Nearly a decade later and it's still a banger
One of the most underrated bands of all time
this band will always have a place in my heart because they're the first metal band i'd ever seen live and practically what sparked my interest in metal
Dalton Bennett YES YES YES!!!!!!!! Dude exactly this. Becoming the Archetype was hugely influential in my love of modern metal. To me, modern metal is where it's at (post-2000). When I listen to "metal" from the 90s, like early Slipknot and Korn, or even Living Sacrifice or Zao, something is missing. It wasn't until the likes of Demon Hunter, Becoming the Archetype, and The Showdown (along with others like As I Lay Dying), the early 2000s Christian Metal Renaissance, that I really got pulled in. They planted the seeds. And they remain among my top 3 favorite bands. I absolutely ADORED "I Am" and I consider it to be a better album than Celestial Completion. Just a personal preference, I thought these vocals were a great substitute for Jason Wisdom and I think he chose well in picking his successor. He was right that Chris McCane would do a fantastic job. I hope against all hope they get a new album out soon. Seth Hecox said some Becoming the Archetype stuff is currently peculating behind the scenes as of May/June 2015 but he said it's incredibly "early"... so I hope they get the ball rolling!
D. Bennz I was already a metal head, but this was also the first band I saw live
They came back last year 🙃
Ahh, it's good to hear that bands like this still sound good.
agreed
Music with faith like this speaks to me, where as average lovey dovey Christian music doesn't work for me! Rock on for the Lord dudes!
This song has done nothing but grow on me since I first heard it. If the rest of the album turns out like this... The attributes of God is an excellent new territory for a metal band to explore. Folks need to understand just how profound and eerily awesome the statement "I Am" is. I wouldn't leave the task to anyone but BTA.
I LOVE the lyrical concept! And the music! And the sound! And the riffs! And the arrangement! Just everything, you guys rock!
I don't care if this isnt the same band anymore, this new sound I LIKE!
This is awesome. Never heard of this band before, but i am glad I did now.
Not to mention this song is absolutely beastly in concert....
As I understand it, Seth has been in BTA since their first album, but not since the band was formed. It's why I'll still be listening to BTA, because regardless of who else is in the band, Seth has continued to write awesome music. That has been my favorite aspect of BTA. Their sound is so unique and doesn't seem to follow a certain formula. And I'm sure the new band members have contributed to the great compositions as well.
Man I love these guitar-parts, especially the solo-ing
9 years later I'm still listening to this great album
I love Terminate Damnation, The Physics of Fire, Dichotomy, and Celestial Completion. And I love this song too!
It's been so long since I've listened to BTA. Tho this song always pops on my mind when I think of bangers. 🔥
coolest guitar riff ever made legit
And for the glory of his name then shout the name hossana in the highest for he will be with you what ever might happened do it for him and he will do it for you God speed metal is speed 🙏
Also apparently no one bothered to notice that they've undergone a huge change in their lineup since the last album. To have such a drastic change of talent, and still produce something this close to BTA's original style... I'm impressed
I first became a fan of their first album and it's crazy to hear how much they're changing. I was beginning to lose interest but this album is definitely catching my attention.
Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter are two of my other favorites, although I've recently discovered an awesome band called Hope for the Dying. And, believe it or not, the latest Impending Doom album is actually pretty good. It kinda depends on your taste.
It was an honor sharing the stage with you guys! It was the first time that venue was able to hear our single "The Darkest Embrace" live!
Can't wait for the new album! The new additions to the band sound killer! You guys deserve a lot more recognition and attention than you already get! Definitely voted for you guys regarding Warped Tour next year! You guys deserve it! Horns up!!
One that you might be interested in checking out is a group called Skies Over Bethany. They've got some absolutely incredible music. Check out "The Sword," "Eighteen," "Panopticon," "Inculcation," and "Severance." Those are all really good songs of theirs.
Saw these guys earlier. Sickest show I've ever been to.
Definitely gonna learn this and cover this on drums!
Reminiscing while awaiting the new single dropping tomorrow
I don't know what happened, but I love this new sound.
brutal.
It's supposed to sound like that. It's a diminished 2nd which is one fret apart from the root note to give it that sound. I like it. I think it fits perfectly with the song title.
whoever the vocalist hes not a bad replacement for jason wisdom
So stoked to hear the rest of the album!
That's awesome!!!!That's like Becoming The Archetype and With Blood Comes Cleansing put together
Bring this ish back
August Burns Red, Haste the Day, Impending Doom, War of Ages, For Today, Demon Hunter, Flatfoot 56, Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, Inhale Exhale, Life in Your Way, Sleeping Giant, The Showdown, and Underoath. Those are just from my iTunes. But these are just various forms of metal, not specifically Cathedral Metal as I've heard BTA called.
also this is the first awesome lyric video I've seen haha. Great 3d animation, camera angles and titles
saw them live last year... they made me a fan.
The fact that it's based on a single riff also gives it unity, though this track does not sounds monotonous, and remains interesting throughout the entire song. Besides, it doesn't have to be death metal in any way, this band has their own artistic freedom. Each new bandmember has a new mindset, and enriches the band with new different creative thinking. Although, I do like the drums less than before.
I just got here from listen to The Acacia Strain's 'Victims Of The Cave'. And wow....I never expected to find such musical similarity between such polar bands. XD
finally, this band found their sound!! this album is an amazing stuff, i like it mroe than everything else they did and i never lost hope for them!! tnx bta for making such a great album!!!!keep on!!!
