Ashfur: BRUTUS (storyboards) MAJOR 'THE BROKEN CODE' SPOILERS

Before anything else here are the references for Brambleclaw/star and Ashfur that I think are important for the video!

I wrote it in the video but I think for comprehension's sake it's important to note that 2:17 and forward use Ashfur's ghost design (on the left of his sheet) and Bramblestar's older design (on the left of his sheet).
Anyways, whew! I'm so glad these storyboards are done! This has been a huge project for me that I've been keeping relatively under wraps and I'm glad I can finally show off what I've been working on. The Broken Code arch and Ashfur's return as a villain was what got me seriously back into Warriors and I'm so excited to show off all my work dedicated to it. As a teenager, the book and fandom's apologism for Ashfur played a massive part in making me cynical towards Warriors, so seeing Ashfur's story be fixed and him coming back as such an intimidating villain is extremely exciting for me.
These storyboards are mostly meant for my eyes so I can understand what's going on when I animate over them, and because of that I'm sorry if a few things are unclear. I'm a bit worn out right now, but I might come back and clarify some stuff in the description after a bit. In the meantime, if anyone has questions about what's going on as I use a lot of figurative imagery that I don't think is super clear in the sketches, feel free to drop a comment and I'll try to answer!
This project is going on the back burner for a second as I finish up an AMV that's significantly less complex and I'm going to try to finish up without posting any process work beforehand, so look out for that! In the meantime, follow me on twitter where I'll be posting works in progress and tons of art!

Hey it’s getting to the point where it’s hard for me to keep up with and individually reply to all the kind comments on here but I wanted to say thank you SO much for the support you have no idea how motivating this is! Doing warriors videos has always been a passion of mind that I keep coming back to no matter my age and seeing positive reception to my art like this makes me extremely optimistic and I’m so thankful to everyone who has subscribed and taken the time to comment. Hooooooly shit??? This is such a poweful song and interpretation of Ashfur, this hits HARD, even as a storyboard this is unbelievably good. I hope you finish it one day, this is one of the best concepts I've ever seen.

I’m really happy other people are responding well to this concept, it makes me feel really proud and motivated ^_^ when I was in the warriors fandom as a teen I got really bored and frustrated with the collective interpretation of ashfur so when I found out about his return and new arch in broken code last year it completely reenergized my love for warriors! Thank you so much for your kind words, they really motivate me to keep working hard
@@blynxee Oh absolutely!! I think this is absolutely fantastic, the various styles that come through, the character designs are so snappy and distinctive even without color, and the SONG choice, oh my gosh...every word hits right in the chest. The pacing and punches of the scene shifts are so good, even without polish I'm floored by how excellent this is.
I'm so happy to hear that you're enjoying the series again, too!! I haven't read any of the books past the the first few where Dovewing/Ivypool came in, many years ago...warriors was my lifeblood at the time and it's really fun seeing how much it's changed. The new books seem really wacky but I'm astounded by the new content that folks are putting out and the development of old characters, it's exciting!!!
I hope you continue to enjoy the Modern warriors books and get back to this someday, it's really great to see folks having so much fun!! :D
the part where he posses Bramblestar gave me chills this is awesome

It never clicked to me till right now, watching the opening that Brambleclaw is the son of the cat who murdered Ashfur’s mouther. That, would make a lot of sense if that’s why Ashfur has such animosity/mixed feelings towards Bramble like damn. And the “I want to be you” line hit even HARDER with that transition!! These boards are amazing!

The "blue flash" of ashbramble's eyes toward the end sounds v cool! several times your expressions on Ash's face were so unhinged/unnerving it was SO well done!! I'm glad yt put you in my recommended!
Thank you!!!! I’m really happy that the algorithm is recommending this to people haha. I loved playing with ashfur’s expressions and the diversity of how I could represent his emotional arch through body language and visuals and I’m really glad people are responding well to that
I absolutely love this! Especially the diversity in face shapes in background characters (and main characters as well), it's a small detail but it won't go unseen

This is such a cool idea!! I really like that you show Ash and Brambles relationship prior to the Squirrel jealousy situation, and that bit with Ash helping Hawk trap Firestar to help Bramble become leader (to go with the lyrics) is really clever! I’m really excited to see this fully completed, I have a feeling it’s gonna be amazing
This is easily one of my favorite Warriors videos tbh, even just in WIP form!!!! Your sense of direction and composition and flow is so good. The storytelling is great and I love how you depict Ashfur's characters and mannerisms. His relationship with Bramblestar isn't usually the focus in Ashfur content so this is a breath of fresh air!!! I'm excited to see how it progresses. I keep coming back to rewatch it

I am stunned, this is gorgeous, I just woke up from a weird dream where Ashfur trapped Brambleclaw and killed him and then himself and then took over Brambleclaw's body, all this while singing Brutus to him and it was pretty creepy actually. And then I tell this to a friend and they go "omg like the animatic" but I never saw this in my life so they linked me and I love it to bits!!!! It's super good!!! And weirdly similar to my dream at times ahhahah, much better than it though, thank you for making it reality and keep up with the good work!
