You said infertility robbed you of enjoying being pregnant because of the overpowering worry that everything is okay, but that worry is the same every pregnant woman feels wanting to hear that first heartbeat and seeing a healthy sono. So I want to say welcome to motherhood where worry begins and it never stops. 😉 Totally Happy for you guys

Yes! Hubby and I struggled with infertility two times. But I think, infertility or not, very few people don't go through the same worry, especially early pregnancy. It's just not something that's talked about since so many people don't announce until they get through the first worry hurdle. And once babe arrives, the worry gets worse. Like you said, welcome to motherhood! 😊

@@suziee6387 There might be an enhancement of those feelings for those who go through infertility (I don't know, getting pregnant wasn't easy for us). But definitely not ignorance if you haven't. Now I can only imagine that pregnancy loss would completely heighten the worry beyond what anyone can imagine unless it's been experienced. 😞

I can say from experience it hits different after infertility and especially pregnancy loss. My first baby was quick to conceive with no issues. Then had secondary infertility resulting in 2 losses, 1 which was a missed miscarriage discovered on ultrasound at 10 weeks and after conceiving later through IVF walking into that same ultrasound room I had previously receiving crushing news in was one of the most anxiety inducing things I've ever experienced.

i have not been watching you for very long just since the point you took your first pg test, congrats by the way. but what i did want to say is, how you said your waiting for something bad because of your journey now that you have that first ultrasound that tells you there is a baby and it does have a heart beat. you pushed yourself thru all that hard stuff and did all this with emotions and financially etc to get a baby....this was the goal in mind so dont let those bad thoughts consume you, celebrate your goal...this is what you worked so hard to achieve, don't rob yourself of what you pushed so hard to get. once again congrats im excited for your new journey.

I so felt everything you stated! My first transfer was in Jan. 2020. It was successful but when I had those thoughts I called my grandmother. Well she passed from Covid when I was just 3 months, I couldn’t attend her funeral due to being pregnant and started to resent being pregnant. I hated it. However, my daughter is my saving grace. I thought this round would be easier…..and nope I will 6 wks tomorrow from the second transfer and I’m still so worried and the feelings have come up again in regards to my grandma. You are not alone! My prayers go out to you! ❤

I’m going through my own IVF journey solo right now; only received one healthy embryo from first cycle of IVF in January. Did a mock cycle because of only having one embryo, ERA results weren’t good, and I’m switching some meds this go around. My transfer date is May 4, 2023. I’ve been on this journey for 3.5 years now and have never gotten this far! But, I have watched 1,000 of videos (it feels like) and just stumbled on yours this week. You are the first person who has said EXACTLY what I have been feeling and what I have been wanting to share with friends and family who want to be supportive, but I never felt like the words I was saying came across or delivered the message I truly wanted to. But listening to you talk and process out loud has been ENORMOUSLY HELPFUL for me to be able to do that! I feel like you are speaking all my thoughts out loud!
I’m looking forward to following your journey and sending happy, positive vibes your way ❤

What you were describing in the beginning of the video reminds me of how it can be easy to feel about happiness in general. When you are so use to disappointment and sadness, it's hard to accept how and when to feel happiness. You have a natural urge to protect yourself and your feelings. Sometimes it's not even in your control, it's just how your brain and body is trying to protect you. Try to focus on the little milestones and take it day by day.

One thing I suggest is get a baby album and make notes after every ultrasound then put the pictures. I’m doing that with my pregnancy and I know I’ll look back and love all the notes. I usually put how many weeks, heat rate, what he was doing or anything else that was special. I didn’t do that with my daughter and I wish I had!

I totally relate to the waiting for the other shoe to drop. It finally did for me in my last trimester. It’s been one of the hardest times in my life. Getting diagnosed with gestational hypertension and diabetes. Many emergency room visits, inducing early, extreme worry etc. I also have severe chronic pain and fatigue so it’s been almost too much at times but at the same time I can be over over joyed with this experience. It’s hard to JUST be happy when I have dealt with so many hardships in life, but I think HOPE and faith play a huge huge role in keeping the joy and attitude up.
PS thanks for the honesty because anything really helps right now that it’s not rainbows abs butterflies 24/7 but can still be a dream come true. There is no all or nothing. We are blessed, in a perfectly imperfect way ❤

You are going to feel the emotions you are because you’re human. Emotions are natural, so allow them but it’s how you handle them that matters. If you need to talk to someone do it, you’ll feel so much better. Look into mindfulness techniques as well. It’s ways to put your mind and body in a more relaxed and positive place. P.S. i went through infertility too.

