    The brown cars were off-loaded from Asian ships at Everett, a few miles north. They are "high and wides" which required BNSF to relocate signals and such to accommodate them,. They were being switched out here at Mukilteo for transport up Japanese Gulch to Boeing's Everett plant, the steepest railroad grade on the continent. It's so steep, the locos push the cars up, rather than pull them to prevent runaways. Those cars contain a variety of fuselage sections.
    The 737 fuselages are made in Wichita and usually run on the front of freights to minimize damage due to coupler slack/run-ins, more severe at the rear of trains. They are run into Renton from Seattle on special trains called the "Renton Rocket".

      Greatdome99 I thought those brown cars sometimes come from Kansas as well since the same company produces parts for the 767 and 777, the cars from Asian ships I thought came into Mukilteo and were unloaded at the port which would explain the white containers at the beginning of the video, especially since this is a mainline freight to most likely Seattle, I would think for such a short haul they would use a local for that... I could be wrong though I don’t know for certain.

    The 737 next generation cigar fuselages you see are manufactured at Spirit Aero Systems in Wichita Ks. At full capacity they were once built at a move rate of .875 a day. They are loaded onto the rail cars via 2 overhead cranes.

      Thanks for the insight. Very interesting indeed and it was nice to see it being delivered again for final assembly.

    I've always wondered if Boeing has had any incidents where crackpots take potshots at the fuselages with a rifle or pistol. It's a long trip from Wichita to Renton with a lot of stops in dark places.

      @@calvinsaxton9925 That is what I thought but Wichita is out of the way of St.Louis. I don't understand why it would travel from Spirit Aerosystems to the Boeing STL plant.

      @@Jay_Rule I can only say what I know as I'm no expert but I used to see these fuselages roll through st joseph missouri every week on BNSF line. I believe this video here was shot up in Washington state. I've never seen jet fighters transported by rail, only these Boeing passenger fuselages. I have a vid of them rolling thru st joe on my channel.

    That was cool! How long did this process take. I wonder if he had to haul everything up the hill to the plant in shorter train sections. Cheers, Dan

    • @chanchan523
      @chanchan523 6 лет назад +1

      Danny Holt he doesn't go up the hill those go to the Renton plant they are part of the 737 plane

    • @Headbob1969
      @Headbob1969 6 лет назад +3

      They take the cars up the hill with a couple of GP 38-2s that have been modified with heavy duty brakes. Its usually 5-10 cars at a time. They push the cars up from behind so they don't have any runaways and they still use a caboose on the uphill end as a horn platform. They also get container loads loaded with fuselage panels at that pier and load them on to well cars and special flat cars. Anything that's a wide body (747, 767, 777, 787) goes to the Everett plant and single aisle stuff (737, 757) goes down to Renton. At the top of the hill is a working turn table since some of the cars only have doors on one end and have to be turned before they get unloaded. Pretty neat operation.

    I can explain this whole video without watching it. They load the fuselage onto a flat car, drive it to the river and dump them in and let them float downstream like logs for whitewater rafters to guide downstream to the plane mill.
