Watching years of dirt and neglect get washed away just melts my stress away
Thanks Luke! We really appreciate it🧡
That’s my first road bike in 90’s !!! Gift from my parents, very happy to see it into your hands, nice job ❤
That is awesome!🧡
Same here, my first race bike . I think it was 1987.
Same here, my first road bike, received second hand from an uncle.
It was a quite light bike for the time.
Mine had the shift levers made of black plastic (12 speed)
Also the support of the seat was all plastic to be lighter, it broke during I was riding it...ouch...
Same here. It was a Gift from my father in 1985. I was 14 years old and It made me proud, riding this bike. Having this bike still in my property and riding still, last time one week ago. I won't give it away, because it remembers me to my father and the good old days with him, as he passed long time ago.
thank you for demonstrating how every part of this bike can be serviced, it answers so many doubts I had about how to service my own vintage road bikes.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching 🧡
My bike is only sixteen years old but it was a cheap bike with old school tech. It's given faithful service and gets me to work.
That’s what it’s all about! Don’t fix what isn’t broken 🧡⚙️
Hi guys as per most of the comments I love it when you get an old bike in as it’s really satisfying seeing it brought back to life 🙂
Thank you for watching! We will have many more on the way in future 🧡⚙️
The old Peugeot bikes just look so elegant…must be the frame, very slender albeit quite heavy. Brilliant job as always!
We agree! The more we see the more we can appreciate them, they’re all very nice 🧡⚙️
My sister and brother-in-law got “matching” Peugeot 12-speeds in the late 80s… his in a mustard yellow and hers in a metallic turquoise green… classic. i bought a late 90s purple Peugeot Origin mountain bike.
Absolutely beautiful restoration. I'd much prefer to buy a bike like this than a new one especially after you've brought it back to life
Very kind!🧡⚙️
I find these videos to be great service to whole bike aftermarket. The benefits people get from these vids are very benefit for everyone.
Very big compliment thank you 🧡
After my Grifter and a BMX I had a Peugeot racer just like this in the latter part of the 80s when I was in my mid-teens. I loved that bike but it was sadly stolen out of a friend’s garage. Thank you for bringing this one back to life.
Great memories! Thanks for watching🧡⚙️
I brought a Raleigh Record off E-Bay for £40. Stripped it down and changed all cables and bearings and renewed a lot of parts. I was fortunate to work at a company that did powder coating and had it done in a nice blue. It was a superb bike and I enjoyed taking it out for a long ride. Thanks for this video.
That’s a great story! Enjoy it🧡
Proves adage “nothing more expensive than something you get for free” 😊😂. Incredible work!
lol we haven’t heard that one before but it applies to many decisions in our life 😂⚙️🧡
Old bike...my favourite...what a result - those close-ups are mint Simon!
Thanks Jason we too have watched the before and afters about 20 times lol🧡
So nice to see this one being restored. In probably 1980 / 1981 I bought the "grey paint with Orange Peugeot logo" version of this from my hard-earned paper-boy money, with a little birthday contribution by my parents. It formed the basis for my exploring our province at the age of 15/16. I loved that bike to bits, it got stolen 13 years later...
Huh I have the same bike. I bought it last year for £20!
Gutted it got stolen, both me and Simon also put miles into paper rounds and know that feeling of earning on a bike in the wet🧡
For those that tinkers w bikes. I guess they can really feel the joy or pleasure when the mechanical parts move and guide smoothly after all the cleaning and lubrication. Feels like mechanical gods align and restore the magic feel of the bike.
Yes we never can quite capture it on video🧡
Nice job! Great that this was saved from the skip. Nice bike.
Thanks very much!🧡⚙️
Always a great watch and a lovely restoration to an old bike. I restored an old Raleigh Pioneer last year and enjoyed every moment of it. They certainly do come up really well after a bit of fettling and TLC 👍
Yes they do! Thanks again🧡⚙️
Wow. That is the most comprehensive restoration I’ve seen on your channel. With so many issues to address, your patient thoroughness really shines; it’s this kind of approach that ensures, the aesthetic, function, and safety afforded by your fidelity to details. Great job!!
Very very kind words there thank you William!🧡⚙️
Nice work my friend. Those Peugeots are favorites of mine, even the lower end ride great! It is ready for happy miles!
Wow, what a save from the skip and what a restoration, brought back many memories of my 7 mile each way daily commute to work in the early 90’s on my Peugeot bike, in those days I could eat a mars bar for breakfast and never put on weight, now I can’t even look at a mars bar with out immediate weight gain 😂. I guess like the bike I’m vintage as well.
lol I understand the Mars bar all too well🧡⚙️
AMAZING restoration and saved from the skip for 1000s of miles of more fun. I have one similar to this and it's really fun to ride, very agile and quick to accelerate. And mine's white as well, so a bit flashy :-)
Great job guys and the customer for saving this classic bike.
