Epic hike. Incredible views. I love this video. Thanks for taking me along. I especially liked your route off the top. Many years ago, my wife and I were camped at Upper Ouzel Creek. We hiked from there up to Bluebird, Pipit and Isolation Lakes. Black clouds turned hastened our retreat from there. At that time there was a large concrete dam at Bluebird. The rock crusher and a stone cabin were still there. The dam was taken out in 1986. The 1982 failure of the Lawn Lake dam precipitated its removal. They even took out the concrete dam at Snowbank Lake. It was just a 6 feet long wedge between boulders. Your video brought back memories of the Bluebird Lake area. Thank you.
Wow, you aced that one, Nick……as usual. I love that area near Bluebird Lake and now I can see way beyond it with your expert cinematography you capture and then share with so many! Thank you for this beautiful gift!
Incredible! Love seeing all the off trail hikes you do and seeing the lakes past Bluebird Lake. I hope one day to hike past Bluebird and see Lark, Pipit and Isolation lakes too.
Thanks for the detailed footage and commentary on the area. I've never been past Bluebird Lake, hopefully make it up to the area next summer 😃 16:17 Isolation Lake looks amazing!
I agree with why you hike! We go on vacations an hike all over the place, nothing like you do but to us its the beauty an the peace we feel an a little bit of accomplishment that we love!
Thanks for taking me along, I will probably never see that area unless I watched you do the hike! It was beautiful an loved your commentary on the way down!
@@laurenbouchie2394 Thanks Lauren! Its tough to get back there. The easiest way is to hike up to Bluebird first.. we were gonna try to get to Lark Pond and Pipit Lake last year but by the time we did the 6.5 up to Bluebird we were like NOPE! Too tired to start bushwacking around behind it. Thanks for always adding such great comments to read!
Love spending an hour or more on top of a mountain just climbed. The sense of accomplishment coupled with the beautiful scenery is hard to beat. Its a really great place to do lunch, usually have an appetite after climbing a mountain. Looks like you had a really good climb on this one.
@@nicksangetta8874 The more exhausted I am the better it feels, climbed Mammoth 🦣 Mountain in California today just 3,000 ft and 9.5 miles but it was beautiful up there today.
Hi Nick! Hope you dont mind a question posted here. Please rank these 4 hikes easiest to hardest, based on the routes/loops in which you did them. A) Manaha loop, this vid. B) Mt Alice, Lions up and Thunder down loop C) Chiefs Head D) Copeland Mountain
All 4 are pretty tough but I would say easiest to hardest.. Chiefs Head (non technical, just long) Mahana (long with tougher route finding than Chiefs Head) Mt Alice (super long, non technical but coming down the pass is loose) Copeland (last 3300 gain in like 2 miles.. enough said)
It really depends how high you go. Hiking around Lumpy Ridge and temps will probably soar to mid 80s during the day.. but if you're up high at 9500 ft+ its much cooler. Probably low 70s. I seem to always throw a jacket on when Im chillin on a summit.
Just came across your videos a couple of weeks ago while visiting Winter Park (watched your Byers Peak). So helpful and fun to watch! How often do you get to hike and where are you based? We are in Poudre Canyon and hike every Sunday, but most of what we do is fairly close or within an hour.
I am out of Fort Collins and hike 2 times a week, sometimes 3. I just came down the Poudre Canyon today. We hiked Jiffy Pop Peak (Cloudview Peak) in the Never Summers and camped up by Long Draw. Jeez it gets cold up there! Lol
@@nicksangetta8874 haha then you passed my house on the way back down! We are by Hewlett Trailhead, and yes Long Draw gets super chilly. Finally did Emmaline a few weekends ago for the first time, so I watched your video of that afterwards. There are just to many trails and not enough time, but Chasm is now on my list! Been hiking here and there since living up here, but this year I have become fully addicted to the possibilities and beauty all around.
Hey Nick. Maybe a weird question but I like to hear everyone’s answers… what do you like to bring for food on long days like this? And do you eat a big breakfast really early before leaving home or just skip it? Thanks!
I typically dont eat that much. I will eat a bowl of cereal before I leave and take trail mix and some beef sticks. When I go with my mom we always bring some cheesy smiles. If I get really fancy I might bring a roll up with chicken and cheese. But usually I end up pretty hungry at the end!
I bet! It’s funny, some people are the opposite will plan out all their calories. I found your page recently and have been binging though all the local northern colorado stuff. It’s been really inspiring and these videos offer great info! Going to try to push myself this winter so that I’m ready for these kinds of days next summer!
Thank you! It is a Gopro Hero 9. I dont use the typical settings. I got all the options cranked up to high so the picture is as clear as possible. Plus I film in flat mode and then add all the color and contrast later. It takes a long time because I have to custom tune each clip.. but I think the end product looks better than filming in the ultra contrasty auto Gopro color setting.
Thanks Mike! I have them all memorized. I have hiked almost all of them and that has helped me learn them. But I know the feeling of not knowing! Lol. As soon as I go to a new area Im pretty much lost.
" it hurts but pain is temporary, while the glory is eternal." Life in that moment is immortal, and the mindset is addictive. Love it brother. 🤙

thanks again Nick. As i sit in my kitchen,i love the familiarity I feel watching your adventures. That was crazy!
Magnificent views!
You covered a lot of terrain. Great views of the Wild Basin.
Great hike! Like the loop you made. Adding this to my to do list!

Been watching your videos for years and that may be the most scenic summit I’ve ever seen. Stunning views.
Thanks David! With the flowers and everything it was one of the prettiest summits. Soaring peaks all around me!
I did this one solo several years ago. Amazing hike!
Thanks for the detailed footage and commentary on the area. I've never been past Bluebird Lake, hopefully make it up to the area next summer 😃 16:17 Isolation Lake looks amazing!
Good one Nick!
Beautiful scenery and spectacular views! ... Thanks for sharing Nick
Thanks Craig! Im glad I was able to get to get some video to share from back in that area. Its really incredible.

That was a monster! I agree those views and the feeling must be glorious.
Wasn’t expecting the flick off to the snow patch haha
I was just letting the snowfield know it was #1.
That is a LOT more snow than I expected to see as you looked toward the west from summit
I could not believe that snowfield was still behind Bluebird Lake on the way down. Was not expecting that at all.
Epic hike. Pretty darn neat to know you’ve hiked all those named peaks (and have a video to show it)

Its amazing how fast the time goes by when sitting on the summit too! And nothing beats a good snack while sitting on top admiring the beauty.

You videos are looking great on my 4k monitor Nick. Very sharp video, obviously you're not using a GoPro.

Thanks for the video! What is the name of the book you mention?
The book is Rocky Mountain National Park: The Complete Hiking Guide by Lisa Foster.
Fantastic hike! Do you know all these peaks by sight, or are using a map?
I try to memorize them, but once I’m on the trail, they all look alike. Lol
Thanks Mike! I have them all memorized. I have hiked almost all of them and that has helped me learn them. But I know the feeling of not knowing! Lol. As soon as I go to a new area Im pretty much lost.
Should have brought your skis
Sadly my days of skiing are over. Knee cant take it.
