No questions, I think you've covered it pretty well! Very good tips, and they are much appreciated. Also heading over to diamond heart club to pick up some multi placers, they look like they're engineered better than the plastic type. The solar system is coming along nicely, beautiful piece.

So glad you found it helpful. The multiplacers really are amazing! Thank you so much for the compliments, they mean a lot ♥♥

I learned an entirely different way. I started with a small round DAC kit with a ton of colour blocking (I bought Owl Post & Making Friends) and a ruler. I mastered first with the ruler and by the end of the first kit could use a 12-placer without the ruler. Then I switched to squares, again a kit with lots of colour blocking so I could get in some really good practice sessions. It didn't take long at all though, maybe an hour and I had adapted from round to square. Totally agree that the DAC placers are the best (plastic and metal) and tray is important, particularly for big areas.

Thanks so much for commenting. It's always interesting to see how different people learn. If I ever went to rounds, might have to try the ruler! ♥

When i first started diamond painting, diamond art club didnt sell multiplacers, so i learned with the plastic 4 placers that came with the kits, to the point where they would wear down and i used to file them down to maximum from them until they snapped clean off and id start with a new one. I bought myself some metal 9 placers, and just used those to "scale up", from placing 4, then 5, 6, etc till i got the hang of it. Once dac introduced their 2nd version of metal tips (the multipack was awful!) I started buying those, although i didnt buy smaller than the 6 placer and youre right, the putty makes it much easier than wax in my opinion. My go to pen has a dac 10 placer and i just use this mainly, decreasing the amount of drills. They do accommodate an extra square drill, but are as advertised for round drills. Regards spacing, youre right to line up the squares to one corner and stay consistent, with round drills, its best to try and place centrally to the drill field. There needs to be a little spacing to allow for glue shrinkage as it cures, if there is no spacing and/or you place your drills too close together, you will more than likely end up with popping drills ❤

Thanks for your invaluable words of wisdom Jan. It's so wonderful to learn and share from each other. Not sure still whether I will ever do rounds!!! 🤣🤣

@jonathansdiamondpainting hehe, everyday is a learning curve, I think you should give one of the small (ish) rounds a go, just to say you've done one, but that said, nearly my whole DAC stash are Square drills now, I used to hate squares, but dac have made it easy 🥰

I've done round coaster kits and sticker kits- they count don't they? 🤣

the putty is interesting. I use mini dots for single placers but they don't work well in multiplacers. the wax gets messy and is my biggest hurdle, especially with ABs. Seeing the putty work so well is very exciting and my next avenue to make squares less of a chore.

Yes, Cat’s putty works really well for me depending where you are there are putty sellers all over the world- just research on Etsy. I do want to try homemade scented beeswax at some point as well just as a way to be more ethical - but not sure how well it will work. 💜