Brilliant. Good to see a decent wagon saved from the skip. What a transformation.
Thanks again James!🧡⚙️
Great transformation but i love the fact that this guy is wearing a luxury watch (Rolex) whilst doing it. Made my day that as i collect watches but i wear them all also no matter the occasion. Great video, many thanks.👍
I was just thinking this guy is nuts to be wearing that fancy watch! I wear one of my Casio watches when doing work like this. 😁
@@dphachey not quite Rolex, its a Tudor but still a big hand for this guy
@@tiempodesobrahn No, I'm pretty sure it's a two tone Rolex Oysterquartz.
What a time warp. I had a metallic turquoise version in '87. I have such fond memories of it. Thank you so much for this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!🧡
Superb and sympathetic restoration, one of the best yet.
Thank you! Checkout tonight’s video to see it out moving! 🧡⚙️
I had a similar bike back in the late 80s. Absolutely loved it, although probably have rose tinted specs. Brilliant job on the restoration chaps.
Thanks very much!🧡⚙️
That is a fabulous transformation 👏
Thanks again!🧡⚙️
I really loved the 87 Halfords Peugeot. Reynolds 753. Fully C-Record groupset, Campagnolo Record wheels, Cinelli cockpit, and Turbo Saddle. A true professional bicycle. This bicycle reminds me of 87 ANC Halfords Peugeot. Thanks for bringing it back to life.
Unbelievable to watch i used have a Peugeot Roubaix 1983 so brought back some memories what a gift to transform this bike back to original a true professional at work.
That’s great to hear!🧡
My first bike was a bright yellow Peugeot that was a hand me down from my elder brother.. absolutely battered beyond belief and that paint had faded to a strange neon green colour.. nothing worked right on it. but the adventures I had on it where a massive part of my childhood. is kids back then ran everything into the ground. I had that bike off ramps into swamps and everything 😂. to this day if I ever see a yellow bike I looks to see if it’s a Peugeot.
That’s a great memory🧡⚙️
Loved this. Memories of my very first road bike. Little blue 5s Peugeot in c1984. Like this one, I was an original 1x drivetrain enthusiast. Thanks Gents, smashing work as ever 👊
Checkout tonight’s video, got something new on the way…🧡⚙️
Amazing work in this one. Congrats to the owner and to you as a mechanic.
Check out tonight’s video… I am the owner 😂🧡⚙️
thats how to rescue a tired bike from the scrap heap 👌long live the cotter pin 😊🚴
Thanks Geordie!🧡💪🏼
There's a special vice you can get to remove them. no need for the hammer, which can deform the pins.
@@aq7705 Replace them after removal; they are too cheap to be re-used.
I’ve had my a long battle with cotter pins.
Another superb service, really bringing this back from the dead (or skip in this case). Just goes to show how any bike can be salvaged and used for many a year to come 🇫🇮😎
I’m planning on getting back into riding on it! You’ll see in tonight’s video more but yes this one should hopefully have some genuine miles put through it!🧡
What an outstanding transformation for the bike. The Video is absolutely brilliant. It is amazing to me that the old bikes had such great quality parts that are pretty much bomb proof. Thanks for the awesome share, a real gem.
We appreciate all the big compliments, yes these really were bullet proof!🧡⚙️
Those Peugeots look so cool, you did a great job bringing it back to life!
Thanks very much! Plenty more on the way in future I’m sure 🧡⚙️
LOVE it. That's my favourite yet. I've always liked the simple colour schemes on those old peugeot racers. Great work all.
The more we see them the more we appreciate the whole range of Peugeots!🧡
I was fortunate to see this bike in the flesh/steel yesterday, a great job indeed! ;-)
I've got an late 80s/early 90s Peugeot Aspin, it was a bit of a mess when i got it, but cleaned it and rebuilt it and now it's usable again!
Awesome!🧡⚙️
Good job m8, theres nowt better than bringing a tired old bike back to life
Agreed! Thank you🧡⚙️
Another brilliant restoration. I’ve had at least six Peugeots in my time so great to see one getting the best Lee restoration love.
Wow that’s quite the collection! Glad you enjoyed it again 🧡⚙️
wow. i had this same exact model bike. It served me well and then it was just too old so I left it outside the house for someone to pickup and use for free. I think the metal collector took it. memories.
Good memories 🧡
I would love to see the reaction of the owners when they are getting their bikes back
Wow ! another great restoration. I must get some silicon polish . I have a few vintage bikes in my collection, 1984 Ciocc and 1985 Bridgestone 500 . Both have been upgraded to STI shifting and always ridden. Thank you. KB.
