One question: what is the strength test in Lb rate on those snaps you using? Specially the #3 I was testing out one of those and started to bend at 15 Lb test it was the sides #3 same brand
@@DWSOutdoors okay, thank you for replying Really appreciate Starting watching your videos and I like them Specially the one when you making a leader it helps us understand more about the good sport
Up until this year I've mostly fished for cats or just threw a line out . I'm just now getting into different species fishing..learning different gear, techniques and stuff like that. Thsts psrt of why I like this channel so much
Improved clinch knot aka improved trillen knot, either way, I use it on all my light line, and I run 2 foot leaders, I've had giant pike suck down 8" jerk baits and swimbaits and 18" of leader, there be monsters in them there waters, PB is 35 lbs so far, still trying to break that state record (Montana USA)
I go for bass mostly but get bitten off by alot by big pike. Mid 30 inches. So you think 60 lb flourocarbon would be good for a hard hookset and tight drag with pike? I Use wire but they dont bite that at all barely, neither do bass.
@@DWSOutdoors Awesome, appreciate that ! The pike only hit when I'm going for bass with light flouro or braid. Once I toss my baitcaster with 40 lb braid and a wire leader, I literally can't get anything to hit lol.
If you ever want to stay light but still use a wire leader you could learn how to crimp your own leader with 7 Strand like this 👇🏻 and you'll get better action out of your lures! amzn.to/4eEfioz
1 foot long is my favorite length to use for leaders.

The fishing is really nice you do and your channel is interesting! that's why I subscribed to you now. see you next video of you my friend. Until then👍
60-80lb Fluorocarbon is pretty tough stuff! If you ran into some crazy big northern like a 40+ or a 50in+ musky you might get a bite off but for the most part I have not been broke off going as low as 60lb Floro!
@@DWSOutdoors cause 50 dollars is approximately my yearly budget on lures right now. If I take away my live bait budget then maybe I'd be ok. I'm still using the same topwater lure I used in 1993! Still catches fish too. And with that lure all I've ever used is 8 lb blue stren. Pulls right out of them lily pads!
I’m getting 40 pound flourcarbon I just need some thing to use for my more expensive lures as a leder so a pike doesn’t instantly get it

Great tips!!..I've never tried targeting pike but its definitely an option.
There are plenty of them around lol

If it swims I'll fish for it!
I'm starting to get that way..diversity is key
Palomar knot? Are there any benefits of using a barrel swivel vs using a similar quality ball bearing swivel other than cost savings?
I just like how these swivels perform and still not sure on that knot 😂
That's an awesome setup...
Thanks ima go get some 30 pound test flourcarbon cuss that what most of my steel leaders are

35lb!!! I need to come chase pike out there!
Irish pike have sharper teeth. I use a wire trace. 30feet of 30lb for 6euro.
Never had a chance to target them! I will learn a lot of new stuff if I ever do I am sure!

I’ve gotten away with 30 so 60 should be good

Sounds like a Paramore knot or fisherman's knot

Thank you very much!
Is it the Trilene knot, just wrapped twice?
Might be?
THATS IT!!!! I just RUclipsd it!
I think the knot you are using is the trilene knot
I believe it's called a trilene knot.
sounds like a blood knot
Polymer knot
That's a double triline with a single clinch.
That is the rapala loop knot 😁
Nope! lol RUclips that knot and rewatch how I tie mine! lol
@@DWSOutdoors hmmmm well then.....
For now it's the dws knot......
Maybe you did what I did and started doing a knot then over time subconsciously started tweaking it? Until it became something entirely new.
lol I think the guy above you got it right with the Trilene Knot?
So the northerns will not cut through the leader? I always thought you needed a steel leader.

Doesnt matter, I run 40lb braid, and my leader was 80 lbs braid and the pike still ran off with the frog.
I have found 60-80lb Floro has a very high sheering strength vs braid with a very low one! I have had 60-80lb braid shredded by pike teeth!
Running jerkbaits gotta use nic.ti. leader. Pike will curlee que slice that 60 lb fluro..otherwise, fluro all day.
20 lb hasn't broke me off yet. 80 lb? You really want to save your lures!
lol If it still catches fish why not!
@@DWSOutdoors cause you know me. 12 dollars vs 55 dollars for leader material. :-)
@@fishlovme You'll spend the money if you fish enough in lost lures lol Why not prevent the lost time on the water!

You need to fish more before you can say something works GREAT lol
Ok I won't give you anymore crap lol

@@DWSOutdoors you know when you target toothy critters you'll catch Bass lol
