Wormsong has to be one of the most infectious tunes in gaming. Once it's in your head you can't shift it.

Funny story. When I was a kid I would often listen and sing along to this song. Well, the chorus maybe. But not being a native speaker, my English wasn't very good back then, and I could only catch glimpses of what they were saying.
So because of that, I had this strange idea that this song was singing about the casualties of the war, with the deceased worms singing the chorus.

Yeah, it gave that impression. It made me think of angelic worms singing in heaven.

This chorus has been stuck in my head since I was about 5 years old.

The "Play Worms Music Theme" feature was broken in the US release of the game, and played the wrong song. There was a mistake made when mastering the CD, one audio track was accidentally written twice, throwing off all the track numbers afterwards. Fortunately, I was able to find the song by using a CD player program. It's too bad that a lot of US players could have missed out on hearing this song because of the CD mastering mistake.

I'm biased towards the Worms Armageddon remix since it's first Worms I actually played but it's nice hearing the original inspiration for the track!

That explains about the box art of the game between the 2 worms
Of course I can tell that the blue bandana worm is Boggy B. And the Helmet one is Spadge.
Though I could be wrong but I think I can see where this is going.

    all too real
Boggy B got blown up by a landmine but stood up, stuck a single stick of dynamite up the enemy's squad's arse and somehow won the war
It's so jubilant, almost like a dream
what a great song, the Wormsong

Who was the Person who Voiced the worms?

    • @bjornlynneofficial
      @bjornlynneofficial  3 года назад +20

The spoken words in this song was voiced by David Bland at the Team17 office. The high-pitched voices singing on the chorus is me, Bjorn Lynne. I slowed down the music and sang with my normal voice on top of the slowed-down and therefore pitched-down music. Then I sped up the recorded vocals by the same amount and then put the pitched-up voices over the music.

Heh, never knew this was part of an official soundtrack. It was the heyday of mp3 swapping, and somehow this landed on my Iomega ZIP drive - remember those? Well, I simply assumed it was a fan song or something. Just found out it wasn't, apparently. :')

@@bjornlynneofficial Thanks for the reply! If I google his name he seems to show up in the credits on a few websites for that, so that makes sense (though they also credit you for the worm voices in the chorus!).
Couple more questions from a friend who produces updates for Worms Armageddon in his own free time, if you remember and have the chance to answer:
      1) How did you make the "Rocket Power Up" and "Throw Power Up" sound effects for Worms 2 (the ones that play as you're holding the space bar to fire a weapon)? Or were those not you? If you have the original assets behind these particular sound effects he would be very interested in them for future functionality in the game.
      2) In Worms Armageddon, did you compose all the melodies for the background music yourself or did some come from stock sources? My friend found something different with the Sitar music from WA's "ingame-08-desert" in the background and he's wondering whether they ripped it off, or if it was based on a common stock source.

    • @Thornskade

@@Muzer0 Much of the background noise and some of the melodies in the Armageddon soundtrack are stock. I don't know the original sources but I've heard them in many other games released in the mid to late '90s such as Castlevania and Gex. The sitar music from the desert theme I've heard in various other publications, including a Vsauce video. Wish I knew which one it was but that was the first time I heard it outside of Worms
