I live in the Ozarks and have seen so many move here to start a homestead. Unless you have a lot of $$, plan to work hard. You’ll do without at times and want to give up, but it’s one step at a time and don’t quit. Keep moving, doing. I’m a 68 yr old widow and living on a fixed income. I’ve NEVER been happier.

So many leave to go back to what they’re more comfortable with. They quit. 🥲

I bought land in the Ozarks in Camden County. I will be moving there shortly, bringing a wall tent to live in while I prepare the foundation for my cabin. It’s a lot of hardship waiting for me but I couldn’t be more determined to make it work.

Eric such a potent message, and not limited to homesteading !! Fear is a tool of the Enemy
and we can overcome through our faith in the Lord. I am a 71 yr old divorced female and I do all the work on my little homestead. I don't know how to do it all but I know when to ask for help too ~ HUGE for this independent girl ! You are an encourager 🙏

    Amen, you said it.
I too injured my back in a semi truck wreck which also left me with 28 Double stitches from my Temple down to my chin, because the trucks windshield caved in onto the side of my face.
I have to claw my way back from homelessness after the death of my husband...and like you I have to learn so much everyday...and there are days when I barely can move BECAUSE of pain. I keep chugging away.
I have braces I use every day to accomplish my goals for that day.
On rainy days and extremely painful days I do very light work like bookwork (checking in with my finances and how to move from where I am now), reading, watching u tubes to learn a skill I need here at my wannabe Farm, and just care for my 5 cats (all spayed and neutered), one Shih tzu and 8 silky hens plus their one rooster.
If it weren't for my animals I wouldn't even get out of bed everyday.
I do a daily Bible study with my sister who still lives in Germany every morning from 6 am to 8 am while drinking my morning coffee. All we do is read one chapter in the Bible.
I read it in English (she wants to learn English at 70 years old) and she reads it to me in German.
Because I still have many questions about what is written in the Bible and sometimes I can understand things better when I hear them in German as well.
And then we talk about what we read. She asks me questions about my understanding of what I read
Yes God will help you accomplish things, but like you said we human beings HAVE to at least do the work we can for ourselves, and God provides the rest.

I enjoy your common sense approach to everything and the Servant Leader mindset exemplified from the teachings in the Sermon on the Mount. We're hoping that I may be able to take advantage of our agencies "soon-to-be" approved remote work policy. This would allow us to move and be closer to our kids and grand-kids. Find some land and start that journey.

I too was in a Horrific auto accident when I was 21. I lost a vertebrae and had to learn how to walk again.
Now that I’m much older I’ve got a LOT of arthritis and at times I have to use my wheelchair to get around.
But on those days when I’m able, I’m always doing something, anything to keep myself busy.
Taking care of our small orchard and large garden isn’t always easy but not only is it beneficial for my mental and physical health to keep moving, but also we reap the rewards of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Some we eat right away and some we freeze dry for when food in the grocery stores are no longer available.

This message hit home for me. I also believe the country is hitting a downfall. Shopping at our local grocery store is basically where the rich people go. Every time I go, I feel like I got those expensive shoes I knew I wasn’t supposed to buy because we need to feed the kids.
So I made my entire front yard to have garden beds. My backyard has fruit trees and birds. (Broilers, turkeys, layer hens)
All my extra veggies I have in the ground will be frozen when ready or until I can collect enough mason jars.
I have a storage room full of 5gallon buckets just in case.
You guys need to get ready. Something is coming and soon America won’t be fat anymore - they will starve.

I worked for 30 years to be in a position to leave working in the city and start homesteading. Although I was always thinking just one more year and then I’d make the jump…
Long story short someone tried to carjack me at gunpoint and he started firing at me and my friend and my son. After the smoke cleared my son was hit 3 times, my friend was shot in the mouth and the guy was dead (he didn’t know that I was armed). That motivated me to go for it and I sold everything to move to the country. It’s been the best decision of my life.
I’m trying to document some of my journey on RUclips for others who may be following behind me and can learn from my failures and successes. So far it’s helped me to heal and I have never felt the presence of God in my life be so close.
To all of you starting out and even the veterans I wish you the very best and I hope that you can see God working through nature as we work with our hands.

I really bust my chops out there, and it's tough in this ridiculous Georgia heat, but I love to cook and making meals from ingredients I've grown myself is incredibly rewarding.
