoever it is will determine how quickly this project develops. Even with a mid-to-late summer 2025 filming start Young Avengers probably won't release until late 2026 at best, still after Doomsday but set before that film.
2hr 20mins is a movie lol at that point why not just put it in theaters and make more money off it? A limited series is better cause it's more time to flesh the characters out imo
Kraven is my all time favourite Spider-Man villain and I've wanted to see him for a long time. I am not particularly hopeful it's gonna be good and the comments from the director just sound desperate to be honest. Like a cheating ex lover begging you to take them back. 'Please come and see me, I won't hurt you again. It won't be like last time I promise".

The one thing about Young Avengers that makes it unique to other Marvel teams is its high percentage of LGBTQ characters. If it was to be truthful to those characters, it would never have got that as a film. There are too many countries that would boycott it due to its LGBTQ representation. Marvel Studios would have to either cut the budget back to accommodate the loss of revenue or severely reduce the amount of LGBTQ content so countries would be able to cut around those scenes. It is sad this is still the state of the world in 2024 but the success of Agatha All Along did prove a Young Avengers series with gay characters can be done on that platform.
Actually, in the comics, there are many LGBTQ characters among the Young Avengers members, but if the project is to be successful, hopefully Marvel will focus more on the story
I thought he was good too, but not big screen good. In a series he'd be fine but he never felt big enough as Slade to be a movie star to me. Also that's CW so it has no shot lol Then people would be crying for Grant Gustin to come back even tho he said he's done playing the character