What you said about how much infertility robs you of the experience hasn’t resonated more for me. After and ectopic, chemical, and most recently a miscarriage in Feb to now finding out I’m pregnant again after my next transfer doesn’t feel real. I feel like I’ll be waiting for the next thing to go wrong until I hold my baby. That naïveté has been crushed.
Staying positive is hard but I’m working on it and PASP 💯.
This fear and distrust/disbelief is going to stay with me. Thank you for sharing this! Your journey has been so comforting to feel like I’m going through this with you! I’ve got 3 weeks until my ultrasound!!!
    Congratulations on your bean!💙💗

I found you a few weeks ago and at the right time. We are 2 years into our fertility treatment. We had 3 cancelled IUI’s due to overstimulation. We had egg collection - 8 collected, 7 made it to day 5. We had to do freeze all due to overstimulating again. We had our first transfer this time last year and sadly lost at 6 weeks due to sub chorionic hematoma. On the next cycle we tried again and we got to 8.5weeks and again lost due to SCH. We were talking about going again 7 months after loss. I wasn’t sure. I found your videos and it has reignited my want, it’s made the fear seem not as bad. I’m hoping to start prep for 3rd FET this week. Third times a charm right?
Thank you for everything and I wish you all the luck! I can’t wait to follow along your journey!

Just pausing the vid to say, first trimester can be the doldrums. I was really blue and strangely unexcited about being pregnant even though it was my most tender hopes and dreams that had become a reality. Also, even before I experienced any losses I was gripped with uncertainty and fear before each ultrasound. This is a natural extension of motherhood, I think. Nevertheless, with that said, no matter the journey, sadnesses, troubles, difficulties or heartbreak experienced in the path to motherhood, it is all 100% worthwhile. You made me cry! We did the exact path as you, and had our first daughter in December 2014. This brings back so many memories. Simultaneous rollercoasters is the best way I can describe it-as one is at its highest point, the other is at it lowest. I wish you the absolute best pregnancy, labor, and birth-ending with a healthy baby and mama. Knowing that these videos are quite behind, calms my nerves! The first trimester is so difficult yet amazing. You feel sick 24/7, full of hormones making you feel a type of extreme exhaustion that is like NOTHING else. Yet, you have no bump to show for it! A little tip that helped me through to the next appt/ultrasound is to buy a fetal doppler for home. It REALLY helped calm my nerves to hear that amazing little heart galloping away (yes, they are perfectly safe to use-coming from a pediatric nurse and mama of 5 healthy babes) until you start feeling baby consistently moving. Starting to feel baby move varies so much depending if your placenta is posterior or anterior and it being your first pregnancy. 20-22 weeks + or - a week or two depending on the above factors is around what I felt in my first pregnancy. I just thought I’d share this little tip, as it reduced my anxiety so much. I am over the moon for you and Jack. I cannot wait to watch your bump grow! My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for almost 4 years, gone through IVF, had a blighted ovum (which you referred to seeing before in the video) and finally got a good HCG on Thursday. We are excited but so scared for our scan in two weeks. Congratulations and looking forward to continuing to follow your journey! ❤

Can totally relate to the feeling in the beginning of waiting for something to go wrong or other shoe to drop. Like holding your breath, that you don’t want to let yourself to fully enjoy it because if the what if. Especially when you don’t fully “feel pregnant”. Hearing that heart beat certainly helps. There is going to be a lot of new steps over the next 9 months. I’m feeling that same anxiety as I start the induction process for labor, which wasn’t how I hoped the end would go but I’m also excited to meet our little girl who we wouldn’t have if it weren’t for the fertility clinic help. Sending tons of love and support to you both. So excited for you!

So excited for you!! I am currently laying on the couch which is the only thing helping with my nausea at 8 weeks (eating is meh, and I have food aversions to basically all foods except for when I crave something super specific qns can then eat a small portion of that. But no vomiting yet which is great as I borderline have emetophobia! But thankful for this experience!).
I can imagine with your HCG numbers you took a nose dive into feeling crappy, but as other commenters noted, it is kind of comforting (while simultaneously being very uncomfortable!). I hope you are on the other side though feeling amazing!
I am glad you are able to feel all your feelings so openly about the excitement and the anxiety and the frustrations. Your enjoyment of the special moments is still very evident but the other elements are also a very real and very understandable part of the process. I can emphasize with many of them.

I wanted to share too that I have not personally dealt with infertility and I m pregnant with my third child and my anxiety has been through the roof at times. I do think even without a history or any complications..it can be very stressful very challenging mentally and emotionally. I myself , protect myself from disappointment and don't feel like I should talk about my baby much or buy anything for a long time or make plans even though everything is going well. Also, I have felt sick like your described..disgusted all day and at night..sick feeling if I eat and if I don't eat and in between but no vomiting. Hoping for a reprieve from it soon as I approach 13 weeks. Just remember its a good sign they say

I absolutely understand the “waiting for the other shoe to drop” anxiety. I have 3 boys and I’m 33 weeks pregnant with my daughter. We’ve battled infertility and loss since the very beginning. I lost 9 babies and my kids are quite spaced in age. I’ve had the most of the losses between my youngest son and this baby girl. I don’t think that feeling began to subside til after the anatomy scan. Honestly I still felt that way through week 32. As we get closer I have more of a sense of peace that it will work out.

With my daughter I had high blood pressure At every doc visit because I was anxious and “waiting for the other shoe to drop” I think the check points are so helpful to help relieve anxiety.
