      I have dyslexia and add and it brought me back to my childhood. Damnn parents think they are helping when in fact they are leaving long lasting emotional scars. I now even in my twenties, shut down when I don't get something or continue to question my intelligence eventhough I have achieved far more than people thought I could. I am a university student now. And little me would have thought I was to dumb for that.
      This made me so sad and they need to stop the competitions its only going to install in her head that she is less than.

My personality is similar to Ami’s in that we want to just fix the problems we see and it’s hard to watch someone doing something we deem as wrong and I think she just got carried away thinking the girls can handle that kind of criticism. I think she didn’t realize it hurts differently when it’s just one of the girls that’s struggling. Hopefully she’ll read the comments and realize she should lighten up.

    Alexa seems to always be under fire. Her confidence seems blown. Laughing at her having a hard time seems a little unfair, especially on film. Letting Jersey like one sister over the other, ouch. One of the things we as children were taught, it’s okay to like one over the other, but putting it in the atmosphere was not okay. One recipe was easier as there were no extra steps. I agree with Alexa, it should have said combine all ingredients. God bless

    I love this family. And while watching Alexis struggle I was like o gosh 🤦🏾‍♀️ but also I felt bad. I notice we as people in general tend to judge others that don’t understand something that seems so simple. Just bc something is so simple to you doesn’t mean it’s the same for others. Especially those younger with less experience. Comprehending the instructions may be easier for the parents and for us older viewers but that’s bc we have more experience and even sometimes I don’t understand things and have to re-read to try and understand. Many parents don’t take the time and realize the effect they have on their kids. I’m proud of Ava for wanting to help her sister out even though it was a competition. But Ami and Justin your reactions to Alexis not understanding what she was doing was stressing her out. Making comments such as you don’t want to eat her cookies, you’ll just make your own, and saying she’s making the cookies look disgusting. That’s not doing anything but tearing Alexis down and making her feel even worse for not knowing what she’s doing. She was probably already feeling bad on the inside the reactions of her parents were probably making her feel even worse and want to give up.

But if your implying that the parents comments were ok then ima need YOU to rewatch the video and pay close attention to the facial expressions Alexis was making did she look happy? 🤔 Also listen to what she says in the video about how the reactions from her parents were making her feel. Alexis didn’t know how floss so when she tried Ami would make mean comments like “You look like you broke your back” “You look like an old grandma” Alexis still kept trying, but this time she lost her confidence, she wanted to cry but she knew the reactions she’d get from her parents.

    Ms. Cynthia here! For the first time, I didn't really like this video. I didn't like how you parents were yelling your instructions to the girls. Obviously Ava had a better grasp, but you were frustrating Alexis. You triggered my memories of trying to cook with my mother. Ami, you kept criticizing how Alexis was doing. She obviously needed to work slower and at least had her questions answered. Ava wanting to help her is not a bad thing: you and Justin were determined to make this a competition. The girls use to help each other a lot more when they were little. I think the competition is more for content. It was already biased when Jersey pointed to Ava without tasting the cookie first. Even after he tasted it, he pointed to Ava. I remember when he use to favor Alexis more; you can go back to previous videos to see that. This is my personal opinion, I know. But I have been watching so long now, and I've met you all, and it was frustrating me that Alexis just needed more time. I teach simple cookie making when I babysit so I've had this experience with children. Okay. Still love you and I want you ALL to be happy.

    Mama and dada McClure remind me of my father, always cracking jokes and pointing at what seems like harmless fun to an adult. But I totally get Alexis getting frustrated, maybe you should encourage her rather than poke fun. Y’all are great but always so focused on making the kids compete against each other rather than encourage and work together. No hate, but it’s apparent in lots of videos not just this one. And rather than making them strong, you make them anxious. Also should address jerseys favouritism, hurts my heart to see how Alexis is outcasted by him......not trying to scold you but you put your family on the internet

    Maybe the overbearing criticism was “just for the video” (either way it’s not okay). I think Ami needs to improve on how she speaks to the kids. Felt pretty bad for Alexis tbh. You can see her self confidence fade in this video. I’m sure that wasn’t the intention, but sometimes what we call “tough love”, is not exactly love, and can easily do more harm than good.
    Other than that, it’s great that they’re learning how to bake 🙌🏽 Pretty fun way to practice comprehension too 😊👏🏽

  • @katelynstar6310
    @katelynstar6310 2 года назад +57

    Also Lexi wasn’t being too “sensitive” people are effected differently by things said or done to them. You may not meant what you said in a mean way but in her eyes she could’ve of taken it that way. Doesn’t matter how you deliver something how people receive it is how THEY receive it. I did a prank I felt was innocent on a friend and told her that her reaction was dramatic. But turns out what I saw as a innocent prank really wasn’t as the effect of my prank wasn’t so innocent on her end. So it’s not right for us to invalidate peoples feelings. Even if they didn’t take what we were trying to say or do in the way we were trying too.

