    Living Off grid over a decade now. It's very empowering to have more control of your life! The local TSC in tiny small town sells propane. Many came to depend on it. Last winter machine pump went out took 3 MONTHS to get new pump installed....the wood stove advice is 2nd to water in terms of preps if you live in area that has true winter.

    I am so glad that you are getting ready and you think you be safe with your family. But the reality is if our grid and government falls. Our own neighbors will be the one attacking us because hunger and sin will guide them to take away what we have. So protect your soul , that is the only thing you can get ready for.

    Never buy anything on credit,,,
    Never rely on anyone or ANYTHING but you're self !!!
    Because of that advice,,, I own everything I have free and clear,,, I have NO debt,,, NO electric problems,, water problems,, OR gas problems !!!
    Wind solar rain harvesting and Bio gas,,,, OH and diesel everything,,, pyrolysis plastic !!!

    I use to think those folks that move to the mountains, have food stored, and have their own power source are just nuts. As I got older and see what’s going on, I now understand why they do it. I now have solar/ battery backup and stored water at my home. It’s good to always be prepared for anything. Don’t get comfortable.

    Correct, congress set aside billions (7.5) to build charging stations for EVs, and so far ZERO have been built.
    I live rural and we go through about 200gal of propane each year for our automatic transfer generator to deal with the outages. This year we added 6*355W panels and 10kw of batter to further layer in backup systems.

    • @CountryLivingExperience
      @CountryLivingExperience  11 месяцев назад

      Yep. That 7.5 will probably be embezzled in some way so that none of the infrastructure ever materializes.
      Awesome that you are adding to your systems!

    Eric, thanks so much for the information... more reasons to prepare for what's happening now...
    We've started to make lists of numbers, account info etc...
    Yesterday we picked up 2 more IBC toats- I found a guy selling them for $95 near us, and TSC and many others are selling them for $595 or higher. Yes these are good quality clean, etc...
    We've been paying off all debit to be able to upgrade the solar, and other systems here, enlarging our garden, building a larger Greenhouse, adding meat rabbits to the mix, etc...
    We added a freeze dryer almost 2 years ago now, and absolutely love it...
    While we did experience the power outtages with the great snowpalipse having -5° temps here for a week wasn't what this house and pipes were designed for... we faired well, as we turned off our water [the water companies pump died, so no water coming in] we had plentynof water for animals, and our needs, and we have 3 composting toilets as well. With our Woodburner we were nice and warm, and even helped our much older neighbors, who didn't have any propane or a way to heat their home, way to cook or the like.
    God impressed upon us several years ago to start prepping for the realities of today!
    We still have a long way to go, however, we take what we see we are lacking during one of these events and more on these areas and keep working towards these needs.
    Again my brother in Christ- thank you for sharing these things.
    Blessings ❤

    We've not had a power outage in 2 years. Nonetheless we got a generator as we are dependent on power for water from our well as well as heat. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

    Great video again! There are so many ways that life can be turned upside down. The more that people can plan for long term sustainability, the better off they would be for the short term interruptions. I see a lot of people become mentally stuck because they think they need to find a final solution right up front. Preserving a years worth of food doesn’t happen in a weekend. But neither does building a back up power solution or creating a second water source. Everything can be scaled to increase you capabilities over time. Prioritizing needs to the essentials first. Start with ensuring medical needs are met. A basic power system to cover short term refrigeration, lights for security, communications, and water transfer and filtration would be early goals.

    • @CountryLivingExperience
      @CountryLivingExperience  11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely correct, everything can be scaled. Some people just get scared at the amount needed and never start. If they understood that you can slowly add over time, the task is not so daunting.

    One nice thing about where I'm at, backup water is the creek just down the road a bit. As a backpacker, treating water to make it safe to drink is par for the course. Now, would I be approaching this aspect of being anti-fragile differently if I lived in Phoenix? Yes I would. But thankfully, one nice thing of my part of the PNW is ample rain feeding reliable year round creeks.

