Cool! I been waitin! :) I installed Budgie on the Base install and it's doing fine. I'm in the process of adding what I want to it now. Looking good so far!

Awesome video Tom, as Budgie is currently my 2nd favorite desktop after GNOME with traditional layout, as it's just so simple to use, and good for a beginner to Linux, and/or someone who is just not the most technically minded, once it's setup of course, or on it's home distro of Solus
Having said that it's not perfect, because if you have an HP printer, having to go to 3 different places(2 with my wireless brother laser printer) after downloading the HP Linux software just to get the dang thing setup, and to print/scan can be a bit of a hassle at least on Solus/Manjaro Budgie, but then again it's the same on Manjaro/Solus GNOME, and I hope it gets fixed eventually.

Dark themes are pretty but they are more fatiguing to use with my old eyes. I like to use dark theming for everything except the main contents. Menus icons and so on are nice dark, but reading a wall of text is more comfortable with black text on a white background.

Oxygen icon theme is probably inspired by Oxygen KDE theme back from old KDE4 days (I think).
As a proposal what to cover in future videos:
Getting normal scrollbars in GTK (Qt generally allows all those things normally, I think).
    Normal means:
    1. Always visible
    2. With steppers
    3. Not 6px wide
    4. Without smooth scrolling, animations and any other slow downs
    5. Left button scrolls PageDown not in "go to" manner
    Basically Win7 type of scrollbars.

I'm still trying to figure out why Debian and Debian Based Distros like Linux Mint Debian Edition and MX Linux has video problems on my HP Computer, when no other Distro has a problem. Currently getting ready to test openSUSE, and maybe Fedoria, if I can figure out how to update and install the software I need.

HP has had some funky BIOS/UEFI over the years, as I have an HP Pavilion desktop I salvaged from the e-waste a while back as my work computer with an Intel i7-2600s, and by all the specs of the chip I should be able to pair it with a newer GPU, but the the only card in my collection that works besides the old 1GB AMD card it came with is an MSI AMD R7 250 2GB card with no power plug, anything else newer just gives me a black screen on boot even with extra power, and some distros like Linux Mint DE don't play too well with it either, which is why I'm using Manjaro GNOME with traditional layout that runs like smooth butter with the CPU/GPU combo, 16GB DDR3 ram, and a 120GB SSD/1.5TB HDD(came with it), but I did have to do a BIOS update in Windows 7 to make it happy.
So look to see if your system has a BIOS update, get a spare drive install Windows on it, do the update, and look for distros that support the last Linux kernels.

@@CommodoreFan64 I don't know if they even support a bios on a computer from 2014. I once tried to update the BIOS through Windows 10. I remember it was weird.

I just tried to update the BIOS for HP Elite 800 G1 SFF. I can't find anything or anyway to do it. Even with Windows.

@@gregorylock im in the same boat as you with bios - tooo old :( you might land lucky with a SFF graphics card installed, anything bigger than the ram the onboard takes i suppose?

@@room2738 It's strange because, the video works with Linux Mint 21.3 XFCE, PCLinuxOS XFCE, PopOS Gnome, Ezarcher XFCE, Fedora 38 XFCE, MX 21.3 But I got to change the Kernel to antiX 5.10.
The video gives problems with Linux Mint Debian Edition, MX 23 Beta2, Tails OS, Debian 11 and 12. What I have been trying to tell everyone is that something isn't quite compatible with any distro that is Debian or Debian based. I think it's something configured wrong with the Debian Kernels.
I think I am close to figuring out how to flash my BIOS. But, it appears that it is already flashed to a version that came out in 2020.

i want to install debian standard iso.I guess it has no DE and then I want to install budgie DE on it via the terminal interface. Please make a video on that sir.

you can do so, by using apt to install the budgie DE, applets, and lightdm, by doing the following commands
      sudo apt install budgie-desktop budgie-indicator-applet lightdm xserver-xephyr
      sudo dpkg --reconfigure lightdm
      systemctl reboot
I believe that then should allow you to start with budgie installed if you wanted to do so via terminal interface.

Does Budgie have any advantages over Gnome? It seems very similar.

I just like the GUI. Budgie currently depends on Gnome, that is why they are similar.
