People say that BMW i3 looks ugly well what kind of city electric car is? All small cars don't look like M3s or M6 grand coupes , it's suppose to look compact damn don't hate if you don't have the car or in the market or don't get the car
Exceptionally cheap to run... if you cycle your cars within lease. Buying second hand, that battery pack replacement at 7 years will cost half the vehicle purchase price. Nobody seems to mention that...
The problem with this car is the CCS charging system which is almost none existent in my area. The doors are also an absolute pain if you have children, you all get trapped between the silly doors every time you get out & the seatbelt is on the door! Oh and the boot is tiny. These are just some of the reasons why we got a Nissan Leaf, it's also much smoother & quieter then the BMW & has more standard equipment then the BMW. If you get the Tekna model it's got things which aren't available on the BMW & it's more reliable, do a search for BMW i3 problems, lots of owners have them!
Really good review!!! keep it up and try and not listen to all the oddballs in this comment section. you know what I mean. I think this car is so nice it might be my dream car. its just so interesting and has that badge #badgesnob
I've test-driven three of these, and I didn't feel the back doors were "annoying"- a lot of people use this word, I've found. Does it get annoying over time?
It’s a Marmite car. For two people who commute and live about 30 miles from a city centre it’s a good EV, or REX EV. Biggest problem owners would have is the cost and availability of the tyres.
Blake Swan it’s not sold here. Holden is what ford is in Australia and Chevrolet isn’t sold in the U.K. as they make crap cars that Brits don’t want. Americans cars don’t do well here hence only ford existing with cars made and designed in Germany and Vauxhall is the GM brand for the U.K. a company of Opel but now it’s been bought by Peugeot and Citroen
Chatta290 I figured as such. Literally there two decent cares, Bolt and Corvette, aren't sold anywhere outside the US. Just feel the Bolt is better than the i3 if yoi are not about status. Mute point
Blake Swan people here hate American cars anyway, very poor quality and not as good as the European cars. Resale values are atrocious and do is the technology. There is a reason they pulled out of the market.
Chatta290 well if you don't get the good gm cars, than that would only make sense, wouldn't it? That's like the Americanized crap VW products we get that are made with Tupperware interiors. Been to Germany. VW in Europe is a whole different product than what we get here. Not defending GM as I'm not a huge fan but they make some great V8 sports cars for the money here.
The job of a car designer must be best ever occupation in the world nowadays. All you need to do is just show up to work, draw a curved line on the bumper of a car, call it “facelift”, then head off to the pub for the rest of the day.
Yeah, the looks are pretty marmite, but I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. There's a reason why the Met Police and LFB are replacing most of their cars with these.
People call the Prius ugly but this oven on wheels looks even worse than that. It kinda reminds me of the nissan cube but it's uglier... Tho, it has kind of an unique quirky look and I guess people like that nowadays..
Because you don't understand this car...?! Maybe you are just too stupid to understand... LMFAO! I bet, if you could experience an i3, you certainly won't speak so absolutely idiotic about this car! Because it's a superb little citycar and nothing more! This car doesn't come cheap, and therefore only people with a certain amount of money and with more than just one car in the garage will buy an i3. The perfect car for emissionfree driving intown!
I don't know if you even read my comment, but I only criticized *its looks* not its use, or if it's a good car or not. _Maybe you're just too stupid to understand... LMFAO!_
Well, there was a time, when rounded edges were frown upon at a time, when the norm for cars were hard edges. Nowadays it's more the other way around. What is not the norm today, might be so tomorrow.
John Robert I'd say you would need to drive them to find out. Also the Leaf doesn't have active battery management i.e. Can't cool or heat up the battery.
Had one for 18 months and had loads of problems which haven't been fixed. Dangerous on ice or snow as the regen only acts on the rear wheels without using the front brakes which is like pulling on the handbrake and causes you to spin. Range extender is only required when it doesn't charge. Customer service is appalling and will be the last BMW I will ever own.
She said all EV's suffer slowness compared to the best sports cars. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is a beautiful car, fit and finish is really nice compared to say, a Bolt. But the Bolt goes 248 miles.
My Friend hired the i3 in Majorca for small family holidays and it was lovely. But - having Bmw GT series 3, I would worry about all costs. It can be far more than many expect. Changing a light bulb costs in Denmark more than 100 £ and unusual tires are also expensive since exceptional. I have also Hyundai IONIQ for half of the price and either my wife and I are happy with premium version of this hybrid.
Forget the range extender version. Climate change has made it obsolete, as all "hybrids" are. What are the numbers on the EV? Did they give it a bigger battery yet? I test drove the EV version six years ago and it was terrific but only went 80 miles, for $50k so no one bought any. Has any of that changed?
If you regularly carry adults in the back, forget about the i3. I'm 177cm tall, with the driver's seat adjusted to my position, I can't sit in the rear! It's too small.
What exactly is the point of a fossil burner in an EV? The best range extender you can have is a comprehensive and reliable public charging network. See Norway for the best example.
Gunnar René Øie Yes I’m aware of that. My comment stems from frustration with EV manufacturers who invest in this sort of stuff rather than in proper infrastructure.
Building infrastructure takes time. Range extender is an interim solution, before the charging network is built and, most importantly, the technology of super quick charging is implemented.
It won't get any further updates/upgrades. BMW already stated they will not continue with the 'i' brand and instead integrate the lessons learned into their regular series line-up.
Arven Tahtyan they did. They said that purpose of i3 and i8 is to show their vision of future and what they can do but now they are going to focuse more on electrification of their standard models.
Good riddance to i3 at least. The i8 is a nice looking car but the i3 is bloody awful, the disparity in the styling of this lineup is pretty astonishing
The thin tyres don't look good, but the shape of the side windows doesn't make any sense to me either, and the "bonnet" area looks like a pug's face; it's stubby and the nose is too high up. And just like the new Civic there's two huge black areas of nothingness under the headlight clusters. It's no better than the 2014 version
this is the reason i love Tesla and hate BMW. BMW has the ability to create a truly amazing electric car but they want to keep making oil/petrol based cars that cause lots of pollution.
hyylo I like what Tesla are doing but their fit, finish and isolation isn't a patch on companies like BMW. A car like an i3 is quieter than a Model X worth 3 times!
The Sport; Lower harder suspension with 19" wheels, the softest part of a cars suspension are the tyres and this model has rubber bands as tyres. People suffer range anxiety because of the false range claim. Buy a portable genny and when in use, chain it to your 19" wheels.
I’m trying to understand the point of your comment... Are you suggesting running a V8 ICE car and flying three times a year is better for the environment? Or if you run a V8 you spend your money on fuel and cannot afford to fly?
looks like they fixed it, it was a unlisted video which meant only if you looked on the channel and viewed all videos could you find it and would not show up in sub feed or a search of youtube. When I saw it it had only a few hundred views. so its been fixed, so disregard. However there are a number of other video done by the same person that are unlisted on there channel so i think they need to let her know how to unlist video unless there purposely hold back releases of the video. As Example the BMW SUV review is currently unlisted.
Headlight fell out on dual carriageway last night .new car warranty doesn't cover this .Other problems.Bad build quality STAY AWAY.Discusting after service treatment.Car bought new.8 week wait for a dog.pure electric model.
A Tesla Model 3 (Long Range) has 3 times the range and is cheaper as an i3 with similar equipment ... BMW fucked up... in winter u get down to 85 miles per charge or less ...

