I just visited here myself... it was every bit as haunting and impressive and intimidating as this video! Apparently there is literally no land between those shores and Antarctica all the way south, so it gets the full force of uninterrupted currents... incredible and terrifying in equal measure.
Each of that group must be experiencing the true natural meaning of the debased modern word " awesome". Those magnificent waves have pounded there for millions of years & will continue to pound ashore after we are gone.
Was there many years ago, August when weather was nice. I biked through the highlands and met people from all over. Beautiful country. And I learned why being banished as in the sagas was such a horrible punishment. May as well be on Mars! The coasts were beautiful, lots of puffins. I did not go to that beach but a bus I was on stopped there to let people on and off. Went to see where Grettir did this or that but so much more. The people were very awesome too. Wish I would have had more time to take advice and go to horse shows, wrestling matches, local spa. Gulfloss was incredible and crawled to the edge to take it in. Many years ago, hope it hadn’t changed much.
Yes, thank you for specifying that. We were aware of that before visiting and thus tried to limit the risk taking. My friend told me a few people have died before (asian woman?) so it definitely calmed us down before we took the video.
SoCal boy here spent a lot of my youth surfing, bodysurfing at the Wedge. Mode of transportation getting there was usually the same but not always when leaving. I've never felt more alive and rejuvenated on really big days.

Sea??? Nahh, Gravity

That’s for sure
For sure......
The entire beach goes for miles, and it is beautiful, cold and windy all the time. A must see.
I love watching videos of this Beach
The way the water sinks into the sand when the sea goes back in
Mesmerizing to Watch this Spectacle.
Amazing
The cinematography at this beach in the series Vikings, when Floki finds Iceland, is amazing.
Season 5? I stopped watching after ragnar was avenged

Yup, I too cycled through Iceland and noticed how far is one place from another. Being banished was a death sentence.
1:02 This is where the pirate ship from the movie Goonies was seen?
블랙 비치가 정말 압권 입니다. 바다의 파도가 사라지면 보이는 하얀색 거품이 마치 새 생명이 잉태하는것 같아요!
We love it too. We was there Nov 2021. Hope we can travel again after corona. So much to see in the world. Have fun
Be careful those waves can be really dangerous. In 2017 a German family got dragged out by a sneaker wave. The mother died.

Being a guy from Tennessee, I'm thinking beautiful scenery and scary waves. Still I'd like to visit.

I've been there. The most frightening waves and surf I've ever seen.
Even worse than Ballybunion
Ho perso un mio caro amico in questa spiaggia...

We body surf shorebreak bigger with glee here, "The Wedge" Not as cold or stormy though. Gorgeous beach you have.

In sub zero temperatures with an under tow and riptides no doubt. People who get dragged out to sea here don't come back.
The wedge can get more size but these win on brutality
Yeah your not coming back if you go past the first breaking wave here
why is final boss music playing?
Wow the weirdest shorebreak I’ve ever seen
Not really huge, just stormy shorebreak.
It's like a Wonderland
I relay want to vist that 😍
What a eerie beach!!
That's where Saruman takes the fam on holiday
If all that energy could only be harvested and stored it would be the solution to a lot of our problems.