Great collection!🧡
Love a bike speeds up load and a cup of tea on a Friday night
Enjoy!🧡☕️
A friend of mine had one just like it and it brought back happy memories. Thanks for that as well as the good information 👍 👏
Awesome!🧡
Brilliant job on a lovely bike from my youth.
Great to hear you had memories with this one 🧡⚙️
I did the Argus Tour here in Cape Town in 3hrs 2 mins back in the late 80’s on a Peugeot Le Mans. Loved that bike.
Awesome story!🧡
Love these bike restorations and this is an interesting Peugeot. Only one chainring and brake cable routed through the top tube. Oh, that's a TA bottle cage and good ol' Benotto ribbon handlebar tape. It's because of the videos you and your son do that has made me get interested in bike repair again.
That’s incredible to hear, thanks for all your support again🧡
I do love these old abandoned bikes getting the full treat. It is by far my favourite videos. Thank you for very nice content - and some nice watches.....yes i also keep an eye on those! All the best from a Danish wiever.
Thanks very much for all those kind words 🧡🇩🇰
Just in the process of restoring an early 90’s Olmo Giro, hope it comes out as nicely as this Peugeot.
Good luck and enjoy!🧡
Another classic saved. Great job 👍🏻
super job. always great to see any bike getting saved. shame about the old bar tape - if it was in good condition it'd probably be worth more than the bike!!
i've got 2 old bikes - a Major Nicholls in 531C, and a Peugeot in 531 Pro tubing. i love them both. sadly i can no longer ride but they're still lovely to look at
Nice collection there! Thanks for the support 🧡
Love the fact that you show that anything can be restored and recovered with a bit of love and attention. Definitely getting from the channel that you both love the classic bike restauration too. 🎉 Had a crack myself and bought a couple of scrap 80s rides together to be my single speed pub bike. Love it 🙌
They make perfect pub bikes, that’s what all our customers use them for 🧡⚙️
Absolutely my new favourite video from you guys. This must have been soooo satisfying to work through.
Thank very much! We really appreciate all that support!🧡⚙️
Amazing - love these old restorations! Keep skip hunting! ❤
More on the way! We just need to find them lol🧡⚙️
looks amazing again i have a old Gazelle Champion Mondial in my barn from beginning 80's since i'm Dutch it is fun to own one
Very cool! Enjoy working on it and riding it🧡🇳🇱
Lovely restoration, once again breathing new life into these lovely older bikes. I've just inherited a 1990's Bob Jackson.
Enjoy it!🧡
Beautiful Restoration. Great to see a balance of old school knowledge and tips with modern tools and products. It would be cool if there was a clip of someone riding it after the resto!
Check out tonight’s video for that! We really appreciate it🧡⚙️
I have a 1975 Peugeot with 6 speed cassette amd a cyclone derailleur. I think the big ring is 36 tooth so it is actually a legit climber in today's world. I love this machine and need to give it some love. Thanks for sharing your process. What an amazing video! Cheers , Fellas. Now I gotta buy some sh*t on your site. Peace.. ❤
Awesome bike enjoy your work and thanks for all the support!🧡
Best refurb yet superb attention to detail, it never fails to amaze me how you remember to put the rear mech back in the correct order, love this channel best one on you tube by a country mile.
Very very kind thank you!🧡
My first bike in 86😃 great memories blasting around the Rhigos and Bwlch mountain roads racing Fiestas on the downs👍 it was either this or a Falcon, the red to yellow decals won it for me. From memory mine was £199
Awesome story!🧡
I had a similar model. Same colour, fork was chrome, simplex derailleur, stronglight crankset, Modolo brake levels without secondary levers. Rims for tubular sew up tires. Was 10 speed with front derailleur First real road bike.
The restoration is beautiful. I know it’s a simple aspect, but the syringe idea for the oil and grease is brilliant!
Thanks Scott 🧡
The most simple Peugeot of this time, but after your incredible work it looks great. I like to rebuild old racebikes myself. Most of them i owned and drive myself.
Enjoy your work!🧡
Very thorough as usual. This bike is weird. Cotter pin chainset and steel wheels yet it has internal rear brake cable.Steel handlebar and originally 10 speed.
It's great that you've resurrected this bike. With the new parts you put on it and the time you spent, you'll lose a lot of money on this heavy low quality steed. However this is a superb video to show what can be done to save a hunk of junk. I loved it
We love that each bike our channel has its own story! Thanks Jeremy🧡⚙️
Liked this video just going off the title. It didn’t disappoint.
Thanks George we really appreciate the support and the like 🧡⚙️
Wow you should be super proud of that one. Great work guys
Thanks very much!!🧡
Beautiful old bike and a great restoration job!
Thanks very much!🧡
Amazing work on this one. The before and afters at the end of the video do a great job of highlighting the work done!
