I've been riding my R3 for about a year now, I just hit 8,000km's on the weekend. The most important thing a bike can do in my opinion is be engaging and fun. The R3 does that incredibly well! It's not the fastest bike in a straight line and to be honest I think it would be nice if it did have some more straight line speed, a year after riding I am getting the itch for something with a bit more poke. As you pointed out, where the R3 shines is the corners. This is where I still have so much to learn about riding and the R3 is so far beyond my abilities I'd be lying straight to your face if I said I'll outgrow the R3 any time soon (and IMO so would any other rider that's fairly new to the game). It's such an incredibly capable bike! I won't be selling my R3 to upgrade, I'll simply buy a second bigger bike for the straight line speed because when it comes to riding in the twisties I really feel like the R3 will be up there with the best of them for the fun factor. Don't forget how much fun it is banging through gears and with the R3 you are doing that a lot. Some of the bigger bikes barely get out of second gear before they are doing deathly speeds. Pros: Handling, fuel economy, looks, low maintenance costs Cons: A little more straight line speed would be nice My R3 mods: Fender eliminator, slip on exhaust, R6 throttle tube. Anyway, thats my 2c, I love my R3 :)
@@SM-wo3qb wow! Thank you so much for all this input. Such a good analysis of the r3 I couldn’t agree more about just getting a second bike one day and keeping it as a track weapon or something similar!
I can't believe how much power it makes for a 300 ! ! ! it makes a TON more than my old ninja 250 used to make!!! it sounds almost identical.. looks a lot lighter.. but with over 40hp, wow, that's decent power. I'm sure all that power is way up in the RPM!! can't wait to hear his reaction when he first feels that juice after his break-in service!!! Any day now that could come out I feel. I also think that power is going to be addictive as I feel the force is strong in this one
Bought my first bike at 48 using my car license, an XSR 125, and now at 50 I'm getting my full license and I have a black R3 in my sights as my do it all bike. No, I'm not going to grow out of it, I'm not interested in speed, raced karts for 20 years, had cars for 32 years, I'm cool ty. Why a sport bike then, why not an Eliminator that would be a good progression after the XSR and would match my age. I'm all about efficiency and sportbikes are the most efficient in converting HP to performance. Any other type of bike and would be heavier like a GT or hopelessly un-aerodynamic like a naked, or both like a cruiser and would require a bigger engine to achieve the same results for me, they would either be subpar around town or on the motorway in comparison to the R3. The R7 is fantastic and to my eyes looks much better than the R3 but comes with much more performance than I would personally need and last thing I want to do is get tempted to open up the taps. What the R7 would offer me in return for higher price tag and extra running costs I never intend to use, it would just be for the looks and for clout but more dangerous as well. I understand I'm not your typical bike customer but there you go, there's people like me out there. Seems like every bike journalist has been calling out to Yamaha of late to upgrade the performance of the R3 to match the cometition that's pulling away in ccs and performance on the entry level market. I didn't know human skill had evolved so much in the past decade and noob riders today are more capbale than noob riders from ten years ago and can handle more performance just as safely so they now need a faster first bike. I would hope they leave the R3 as is, it's perfect, but I have an idea how the market works so they may end up having to stay with the times, we'll see.

I started riding last year and my first bike was a 2020 r3, I just upgraded 2 months ago to a 2024 Zx6r. It is so so so much better, the r3 is SO small, the top speed is horrible, and it’s just awkwardly skinny. It is a good bike to start on but a waste of money too since it’ll easily be outgrown or bored within a month of it

hey i have a quick question. i am thinking on buying the R3 but i just dont know if it can handle the highway very well. what's your opinion ? and keep up with the good videos :)
Ninja 500 here. It seems to me after watching your videos that the two are really really similar. I went with ninja 500 over the r3 simply because I liked the more angular styling.
In the EU, you need to be 20 years old to ride bikes with an engine capacity higher than 125cc (15 kW). My bike, which fits within this limit, reaches speeds of 117-130 km/h (72-80 mph), making highways quite challenging haha. While the Yamaha R3 is a good-looking bike, I prefer the Ninja 400. Its bulkier build gives it the appearance of a real sport bike, which I find more appealing.
its not like that in all EU, i am from portugal and here at 18 you can ride a bike till 45 kw if i m not mistaken, but higher than that only at 20 or 21 (not sure either)
Had the R3 and i rode it yesterday after a month of riding the new cbr600rr... jeez... i can't really ride the R3 no more, feels like a toy, small, slow and body position feels like riding a scooter, had nice feelings riding it again tho💔
R3, great beginner bike but it is not more powerful then an Mt03. It is literally the same engine and gear set up. Only diff. Is the riding position and look.
