What is the story of the game? I never see the franchise of Macross but when i was a kid i always play this game.
I'm curious and specially for the last level, the girl with blue hair and that strange giant baby boss.
I always wondered if this game had any special chip or it just simply well optimized. Unlike most of the shmups in the platform, this one only has slowmo when some of those weird background effects appear (and not all the time lol)... or at least it's not as present as annoying
It does have an extra chip to aid in rendering all the sprite and effects but I forget what it's called. The only shmup on the system that runs at a rock solid frame rate without enhancement chips is Super Aleste I think.

The reason it didn't make it to the west was because of Harmony Gold holding the copyrights to everything Macross made it a legal pain in the ass.