    Permanent damage is being done and will take much work to repair in the future. I am not sure if the parents realize they are creating a toxic atmosphere for Alexis - and creating relationship problems between Alexis and Ami - Justin - Jersey - and saddest of all - Ava - who should be her BEST FRIEND for life - but that will soon turn into resentment and cause major problems if this parental favoritism continues. You can not pick a favorite with twins - you just can’t!!! Look at Alexis face - can’t you see her little spirit and heart breaking right in front of you? How do you not see that Justin & Ami???

    Mrs. Ami, please just try to have a bit more of a heart when you share your family with us. All your fans (including myself) know how amazing of parent you and Justin both are, but your attitude in this video was just abhorrent. Alexis should not feel like the "dark horse" in the 3rd grade. It's a little competition, every family member gets casted into roles and what-have-you, but almost everytime you communicate with Alexis, it just feels a bit off. Not just in this video too, you usually tend to be a bit harsher on Alexis even when you're joking.
    Idk... just think about it.

  • @Sam77790
    @Sam77790 2 года назад +17

    stop being so sensitive, no Justin, I don't think you thought that through, that's immediately invalidating her feelings, she's still a kid of course she gets fidgety and frustrated quickly she hasn't learned to navigate her feelings and respond better to situations, kids with a sensitive personality always have to deal with that and they learn to suppress their emotions, you don't tell a kid to stop being so sensitive, you help them deal with their response to pressure more intellectually, it's okay to feel frustrated, it's just not going to help you, you just have to calm down and think more properly.
    PS I hope you really read the comment, you don't wanna raise kids that don't know how to be kind to themselves, the voice your parents raise you with is the voice you adopt in talking to yourself

    1st off all that talking loud to Lexi and criticizing her is unnecessary. It's a competition, but she's still learning. I know from experience that does not help her to learn. It's embarrassing. Guiding her through was fine, but criticizing her errors esp on camera was not cool, but good job ladies the cookies looked great. Recipes can be tricky, but the recipe should say combine together.

    ...Or how to turn what could have been a good memory for everyone into a stressful moment. I can tell that the mom was raised in an old-school African household (and I mean no offense by that since I was raised in one as well). No empathy or patience, and the husband isn't any better.
    If you wouldn't talk to an adult like that (and I'm sure you wouldn't), I don't know why you think a child is fair game/can "handle" it. I've seen so many smart kids doubt their own potential because of stupid behavior like this

    I really didn't like this video because Ami and Justin kept on whispering and saying "look how she's needing the dough" or
    "that looks disgusting I would never eat that" or something along those lines, and they kept yelling at her telling her to reread the recipe. Ami also kept saying it's a competition when Ava wanted to help her, but Ava should have wanted to help her sister they were born best friends after all. I wish I Imani were there to see this, and no offense to Ami and Justin but Imani is way better at handling situations like this. And calling Lexi sensitive isn't helping at all. Also my heart broke when they started laughing at Lexi. I don't really think they are purposely trying to bring her down, I just think they are trying to joke around and poke fun at the situation but they could have been way more understanding when she didn't get the meaning of some words, they could have at least gave her some definitions of words be a little more gentle with Lexi. She may have an identical twin but they only get one Alexis so they should try to raise BOTH of the twin's self confidence and teach Jersey to love his sisters equally and also try to work on that themselves.I really do love their channel but I think they could really learn from Imani.

  • @leam7018
    @leam7018 2 года назад +29

    This video was really uncomfortable to watch. The way you were speaking to Alexis really was not cool. Maybe it just takes her a little longer than Ava to understand things. It looked to me that she was on the verge of tears and that she wanted to stop trying to do something that was supposed to be a fun activity. I know every family has their own way of speaking to each other and making fun of each other. But maybe when your child expresses to you, her parents, that she's feeling a certain type of way about not only the things you're saying to them but how you're saying it, maybe you could/should listen to understand her then validate her feelings instead of saying she's being too sensitive. I know this cause (at 42) I have family members who will say things to me that they think is just a joke but when I tell them that it's not funny, they make me feel like my feelings don't matter or that I'm being too sensitive cause I'm about to cry. All I'm saying is ease up on the criticism cause they could and will become adults with emotional issues who will need therapy to deal with it.

    Alexis was stressed true, but u can see that the competition was set up for her to win. Jersey prefers chocolate chips and she's given chocolate chips to prepare, this should tell us that the parents are trying hard to boost her self-confidence and balance out jerseys liking one twin over the other. In fact, in many of the competitions in their channel she's always favored to win. I love Lexi sooo much and I can relate with her, but let's give our opinions and corrections more objectively. Ami especially need to try and be more patient wit Lexi. She's only 8. Still a baby. I get that you were raised with tough love, but please have that extra patience wit Lexi. Tho when you do that, people may still complain that u r favouring her more, but please try to always do what's best for your kids. Ava seem more mature and better at comprehension but that doesn't mean Lexi can't do well too. So please, be more patient. Try to pick a little from all d advices given as they re valid whether you like the criticism or not! Thanks guys. I've been your super fun for years now and I can say that you guys do your best in giving really good entertainment on RUclips.... Thanks and cheers!

Mom and dad should just give instructions and leave the girls to read and follow the instructions in their own way. I feel with both parents there who talks more than anything else is applying unnecessary stress. NOT FAIR. This needs a do-over with less mom and dad.
