Fabulous boat. Has many updates that make it worlds better than its predecessor. Am tall and I wanted a more stable boat than the G1 but didn't give up the speed. Tried a G2 and traded my G1 in pretty much right then and there. Its a little faster but its far easier to stay going fast because especially with the skeg down the G2 tracks extremely well. Its extremely fast, according to Strava & Garmin I can get it up to about topping out around 6.3mph, gets up to speed in just a couple strokes, is effortless to paddle even somewhat fast without having to push it to outrun any comparable kayak and for what it is extremely stable. 1 even 2 foot white caps don't faze it much as long as you keep paddling but if you find a quiet cove you can stop and not get out to enjoy a drink, snack or take photos. You really don't need a rudder and can control the boat just with paddling style and the skeg its good not to have that complexity as it tracks heroically well in bad conditions. Its also easy to carry this 36lb boat anywhere, get it over fences and into closed parks especially this time of year. Also have an ST-17 and not smitten by the Smart Trak rudder as it has dead spots and you can't feel it so its hard to control. The seat is also not the best I wish Stellar boats used the same comfy seats as Wilderness Systems. Other than that I love my G2 take it out on long paddles seeing the miles melt away. I own different ones and all Stellar boats are absolutely wonderful just get better seats!
