I use the tone knob on my tele a lot I usually run it 3/4 of the way up so it just takes off that bitey treble and ads some more bark. I also have my neck pickup disconnected from the tone knob so switching between it doesn't get muddy and dark. I love the tones you got dial in the video definitely shows that teles rock.
You put me onto the Moonshine V2 and now my tele is sounding better than ever. That pedal is an absolute blast to play with, so I am for sure gonna keep taking your tone advice my man
Great tips! The J. Rockett .45 Caliber OD pedal gives me that Malcolm Young rhythm sound from just about any good bridge pickup (T-style single coil, P90, humbucker).
Great tip about compression, I haven't think about compression that way! By the way, saying about what amp you use (especially in modelers scenario) it's worth to say about cab used (and mic!). I think cab impact on the tone is underevalued by most of guitarists ;)
Set your pickup height and balance. Start with your tone knob in the middle, adjust your attack and where you are picking the strings and you're good. You don't need pedals or gain to make a tele sound good. Teles do sound good, great actually. The more pedals you add, the more generic your tone gets.
He's trying to show how to make a tele sound generic in the mix I think, with all that 'even frequency' or 'cutting off highs'. So less pedals for special twangy tone, add pedals for generic tone, I think. Now one tele can really rule them all situations.
Hey Joey. I always loved, and still do the playing of Danny Gatton/ Brad Paisley/Albert Lee sound and style. Then you come along mate!. I love your tone and playing style as well. My American SERIES Tele has always sounded crap. Hence, it’s still brand new condition under the bed! I am looking forward to seeing your video very soon. When I have recovered my Tele that is!
I have two tele's, but not traditional. both have P90's, one is brighter with a recycled pallet body and the other a custom with a cedar body, fatter tone. Oh and a tele baritone with traditional pick ups.
Hey Joey, do you have any solo recordings or album I could check out? Your playing is perfectly bad ass! And I’m a Tele player also. Thanks for the tips.
Disappointed, from the headline I was not expecting these sounds! These are all for overdriven distorted Tele sounds. What about clean sounds? I never play anywhere near that level of overdrive. ie Country, rockabilly style. I think it's much harder to tame and fatten up a really bright Tele bridge pickup when played clean. I have a few Teles and one of them is incredibly difficult to dial in. Any tips?
Way to go Joey! I love your playing if someone is thinking about facial expressions then they are not concerned about the music! Your playing style and what you are playing is the important thing. I'm watching your hands and picking up on the great licks! I always learn something in all your videos! I really appreciate what you do! Thanks Joey! 🤘😎
@ I have severe ADHD. I find all the ridiculous face pulling very distracting. I like his playing but I don’t think he needs to put on the weird faces 🤷🏻♂️
Man, there is something magic in your playing. I don't know what it is but you sound so unique.

really for you as well as Joey ? you recommend the moonshine ? Because of the clean blending as well as it's bump-mid/tubescreamer effect ?
I love the piece you play at the beginning.
Great tips! The J. Rockett .45 Caliber OD pedal gives me that Malcolm Young rhythm sound from just about any good bridge pickup (T-style single coil, P90, humbucker).
Thanks Joey. Sounds good. Gonna go try that with my Nashville.
Tele secret weapon.. the metal zone
I'm pretty happy with my Tele tone as is right now. I use an EHX Soul Food. Wouldn't mind trying a compressor though.

You’re correct. It’s a V30 cab with an sm57.

Thanks Joey I’m getting my first Telecaster because of YOU 🎸🎸🎸 Keep On Doin’ that thang
0:20 song name? 🙂
Awesome video have a great weekend joey and also happy first week of December from Canada ❤😊🇨🇦🎸
Hello, guitarist brothers. Maybe someone has come across a video on how to make such a sound on the headrush mx5 processor?
Fit a dimarzio humbucker and 50s wiring then flip the control plate, perfect tele.
This Malcolm Young sound is pretty great though, getting the pickup height in the sweetspot is key before compression etc.
Tele rocks!!! What amp, cab and OD are you using on the FM9?
He literally told you in the video!
I second this request. Sounds great! Would like to try and duplicate!
@@dkl5557 dude, did you even watch the video?

Great tele tone and playing, just curious what your TS settings are in this demo. Recently had my 80’s TS9 repaired and loving it.
I love tele
very cool thx!😊 tips how to get a good sound from bridge pu or middle position would be great too!
Thank you 👍 Pleasure to listen your playing 🌈🎸
nice video, great Tele tone! I want to get a Diezel VH4 now...
I have two tele's, but not traditional. both have P90's, one is brighter with a recycled pallet body and the other a custom with a cedar body, fatter tone. Oh and a tele baritone with traditional pick ups.
Amazing sound!!! Great tips. Thanks
Great advice, thank you! Now to get everything on my Kemper to stop sounding so fizzy…
have fun experimenting!
The sound is great of course, but the damn playing is truly phenomenal and impressive. 👌
Interesting, let me try that with a hotrails one.
Serious question, dialing in any tele...How much did your Tele cost you?
Thanks Joey! A like & subscribe from me, in the first 20 seconds of your intro… 🎸🤘
man, what boost did you use ?
Hey Joey, do you have any solo recordings or album I could check out? Your playing is perfectly bad ass! And I’m a Tele player also. Thanks for the tips.
My band is called Shady Belle. Check it out on Spotify, etc. ;)
@ hey Joey, I just listened to a few tracks. Excellent!
Hi, what kemper profile you use? Thanks!
If Joey Jones offered Kemper Profiles, I would be the first customer. ^^
Usefull video. Thanks
Which compressor do you use in the fractal? before or after the amp?
before.
Sounds amazing, but I'm curious, are you using any plugins? because i see the kemper off :)
Fractal FM9 in this one
@@joeyjooones wow !!
Hey Joey, where in your signal chain do you place your compressor?
Right in front of everything.
Thanks mate. Love your playing!
fu.ck. sounds great! wich tele model is that?
CS 52 Heavy Relic, the newer looking one in the intro is a player series II. So I did with a cheap and an expensive Telly.
@@joeyjooones fantastic!!!
How to make a Tele sound like Not a Tele🤣
I have a bunch of compressors. Just going up to get one out of my cupboard! See what happens.
Go try it! It makes most teles sound much more balanced.
Diezel Rules !!
You’re speaking my language.
Buy a Nobels ODR…done.
step 1/1
plug it in
Adding fudge to my fretboard now. Already sounds sweeter!! Damn, I never thought this would actually work.

That 80s hair metal tone is not the best for a tele you want to listen more to Roy Buchanan
I thought a tele is an idiot proof guitar. Guess its not the case
bro change the intro
I like this guys playing but can’t stand the ridiculous guitar face 🙄
Go ahead and leave, I’m not offended.