Very very kind thanks again!🧡⚙️
Got the same bike at home... working on getting it running myself for the spring, but might get it fully serviced this summer, she deserves this!
Enjoy riding and working on it!🧡
Amazing improvement before & after!
Thank you!🧡
I like your channel alot. I hope to eventually start doing the same sort of activity as a hobby and this is a great inspiration. Very well made videos straight to the point and cool.
Best of luck! And thank you🧡⚙️
This made me feel so nice. I don’t know why but I appreciate it
That’s great to hear! Thanks for watching!🧡
Another great and most enjoyable video guys thx. You really outdid yourself on this bike how it turned out,it’s amazing how these beautiful vintage bikes are . So glad you used loose bearings on this one.. As for me I still have my 1979 Raleigh Grand Prix from high school in top shape. Cheers 🇨🇦
Awesome we love a Raleigh as you know!🧡
Love this. Looks superb and so good to see an old bike restored.
Thanks again Ian!
Very satisfying!
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Really love this so much more than the modern bicycle, where everything is replaced.
I know the repair is much more than the value of the bike, but that doesn't matter at all.
And I think you sneaky also still love this kind of bikes to work on.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
We do love them! They’re super rewarding🧡🇳🇱
Thanks for the vid, came precisely at the right moment. Love the channel and the detailed work and narration. Learned a lot from you and got the confidence to start working on my old Peugeot now!
Best of luck George!🧡⚙️
Loved this restoration, brilliant job as always. I’m often working on similar era restorations or as resto-mods. I’ll be ordering your greese set soon, need it. Thanks for the content. Also never hear of a “skip” before, go figure…😂
Thanks very much for all the support in that comment, enjoy working on your bikes!🧡⚙️
Great job - meticulous! That bike is every bit as good as brand new.
Thanks very much for the support!🧡
Awesome! Loved the transformation... great work
Thanks very much for the support Andrew!🧡⚙️
I have same exact model, and I love it. Nice to see this one geting life back :)
Enjoy yours!🧡⚙️
Hi Team Bike Speeds 👋. A wonderful and sympathetic transformation to classic Peugeot road bike. A superb result ! Chapeau ! 👏
Thanks a million!🧡
That's an incredible transformation. I've an old 80s Pink Peugeot that I'd love to restore to this level, but my knowledge does not extend to working on the parts from that era. Definitely getting myself an ultrasonic cleaner now though!!
Enjoy all your work! Thanks for the support!🧡
I look forward to all your videos, always learn something every time, keep up the great work!
Thanks very much and we’re glad you keep coming back!🧡
WOW WOW WOW. Just like my bike!! Needs a restomod with new wheels n groupset to make a proper road racer 🙂
Awesome! Thanks for watching 🧡
LOVELY BIKE, must have been a top of the range item in it's day. Internal cabling within the age of cotter pins - WOW. I have no happy memories regarding cotter pins. SO! glad to see them relegated to history. Even when I was very young, they were always muck metal CRAP!!!!! that didn't last long.
Beautiful restoration! I love seeing the classics live another life.
Brilliant Video, Many thanks for sharing… 😁👍
Thanks very much Ben!🧡⚙️
you got the heart on the correct place :)
I had one like that in metallic turquoise, a 10 speed with wafer thin tyres! I also had an elswick roadbike too. ah memories of my youth and I did some serious miles on them to.
It just needed a good ride. You went above and beyond to make this bike sweet! I want it!
Thank you Burt!🧡 I rode it in another video on the channel!🧡
I'll check it out!
@@Bikespeeds
I had one for 10 years.
They where the best.
Especially the original ones made in France.....other one where produced under license elsewhere....so-so.
Glad to see one coming back alive.
🧡⚙️
Amazing before and after.
Thank you Mike!🧡⚙️
LOOKS BRAND NEW WOW
Wow that is an awesome transformation
Thanks again grant we were over the moon with this one!🧡
Around 1977 I got my first new bike (every other bike I had was a hand me down) , it was a 5 speed racer called a chessington elite elan. Nobody seems to have heard of it.
Christmas 1986 when I got one of these. Loved it. I couldn't believe how lucky I was! Great video!
That’s great! Glad you enjoyed the video!🧡⚙️
Old racing bikes were things of beauty. But gear levers on down tubes and dodgy rim brakes I do not miss.
Yes they’re great to look at not so much to ride lol🧡
I do not ever ride a bike, I am not into bikes at all, hell I don't even know if I can still ride a bike, but dude I was mesmerized by this video, so calm, so satisfying so enjoyable ! Loved every seconds of it !
I live in Australi, and don't ride bikes, but I want to buy something from your store to support you for making such great videos. Makes me want to restore a bike
