As someone who has been soldering for 40 years, my only critique is you're working it a bit too much. Heat up the solder just long enough to melt it and let it go. If you keep working it, you can damage the copper traces or, as you did, accidentally bridge two points because you heat up the surrounding area. Solder wants to flow to heat. You can actually see this with wire if you heat up a short length of it away from the tip, then touch the solder at the very tip of the heated wire. The solder will travel up the wire to the iron. I'm also seeing you could benefit from some solder wick. Which uses this exact principle to remove solder from a joint.
I just watched a video yesterday a gal used LED lights for a 6x8 shadow box said to trash the rest no way to use the rest. I hate wasting money like that. Spend 10 bucks on lights use a bucks worth.

Most modern solder is lead free, still always a good idea to avoid the fumes though

Well she's wrong. Just grab another controller and solder it in and you have 2 sets of LED strip lights.
