In an interview Neil Peart was asked which drummers he listens nowadays and he mentioned first "I like what Gavin Harrison is doing with Porcupine Tree, and on his instructional DVDs. His playing and his thinking are interesting, musical, and inspiring". Also on album version the first guitar solo was played by Alex Lifeson from Rush.
Yes, I think I mentioned that Peart info on the reaction somewhere. Somebody told me that after the last reaction. A connection to Rush makes total sense. Thx for info 👍
From Tool and Dream Theater i know the whole catalogue. Tool is Awesome and unique. And I am a big Fan of Dream Theater since their very first Record „when Dream and Day Unite“. I bought it on the Day it came out and fell in love instantly. ❤️🎼 But I don’t know Alter Bridge yet. So there are Reaction possibilities. 😄👍
@@Zwodrey Big fan of them too🤘 Alter Bridge is an awesome metal band with Myles Kennedy on vocals / guitar and Mark Tremontti guitar /vocals. Blackbird is a very beautifull ballad, you could react to. Metalingus is theier most popular song, but they have tons of brillant songs: Fortress, Cry of Achilles...yeah...long list...but I'd really like to see a reaction to Blackbird -studio version to start with🤘❤️
Gavin is such a musical drummer that even when does a lot of fills, it fits so perfectly in the song. And yes, I'm a major Peart fan since I was a small kid. When I discovered Gavin, for me this was the start of a new world. Nice song review!
Welcome to the world of Porcupine Tree, fantastic reaction, look forward seeing you do more from them, great rabbit hole to go down… can also recommend Steven Wilson solo stuff, man is a genius!! Thanks.
Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree, Ed Warby from Ayreon, Kai Hahto from Nightwish.....It's a miracle but they all are number one for me. Can you imagine being born for instance 50 years earlier and having to miss all of this? We are the lucky ones......😊
Amazing man, Gavin Harrison (the drummer) has a very musical way of composing and playing drum parts. I'll recommend you Cheating The Polygraph or Way Out Of Here (Live in Tilburg as well, this DVD has lots of great perfomances). Last year I made 1500km from Buenos Aires to Chile to see them live, it was a life-changing experience. Just subbed!
Gavin Harrison is a drumming god. Porcupine Tree is without doubt the greatest band you’ve never heard of. Stevens vocals, and poignant lyrics, Richards amazing atmospheric keyboards, and Gavins drums🤯, Colin Edwin on Bass, and John Wesley on guitar. Epic tune.
Seen this video many times but definitely had to see your reaction to it. They have a ton of great music. The one I recommend next is another live video of the song, 'Arriving Somewhere but not Here'. I think you'll love that one just as much. *** Steve Wilson and Mikåel did one album together called Storm Corrosion. I think the most popular track from it is 'Drag Ropes' ..in case you're interested.
I haven't gotten into Porcupine Tree to much but everything I've heard so far is amazing. My favorite is still their most popular song, Trains. I recomend the live version of that if you want to hear more from them (and no it's not as long as this one haha).
Awesome reaction Zwodrey - welcome to the genius world of Steven Wilson - strap yourself in! I see a lot of people with a bunch of suggestions already including the live version of Arriving Somewhere But Not Here. For the gentler but no less genius side - try Heart Attack in a Layby. And in case noone else has given you the golden rule yet - if ever you are asked to listen to anything involving Steven Wilson - whether his solo work or with Porcupine Tree - ALWAYS go their LIVE versions. The studio versions are superb, LIVE is simply unbelievable. Enjoy!
Thx for the nice feedback and good advice. Live Versions seems like often the better choice. As long as it’s an official one with good sound quality. 🤘❤️👍
A great song, the first guitar solo was performed by Alex lifeson of rush on the record. I have seen them live twice & Gavin Harrison on drums is top notch. Hatesong live is a stunner.
Thank you for this reaction. Awesome! Definitely the live version of Arriving Somewhere but not Here, from the Chicago show. I recommend the studio version of Trains. Gavin Harrison is the drummer. Neil Peart was a big fan of his. He actually wrote the forward for one Gavin's books. My two favorite Gavin Harrison showcase pieces are Cheating the Polygraph and Way out of Here, both live from Tilburg.
Wow.. you're literally going through my favourite music, I love your reactions. Have you seen Leprous yet? if not, I'd recommend Castaway Angels, and after that, The Sky Is Red.
@@Zwodrey I have been following your reactions, really enjoying :) most of my favourites! I thought of suggesting Leprous as well, but I would suggest heavier ones, like Acquired Taste, Rewind, Forced Entry or The Flood - my taste tends to be on the heavier side, even though The Sky is Red is very trippy, amazing as well. Thanks for sharing!
This is amazing. I didn't think to suggest you Porcupine Tree, but naturally, from my Opeth background I'm very much into Porcupine Tree as well. Fun fact, Steven Wilson always plays bare feet. I've never seen you so quiet during a reaction video. I think that's a good sign. If you liked this, you might have a similar journey as you had with Opeth. Suggestions: Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here Porcupine Tree - Trains Or if you're really feeling it, you could do a listen of the entire Fear of A Blank Planet album, like you did with Blackwater Park.
Yes, it was so magical and hypnotic that I really forgot to talk from time to time. Wonderful live performance. I definitely do the other two songs as well. 🤘❤️👍
Steven Wilson´s solo work is also brilliant. Suggest "Drive home" with one of the best guitar solos ever made and "Routine". The animated music videos are great.
Try Hate Song (Live) for more amazing drumming by Gavin Harrison. Funny you should mention Neil Peart, as he considered Gavin the best drummer of his generation! 👍
Hatesong is already on my List. 👍 And if Neil Peart, which was the GOAT of Drumming, told that Gavin is the Best of his Generation, we should take this serious. 😁👍
Special and Magical!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!
Absolutely 🤘❤️👍

How many active proffesional drummers are currently in the World? Gavin is absolutely one in a million of them
He is indeed a very special one 🤘❤️👍
Watch their live song called The Hate Song. The drummer is the focal again..even more intense! Gavin Harrison is a beast!
Yes, hatesong was amazing. I did a reaction already! 🤘❤️👍
Subscribed for more Porcupine Tree. ALWAYS live performances.
If there is one, I always prefer it live, yes. Thx for Sub! Welcome to the Community 🤘❤️👍