    If we have a major grid-down situation in a major city, it will turn into a crap show very quickly. People who live in apartments and "modern" subdivisions just don't have the capabilities needed to deal with a situation of any magnitude. Apartment dwellers can't have solar, can't have generators, and can't store firewood if they happen to have a fireplace. If they happen to have a south facing balcony, they can have a couple of solar panels and maybe a Bluetti to run some small appliances.
    I have no expectations of having enough solar to continue living like I do today. Any scenario that has the grid down for an extended time is going to get very ugly, very quickly, and I live 20 miles from 300,000 urban dwellers.
    We have enough solar panels to keep our freezers running.
    We have 2 Bluetti power stations. One large and one small.
    We have 2 gasoline generators. One is a Honda inverter. Very light and very quiet. The other is a Multiquip that is larger and heavy. We generally keep 20 gallons of gas.
    We have a fireplace and enough wood split to heat our home for 2 years. It won't keep the entire house toasty, but it does do a good job of heating the main living areas.
    We can run an electric blanket using the Bluettis.
    We have a year-round creek and a 2.5 acre pond on our farm. Water can be boiled, and fish can be eaten. We have 2 12v water pumps to move water into buckets for transport to the house.
    We have about 2 years worth of canned, freeze-dried, and frozen food on hand.
    As you said, you can't run out today and get this prepared. This level of preparedness takes years, unless you have unlimited funds, but you have to start somewhere.

    • @PanelsUpSolar
      @PanelsUpSolar 11 месяцев назад +1

      Though it is connected to the internet, it does not need to be to do its function. In reality it is not even needed for a basic system.

    • @CountryLivingExperience
      @CountryLivingExperience  11 месяцев назад

      The issue comes up with the firmware updates. My Cerbo actually recently stopped reading battery SOC. This caused the inverters to shut down thinking my batteries were too low. I had to do a firmware update with my phone via bluetooth to get it up and running again. There is too much "computer" programming built in nowadays....not just simple electronics.

    Takes money and lots of it to be prepared for all scenarios. Home on it's own land for starters. Further from town the better. Solar panels and batteries are not cheap. Access to water is a must. Wood stove or fireplace is a big plus. An area to grow vegetables, chickens for meat and eggs. Huge investment that most people can't afford. I still paying on a Bluetti solar generator with 6 kilowatts of storage. 4 grand right there. Poof! This ain't counting the windup radios, CB radio, mini solar generators, 4patriots emergency food kits, bug out bags, water distiller, water storage. I am more prepared than most in my town and I know I am not fully prepared let alone self sustaining. Plus I am over 60 years old. 🫤🫡 Hopefully within a year or 2 we can sell our urban house and find a place in the country we can afford. After we get all set up and prepared for the worst, I probably have a heart attack and die. 😂

      The Chinese do work to incorporate a back door into their electronics but they are limited by tech companies’ own red teaming employed to protect brand integrity. Also, frankly, the Chinese work at a strategic level and they don’t need your phone (for example) if they can steal millions of call data records, US tax and personnel records, 23andMe genealogy records, etc. In this instance, the Chinese are into our utility SCADA and overhead communication systems and can turn off regions rather than individuals, which best meets their strategic requirements. That ain’t great for us overall, but it does mean that these small scale energy production systems are actually quite valuable for resiliency even in a global crisis.

    After working for the power company as an electrical engineer for 26 years I have a couple of comments based on my experience. For one thing the "power grid" is never "upgraded". Each utility is continuously upgrading and replacing defective equipment as well as making improvements on their portion of the grid as needed. Also it is not possible to take down the "grid" with a cyber attack. Electrical equipment in the power companies does not function through the internet. Yes I believe we are headed for extended blackouts and perhaps total loss of power because that is part of the agenda that I can not talk about without getting this comment deleted.