As soon as I found out Jason, Sean, Jon and Duck weren't in the band anymore, I was almost gonna write BTA off. New line-up = new sound. I am pleasantly surprised with this tune, so I'm definitely buying this album. Solid State never fails to deliver.
Cant wait to get it, still waiting here in RSA
love the new vocals
one of the sickest songs ever. fuck it gets me amped
This is beyond awesome.
Love this band, this band is getting more epic every second.
actually they are both drew by the same artist. Hence, the album arts share the same style of coloring and stuff. I forgot the name of the artist though, but you can simply just google to find out. :)
Definitely not the same Becoming the Archetype of years past. Not complaining, some growth and change is good. Love the new stuff and the old. Awesome all around.
Stoked for the album!
Their last album was totally different, a definite change. Now they are going back to the old stuff for the new album.
man the guitarist is SICK!!!!
That's because it's the same artist. Same guy who has always done all of Becoming The Archetype and Demon Hunter's album covers. He also did the cover for With Roots Above for TDWP.
you got that right!!!
if i'm not wrong, the album name refers to Theocracy mindblowing "I AM" song from as the world bleeds, and the cover refers to TDWP dead throne, two great bands, that are, just like becoming the archetype, christian metal bands. but this is just a hypothesis.anyway, i'm surprised by the change, but it's not bad at all
Just noticed that 1:54 to 2:09 is from a Living Sacrifice song cant remember name but it's from their Conceived in Fire album.
I think this song sounds pretty grrreat!
With parts of the song reminding me of After The Burial & Living Sacrifice.
Gotta admit, my bud was right...these guys will blow your friggin ears off if u give them a chance
sickest music vid ever!!!! totally original and hardcore!!
that solo is amazing
this is so amazing
huh I did not know that TDWP was the first band to put a skull on their album cover. wow my mind is officially blown
So much more hardcore than their past stuff. Loving every second of it
that cover kind of reminds of of dead throne
becoming the archetype FTW!
I've loved becoming the archetype when i was in highschool and i still love them through college and i will still love them later on.. i want a beard like that :C
I can't wait for this to come out on by birthday :D
Not necessarily. At best, you would have an exception rather than a rule. One band going down due to a line up change has no veto power over other bands that have line up changes.
Besides, I may have conceded too much there. SS didn't really go down. Dark Matter Dimensions was intentionally pushed out with little preparation when they should have waited, hence why many disliked it. The Unseen Empire, however, was very well made. They brought back the feel of the old SS with that album.
That's why they're good now.
Just wish this band would get back together
I love this \m/
Sicknesssss
Christia Metal: the only metal I ever listen to! :D thumbs up for BTA!!! :D
Yeah, It's been their mascot for years
On that topic, I was thinking The Dead Throne was a different album. There's definitely major similarity, particularly the manner in which the image was created. Paint, I assume, and it appears to be done in the same style. Flipped skull with beard and different color? Yeah, I see it.
it's like a mixture of Like moths to flames and the acacia strain.
D: Their older stuff was amazing!
But I, also, am stoked for this album.
You sure told him!
wow this was uploaded today and it already has around 10.000 views?! O.o
dope
I must say I wasn't a fan of some of their older stuff, but this sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear the rest!
Beast.
this is good, its how the roar, the heavy and the structure is at its finest i usually dont like when sound as singers can't take a shit but this is how i like the warcry !
Do you hear those delicious riffs? Do you not feel those delectable drum beats?
dayum
My opinion. This could be Seth's side project, and Jason could have stayed in BTA, like two differents bands. I can't fall in love with the new Solamors, like i've did before with BTA.
makes enough sense
They may be alienating old fans with this new sound, but they will definitely use it to attract new fans (i.e. me!).
Does nobody remember how much of a breakdown festival Terminate Damnation was? Most of the songs on that album had some kind of chug section. YES, this is different, but it's not a total departure. I'm actually surprised at how similar Chris sounds to Jason, considering how unique Jason's voice was. And while Jon is my favourite BTA guitarist, Daniel suits them 10 times better than Alex ever did. He's also the first lead guitarist to be with BTA for more than one album in a row!
They got a new vocalist and bassist.
I was gonna say, this just sounds like some of their older stuff, minus a BIT of their iconic instrumental/orchestral backing. Even then, there's still some of that, but it's far less prominent on this track than on past records.
Also, my #1 favorite quality of BTA is still very much present, and that's the lyrics. They've always been awesome at taking decently brutal perspectives on traditional religious concepts and stories. I haven't seen a single person comment on the lyrics yet.
I have become the Archetype of become the Archetype.😎
This shit goes HAM
this is solid state records.
it sure is
Underrated
Tripwire please make this song as KF2 Soundtrack please.....?
TWI needs to add more music. Also knowing that there are too many zYnthetic songs that arent as good as they were in KF1. Living Sacrifice has too many songs in the game even tho BTA deserves more. And the game fucking needs Containment Breach by zYnthetic
So i can now recommend new worship to my pastor?
Using their talents FOR GOD ALMIGHTY PRAISE GOD FOREVER!!!!!!!
You'd think that when a band grows up, bringing natural changes to their sound, their fans would be at least open to the change, if not be led to some growth themselves....
NOPE. Gotta hold on to those old sounds and never let go. Change is your enemy, right?
I really wish i could say that i liked BTA's new sound, but it just isn't the same with Jason Wisdom. His voice was amazing.
This album sounds a lot more raw, while the older songs sound more gothic. Love both kinds
Isn't Seth Hecox one of the remaining original members?
sooo sick!!!!
