- This is raw footage warm up and wing spread of the Wings of The North F4U-4 Corsair, recorded 8 May, 2020. The Corsair later joined up with P-51D Sierra Sue II, the W.O.T.N. T-6 Texan and about 7 other aircraft from T-6 Thunder and Fagen Fighters Museum to celebrate VE-Day with multiple flyovers.
I’m not the only one that absolutely loves the rhythm of that amazing engine, right?
8 cylinders sound good.18 sound even better.
8 cylinders sound good.18 sound even better.
You are not alone.
No your not
That Pacific warrior at her finest. Love that bent wing baby. Pratt and Whitney R 2800 singing like an angel.
Hearing this start up is awesome, seeing and hearing one fly is the best!!!
And this one flies regularly.
Of course there is my favorite warbird I love listening to the whistle
I grew up watching Greg Boyington fly the F4U Corsair in ba ba Blacksheep there's not a better sound in the world hearing one of those startup thank you for sharing
My dad flew the Corsair in the South Pacific durning WWII.
The stories he would share of flying were wonderful.
I have no doubt.. he is flying one now in Heaven
Gorgeous plane. My favorite. Second is the JuG
My ultimate mega millions dream???? By one of these babies!!!
Ahhhhh there it issss...my radial cold start fix....
When all those cylinders decide to cooperate and be team players......man what a sound!
The Corsair was built in Stratford,Connecticut
As was the Pratt and Whitney Engines
Internal combustion engines❤️. The Corsair is my favorite, what a machine❤️
Theres one of those at the Yeovilton air museum here in the UK, bloody beautiful aeroplane !!.
Just wanted to add this. The Pratt and Whitney engines were also made in Connecticut
Beautiful bird.
Airforce Veteran, beautiful aircraft! After 16 years on flighlines all over the world.
Worked on and flew in F4 Phantoms, this F4U1 Corsair is beautiful.
What an airplane, what an engune
I hope the people who scoffed at the Right Brothers before they got off the ground lived long enough to witness the fighter planes of WWII
If you love the F4-U, check out the F2-G1 Super Corsair. P&W R 4360. Goodyear built 10 of them.... awesome sounding planes!!!!
I would love to own one of those!!
Like waking up a dragon.
If they offered a 2nd seat opportunity to do a mock WWII scenario that included a dog fight or two and a dive bomb strafing over a mock ship in that like they do a Civil war themed fight.. I'd sell a left nut
At what altitude does the Corsair reach its maximum possible achievable True Airspeed in straight and level flight? Does anyone know? Thanks.
sweet bird!
i love the american flag just behind the canopy as if its looking over the pilot and has his back...sweet shot guys!
Pumping out a bit of oil from the lower cylinders, I would shut down and pulled the spark plugs to check those cylinders.
She's currently going through an annual, so any issues should be found out. Though she's flown many times since this startup, without much issue and relatively normal oil use.
12. cylinders
@@miguellemus2871 Better than having a cylinder change or two or three.
All radials smoke on lower cylinders on startup. It’s normal ops
@@frankbutaric3565 TRue, that's why the large radials were rotated by ground crew to pump the oil out of cylinders.
Imagine what would happen if the pilot folds the wing mid air.
Great plane. Painted a hideous blue that was never used by the Navy on any Corsair. That's what happens when the rich clueless owner goes to Sherwin Williams and says "Gimme blue".
Having problems to crank it up? Do you need us to go and push? LOL!
No , just turn the propeller with both hands ...
When I hit the Mega, 2 F4U-5's will be in the hanger......with a mechanic of course.
I'd pay just to sit in the cockpit, go through pre-flight and start the engine. That'd be cool.
