- Cheetah with warthog kill, elephants crossing river, Grévy’s zebras in action and mating Somali ostriches were only some of the highlights of our safari in Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Lion, cheetah, bat-eared fox and black-backed jackal were the main predators we encountered in the parks. Impala, Beisa oryx, Grant’s gazelle, the amazing gerenuk giraffe gazelle and the tiny dik-dik are the antelopes of the savanna. We found all special northern five species in Samburu and Buffalo Springs: reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Grévy’s zebra, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. Also birding was excellent and the variety of dry savanna bird species was stunning.
Welcome to our birding and wildlife safari to Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs National Reserve in Kenya in December 2020. We stayed four nights at the wonderful Elephant Bedroom Camp. We would like to thank our travel agency DreamtimeTravel and the local tour operator Kenya Experience for this unforgettable Safari.
For animal identification, please refer to the video subtitle or to the species list below.
With best regards,
Sandra and Markus

Ah happy memories and encounters from many years ago ...seeing cheetah oryx...gerenuk
Have you been to Meru....similar wildlife and ecosystem
I have " adopted" and give money to lion conservation there....and its history with George Adamson...and Elsa the lionness of Born Free fame?
Thank you very much! Great to hear that you have such good memories about the park. We have been to Meru and Elsa's Kopje in 2018 and have seen all the special northern five species there. It was absolutely amazing: ruclips.net/video/45Rc-INX3eo/видео.html

Amazing 🤩🇰🇪💕🇰🇪💕👍🏾😁
Beautiful 🎉🎉🎉 million thanks

Astonishingly beautiful! I was simply mesmerised by the footage.
Could I ask what camera gear you used and how did you stabilise the footage so well?
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, appreciate it very much! So glad you like the video. We show our entire camera equipment in full detail here: ruclips.net/video/OFeReg5DJgk/видео.html (all items are listed in the video description and in the video subtitle). We just added two GoPro Hero 7 Black to the list since the "Camera Bag" video was made. Stabilizing (where necessary) was done in our video editing software Magix Vegas Pro 18 or DaVinci Resolve. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus

Euch weiterhin viel Erfolg !
Great video! Question: was there any difference between Buffalo and Samburu? In terms of wildlife?
I'm going there next February, but now the parks charge seperate entrance fees, so we have to decide between the 2.
Thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much! So glad you enjoy watching our videos. As the two parks are next to each other and the animals can roam around freely there is not much of a difference between the two. As you saw in the video the elephants were just crossing the river mutliple times, the zebras were on the Samburu side, so was the cheetah and the lions at the time of our visit, the big group of oryx was on the Buffalo springs side, the gerenuk on both sides and so on. So as always with wildlife, nothing is guaranteed. Our accomodation was on the Samburu side we spent most of the time there and we just made a day trip over to Buffalo springs. Hopefully you will have spectacular sightings regardless of your choice. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
Thank you for your elleborate response Markus. Much appreciated!
Them ostriches 🤣🤣🤣
awesome video

@@SandraMarkusTrachsel ur welcome.keep it up
Da hört man ja überhaupt keine Tiere. Warum nicht Markus? ? ?
Graet video!!
P.s: what do you think about The olympus 150-400 f4.5?
Dear Lorenzo, thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much! So glad you like the video. Yes, the 150-400 f4.5! Definitely would love to have it, but on the other hand, it is extremely expensive and the size is huge (compare to the other lenses). Just imagine what else you can buy for the $7500. I am currently more likely to buy the 100-400 f5-6.3, but nothing is decided yet. I am a bit worried if you can actually still order the 150-400 or if they are already sold out? Spending $7500 without being able to see and hold the lens at any dealership is also a bit a concerne. So as you see, I am completely undecided about it. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
