Great review!! I recently got one after seeing all the buzz online and I have not been disappointed. I have a working GBA SP, and Analogue Pocket, and I also recently got an Anbernic RG Cube. Too many devices, I know..... But somehow the RG35XXSP is the one I keep picking up. It's just so pocketable, and the clamsheel is very satisfying. I know some (like yourself) found the buttons too clicky, but I find that I like them and got used to them quickly. I recently put the muOS custom firmware on it, they just did a major update to that. With the muOS it's pretty much perfect. I understand it has issues with HDMI and Bluetooth, but so far I have not used those on this device. All I am really using is RetroArch and muOS is great for that. I haven't messed around with things like portmaster and pico8 yet, but they look interesting so I might. I'm wrestling with retroarch's configurations a bit, but there's so many online resources to learn about that. Anyway, I love this device, and I really enjoyed your review!
I’d love to get one just for nostalgic reasons. But honestly my steam deck is op. And I really don’t need it. Maybe I’ll ask for one on my bday or something. ✌🏽
Ngl, I'm still kinda salty about Retroid's hinge design. Every time I open my Flip and feel the screen smack against my fingers, I continue wondering why they didn't just copy Nintendo's homework.
I feel ya. Even if it were a software emulation solution (like the Epilogue Operator), a physical cart slot would be fantastic in a cheap handheld like the XXSP.
@varlunmulland3992 Your best bet right would be an FPGA handheld like the Analogue Pocket. It's expensive but well worth it for folks with large physical game collections.

I have one but haven't played on it more than 5 mins. Good review, saves me time. Now to find a better ui, I believe ones out now.
Great review!! I really appreciated your level of nuance here :)

I've got a legion go and I just bought one of these lol I'm excited
I'm definitely interested in one since the games in your vid look fun
Anbernic knocked it out of the park. Did what other handheld manufacturers couldn't. cough Retroid cough

So close to perfect if it ONLY had the GBA cartridge slot too... Hardware clones help keep the physical game market alive...

@@GameXData I have been looking for exactly this and haven't had any luck. Are there any handhelds that keep the physical slot?

@@GameXData That's sold out
@varlunmulland3992 Either waiting for new stock or trying the secondhand market are going to be your best bet then
Yeah the rg35xxh also has joycons for very cheap; around £35 before tax on aliexpress
Great until the battery heatsink explodes or the CPU burns.
It's a added feature meaning to make the most out of the time that's left.
