Hello, I am a Jamaican also of mostly "Lebanese" descent. If I may add, the more precise name for us should be Christian Arab Jamaicans. The reason for this was anyone who lived in that part of the world and was not Muslim faced oppressive discrimination. They were not only Lebanese but there were also Egyptian, Palestinian and Syrians in the mix. Considering at this time this entire region was ruled under the Ottoman empire it could gave been easily mixed up. Also the Arabs started immigrating to Jamaica as early as the 1840's due to the rise and spread of Wahabism a sect of Sunni Islam which has a very strict interpretation of Islam and is still widely practiced today throughout the Middle East.

I had my reasons why I don't like my black ancestry in Jamaica 🇯🇲 yet I'm Brown. My moms side is Lebanese, Chinese, and some African and others but she's Jamaican and she don't like us calling us completely black we are mix Jamaican. My biological fathers father and his side is Italian and German Jamaican and some have black done Brown and some brown light skinned. My uncle told me and he also say we not slaves. I am a Riettie but Riettie use to be Rietti before they change it to a e. my uncle also told me my Riettie grandfather use to own a jewelry shop in Jamaica 🇯🇲 and funny I nsje jewelry and my own business as a baker and a self-taught artist that paint my own original and not copy or commercial art like stupid people do and how they taught in there college. I have sri 🇱🇰 in us too. My biological father’s mom his both French and Canadian and indigenous ( native indian) and also metis so im
7th generation metis and my grandfather is the founder of noëville in Canada. My mother stepfather has German that looks a little white and he's Jamaican and he's a brown. My biological half brother has born to my mother, my brother had a grandmother that's married to a Scottish Jamaican that looks white and he is brown too. Black Jamaicans were evil and jealous of the haka Chinese and some are in Montego Bay and I knew some one couple years ago and then are racist to Chinese because they want them to mix with Chinese and be like Jamaica. That's why I hate being black.

I left Jamaica in 1969 for New York so I understand the migration, of Jamaicans of all ethnicities, for better opportunities. There are over a million Jamaicans living outside of Jamaica mostly in England, United States and Canada.

    Very interesting documentary.
I'm not German, but was born in Germany to parents of Danish/Sicilian and Nigerian/Lebanese decent.
Grew up both in Germany and Nigeria and as an adult moved permanently back to Nigeria.
I am fluent in German.to this day.
Since the ppl of this town have kept the names of their ancestors and know the name of the ship on which their ancestors travelled, there must be documents somewhere in Germany that could help to find out more about their origins.
Germans are good with beauracracy like that.
Pray they find out sth that can help answer some of their questions.
I am blessed to know about my ancestors from all four different countries and cultures.
But Africa is the continent where I have always felt most at home, that's why I moved back here.
My Lebanese ancestors came to West Africa way over a hundred years ago and my branch married locals, where as some others stayed within their small community.
To each their own, I am glad to be mixed and culturally and racially diverse.
    One love 🫶🏾

@@BrianSmith-Fitzgarld sure segregation didn't happen theoretically in Jamaica but the white Americans and English tourist prefer going to hotels that barred black people . They rather stayed in villas and housing units that is unavailable for its black and Asian residents . They kept the power and status amongst themselves . The Germans , Irish and Spaniards were cussed out and shamed for living alongside those they opposed . That's why there is a lack of infrastructural development in the countryside . To avoid racial assimilation and unity.

BSWSs it's really been made easier for everyone. More pleasant compatibility on a full time basis and less being forced to deal with someone you cant stand and who cant stand you.