Great looking outside and one of the best interiors on the market.
Not at all lol
100% agree. The car's not bad either
It’s a really nice car to drive! Super fast off the line...
marco168888 uuh how is this super fast
@@Doormatte guess you haven't driven an electric car; otherwise you would know.
People say that BMW i3 looks ugly well what kind of city electric car is? All small cars don't look like M3s or M6 grand coupes , it's suppose to look compact damn don't hate if you don't have the car or in the market or don't get the car
But It is ugly. Check Tesla. BMW just doesn't Have the ability or faith to make a good electric car.
Good to see someone reviving bottles of readymix Malibu.
Is this the future of motoring? Thumbs up.
Seems I’m the only one who actually likes how this car looks
I just love how this lady explains 😍
The fact that the little digital car on the display screen isn't updated as well would bother me to no end.
That A-pillar is still very very thick...

2:35 The bottle doesn’t fit in the doorbin - it rests on top of it! So no..it doesn’t pass the bottle test..
It has 20 inch wheels not 19 the earlier models had 19 inch wheels.

I also did a review for that exact BMW i3s, if anybody wants to check it out. That exact car also was in a drag against a couple of mini's
ruclips.net/video/Ml3mDa23Hgk/видео.html
Drag race
The way the back door opens is kinda like the rx8
I think the *Mazda MX-30* also has hinged doors, (coach doors)!
Question: can you get the new i3 with Electric seats? And if so, can you spec memory?
No electric seat, except heating. Too heavy.
The problem with this car is the CCS charging system which is almost none existent in my area. The doors are also an absolute pain if you have children, you all get trapped between the silly doors every time you get out & the seatbelt is on the door! Oh and the boot is tiny. The i3 being a four seater is honestly a deal breaker for me. If they sold a five seat option I’d be sold.
Really good review!!! keep it up and try and not listen to all the oddballs in this comment section. you know what I mean. I think this car is so nice it might be my dream car. its just so interesting and has that badge #badgesnob
still not enough range. why not pack a 60kwh battery in there?
Why are you copy the CARWOW present??
Love the i3! Such a cool car
Looks great inside and out, very quick but it's claustrophobic in the back.
always showing full spec. show with the small screen :)
I've test-driven three of these, and I didn't feel the back doors were "annoying"- a lot of people use this word, I've found. Does it get annoying over time?
No it doesn't, it is actually really practical.
Nice Advert!! 👍
It’s a Marmite car. For two people who commute and live about 30 miles from a city centre it’s a good EV, or REX EV. Biggest problem owners would have is the cost and availability of the tyres.
Clive Sinclair I have one, managed to get the tyres for £130 each locally next day.
Vic Sandhu Still a lot of money per wheel. For a car that class.
Clive Sinclair Not a deal breaker
2:28 what kind of glove box?
Lidded? (presumably meaning “with a lid”)
Is this cost 50k??
Can you get 2.4m lengths of 3x2 timber in it?
Am I the only one who actually likes the design?
Curtis Shaw yes.
Curtis Shaw I love mine.
No it looks nice sci-fi
No it's stunningly good looking.
Do European markets gets the Chevy Bolt over there as a Holden or Vauxhaul?

Did you mention price or did I miss it?
I really like this little car
good review and someone that knows about EVs thank you
Excellent review Nicky.
why is video so green
They've colour toned it to be "artistic", and I don't like how it's turned out. It does no favors to the i3 or Nicki.
You have to open the front door before opening the rear door? Does that also apply when getting out?
Geordi La Forge Yes
lol
Geordi La Forge Apparently the wheels go around in reverse too. Lol
Used to think it was disgusting when it first launched, it grows on you, I have one now!

Almost all car companies are now making electric car.
Which it didn't look so quirky. BMW just need to make it look like a regular sexy small car and I will be very tempted.
thats a nice little car

It's a stretch to call this BMW stylish. More like 3, 5 and 7's illegitimate crackhead brother.

The i3 sucks short range and overpriced

Too many compromises and weird design choices in that car. Especially the doors. EVs don't need to look weird, this one just does.
