@zipzingerdude5 What he meant was, no technique is used from the traditional style of wushu. The fighting seen here just looks like kickboxing - so jeff was posing the question, why not just kickbox, if you're not going to use your traditional techniques anyway?

whats the difference between this and regular boxing? Everything I have seen on youtube, Choy lee fut, wing chun, they all fight the same in competition.. no techniques are used...so why train?

the CLF forms and techniques could not be used due to wearing gloves does not answer the legitimate question as CLF forms, stance , foot work, techniques, 10 elements (fist style) not seen on the fight. For example, a back spinning fist is a form and technique and could be used with or without gloves on, the only diference is you see a back spinning fist or a back spinning glove. Habits comes from repetitions. if you use CLF techniques only to sparring, you would use CLF only to fight.

I am from or train by master David lacey, but Master the general quoted that ' It not the style, but the stylist'.

What I see, in my opinion, in this video is 2 martial artist very anxious and nervous...Doesn't look like they are calm and concentrated. That results in a fight that looks bad, isn't powerful and doesn't have much technique.

    Choy Lay Fut?

on the "Choy Lay Fut Vs Muay Thai take 3! " , the CLF person did use the CLF technique several times clearly on round 3, the back spinning fist (with glove on). Therefore, a lot of techniques , forms, stance , footwork, of CLF could still be used on fights , even with gloves on. when you practice boxing, you use boxing technique to fight, so if you practice CLF, people expect you use CLF to fight. if you are CLF practitioner, you win a fight , but not with CLF techniques, you lose.

Oh, and here's a good one for Wing Chun. This is student vs student, no rules(other than probly biting, eye gouging, tearing things off, and deliberate groin kicking). There is padding again however, and most of these are low level students, form is still there, as unorthodox as it may be. /watch?v=WFHK0Qe0mUE&feature=plcp&context=C4bd583fVDvjVQa1PpcFO77bAtEFfDbVNUidCZRS42QL9j_CZCf1k%3D

The comments here are actually very interesting and something I've been curious about as well. When you see matches involving practitioners of Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar, etc they all look the same. Each system is supposed to have its own 'flavor' -- it's own unique movements, legwork, stances, combinations, etc. Yet during actual matches it simply turns into generic "kickboxing".
Not the best fight, but interesting since you can see both system's unique flavor, movements, etc: watch?v=CTXtQogCNh4

@@juanantonio192 their is ample evidence out there that all but proves that the majority of Chinese martial arts are ineffective in most combat scenarios.
If someone wants to see good looking Kung Fu they should watch it in films. In real life the odd poses and strange hand techniques run counter to practical fighting methods.
Think about it. If you suddenly got punched, what would be your natural instinct? To form your hands into claw shapes and fight like an animal, or box, kick, and grapple?
Dont get me wrong, I'll always think Kung Fu is cool and admire anyone that can do it justice, but most of it is just not practical or as effective as it's been made out to be as plenty of evidence shows.

Why do you use kickboxing instead of CLF? Im not against kickboxing , but if its kickboxing then title your video " kickboxing vs. Kixkboxing". Dont insult your art. Katsunori Kikuno inthe video " MMA vs. Karate pelea en Garayujima Analisi y reaccion/ Alerto Barbera". Looked more kungfu than this. And he was using Okinawan kenpo. He lnocked out a ufc fighter with it. Arent you ashamed?😢😢😢

I see two students with limited ability from their individual disciplines, doing their best to calm their nerves and fight. trying their best to remember techniques and moves they learned but also trying their best to not get hit or avoid being hurt. I see two students who are overthinking things and trying to not let their instructors down. I see good sportsmanship and in the end I see the better art won. let us all remember that there is a big difference between competition and real world application. a competition has a lot of rules and guidelines, a competition is closely monitored and there is a referee. there is padding and gloves and protective gear worn at all times. things like kicks to the groin are not allowed, fingers in the eye sockets and biting is not allowed. but in a real world fight you can do anything you want. technique is not good because in a real fight all it takes to lose is just one lucky strike to land. one unseen kick or your opponents mate to hit you from behind. to win a real fight you must strike hard and fast direct and to the point. no fancy techniques or fancy movements. NEVER:- turn your back to your opponent- assume it is just one on one- take your eyes off your opponent (watch them)- overthink techniques- use fancy moves like spinning whatever or open yourself up by using any movement that involves you flailing your arms around for whatever techniqueALWAYS:- assume every fight is life or death (you don't know what they will do to you if you are unconscious on the ground)- assume they have backup (nobody starts a fight without some kind of mate)- strike hard and fast and FIRST (would you rather be in court explaining a self defence charge or in hospital recovering from a knife wound?)- keep your guard up (how can you be hit if your head cannot be reached?)- stick to what works. if it means stab your thumb into their eye socket or bite their ear off... DO IT. They attacked you, they want to hurt you maybe kill you, you will do whatever works to end the fight so you can run away and SURVIVE. ever wonder why law enforcement and military units don't teach traditional karate or stlyes of kung fu?there is no rules in the street, there is no referee in the street. learning a martial art is only as useful as your intention. kung fu, karate and other traditional artforms are more for self discipline and self cultivation. new style artforms such as krav maga, MMA and muay thai (close quarters combat styles) are perfect for real world applications. because they focus on nothing fancy or technique. they concerntrate on short, direct and focused attacks.
