    Sorry in advance about my voice; I appear to have some sort of cold.

      Ok so I want you to comment on a news article I read. It said that an awesome pilot on a commercial airline where the seats were just over 200 USD a pop took the plane on a surprise tour over an active volcano that was erupting in Iceland and the normal tour over the volcano on a small plane costs 700 dollars so he saved them a fortune. Ok, if I was on this flight I would probably have gone into a panic considering that the volcanic smoke can cause engine failure. Did you hear about this, and what is your opinion about it? The article I am looking at now which is one of many is called Cool pilot detours to give a gratis view of a volcano, please tell me your opinion on this.

      Take care of yourself. We depend on you for your wonderfully scientific and educational (but never dull!) content. Better if you take a day off and get some rest. We will still be here!

      Get better soon!

    Would you be able to do another update regarding Shishaldin? Do we know the overall VEI yet or is it too early to tell? Also, is there any data as to how much SO2 managed to get into the stratosphere? Many thanks for all your wonderful work 😁 the kids in my classes love it when I tell them about this stuff.

    Thanks. To those near Mayon, never be stubborn! Typhoon Egay, internationally known as Doksuri, is steadily intensifying. It is quite large, and it seems that it will be quite a rain maker! We really do not want a repeat of deadly lahar events in history such as what happened in 2006 due to Typhoon Durian, which is also known in the Philippines as Reming! Please follow the authorities!
    Get on high ground if it rains!
    As we all know, Huaynaputina is in close proximity to Ubinas.
    Mount Kirishima is the namesake of both the Japanese battleship/battlecruiser Kirishima of the Imperial Japanese Navy and a guided missle destroyer of the same name. The latter serves the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
    Iceland's current eruption seems to have stabilized in earthquake activity and effusion rate. Some interesting things happened to the cone earlier today and yesterday, with hot spots emerging at the base of the cone. The lava flows have taken many different directions recently. Some people are getting very worried about some of the people visiting the eruption site, due to them getting very close to the cone. Part of the cone could still collapse, which is why those people must go far from the cone. Preferably, they should go on high ground.

      It's so extremely windy even in Cebu. So if there are such winds in there, how much more in the Bicol Region! All the more reason why you should be safe and be aware of the dangers

    Thank-you for such clear, concise, & understandable updates. Having no historical context myself, is the current, global volcanic activity for 2023 higher than in years past? Also, could you address the status of Yellowstone National Park? I used to live & work at Mammoth Hot Springs, but that was a lifetime ago, & I had no idea about it being a super volcano. TIA.

    • @angelcosta4383
      @angelcosta4383 Год назад +3

      Normally there are around 30 to 70 erupting volcanoes simultaneously, i doubt it'd be more than 100

    What are the mechanisms that determine the shape size and appearance of a volcanic plume? For example… is it blowing like a jet nozzle or is it carried up by the heat alone, like a campfire?

    • @alfrede.newman6626
      @alfrede.newman6626 Год назад

      Jet nozzle would be closest..

    Wind Signal No 1 is in my location right now. But i think Wind Signal No 1 is in Mayon Volcano. That Typhoon is bringing lahar. Flooding may be in Albay (possible) so i think this typhoon egay may bring lahar.

    I’ve got a question for you. In the attached video, can you explain the phenomena responsible for the ignitions that seems to sparkle, especially in the top flow. Is that gases releasing from the lava?

    Dude ! learn how to pronounce the place names , what you do is almost insulting , it's not hard , google it and listen to the pronunciation , please

    • @xwiick
      @xwiick 11 месяцев назад

      Just cause names aren't hard for you don't mean its easy for everyone, its also not that important to the subject of the video. Sports broadcaster rarely get any name right and that's way worse

    • @jamestaylor6041
      @jamestaylor6041 11 месяцев назад

      @@xwiick Maybe where you come from that's acceptable , but in my country , to mispronounce a family name is an insult to that person , their Whanau , their iwi and their mana , in the past you would die for such and act ignorance and even now day's you still likely get your face smashed in , in New Zealand , call us what you like , to our face if you have the balls , but you barstastise our name because you simply didn't take the time to learn or even politely ask how , you better be bloody good with your hands and feet and hope like hell it ends there and I guarantee in many other cultures , a name is their mana , it is simply laziness which is just as bigger insult . No name is hard if you ask how but with mana , get the point ?
