Never heard of UBR but I'm really like that brand. Also have the Canada Goose Wyndham jacket for 2 years now and I like it a lot
Really appreciate you getting back to me about the Onyx moose knuckle jacket I suggested. I bought it before this review and have 0 regrets. I got the puffer also retailing at $1395 on Black Friday for $800 after taxes. I bought a size small which is true to size but no room for layering which isn’t necessary since this thing is warm and it doesn’t make you sweat either. My only complaint is the fox fur trim. Maybe it was just mine or it was shipped to me after a couple people tried it on but one side looks puffier than the other. Maybe it was just made that way or some fur ripped off? Either way it looks great and isn’t too noticeable.
@@thedevilhimself6557 It def is a super warm jacket that you dont need to layer underneath. Hmm interesting about the fur, it could be inconsistent fur length also. but anyways, its an awesome jacket for the winter indeed 👌
agree
Rab and North Face seem the best value? I got the rab one recently for £140 from their factory shop. The 1395 first jacket? How can that get such a high value rating? Plus Moose Knuckle means something much different in the UK😂 Canada Goose are stupid. Over priced… like Moncler. Would be interesting to see how Patagonia and Arc’Terycx stand up.
Appreciate the huge effort and quality of this vid❤❤. KEEP IT UP
You are a total HERO to cold people like me everywhere on the planet!! Thank you so much for standing outside and often being really cold to let us know which coat is worth the cost to stay warm and cozy!
Warmth test is so helpful! Appreciate you standing outside 10 times lol
AWESOME VIDEO!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE
Appreciate all the work you do my guy. Your warmth test is extremely helpful when you're considering purchasing a winter jacket. I have a Parajumpers Kodiak jacket. It's basically the same as the Gobi, but it's a parka style that goes past your thighs. I might look into that UBR brand. Moncler, Mackage, Pajar, Stone Island and Nobis are some other brands I'm interested in. Thanks again for the content
Parajumpers Kodiak look like a great option. I'm not too big of a fan of the low waisted Gobi. Will look into Stone Island and Nobi for part 3. Thanks for the support!
@@MensFashionFilesmy guy wanna try a Abercrombie ultra parka from 2018 or 2019
Congratulations for the detailed video!
I’m really impressed that although you live in Canada you choose to leave Arcteryx outside the competition
Did not forget about them! Arcteryx featured here: ruclips.net/video/dPPiAN4gO9w/видео.html
Excellent video and comparison. I wish you had also tested the Patagonia down jacket.
What an excellent video, bro you really explained it well and i know and understand that a lot of the big brands just sucking the money out of us. Big up Orloay, Rab, Parajumpers and Fjallraven. keep up these excellent videos.
Thanks for watching! let me know if you have any brand recommendations for part 3
Thanks so much for reviewing RAB. I don’t have the same model that you showed but it looked good on you. I am the person that mentioned it in comments of last video.😊.I live in Wi and walk my dog in very cold temperatures. It is below zero here often in winter. I always have to layer with Basellayers like underarmour or helly Henson. Never just a t shirt
I think the UGR looked super great on you. You should keep that one. Thanks for this video as winter jackets are very important to me ❤️
Thanks for the recommendation! I've been to WI once and yes you definitely need a good down jacket there. Let me know if you have anymore recommendations for part 3 😊
i cant believe i havent seen your channel before i love these reviews keep it up man!!
Thank you!!!
Great review and good job! I'm a new subscriber and now checking out your other reviews, keep up the good work!
appreciate the support!!
That was a very comprehensive report! Thanks for putting in all the hard work. This is very helpful for me in choosing the best winter jacket for my son😊
glad I can help!
I have had a mountain warehouse (polar expedition) jacket for 8 years in alberta, its kept me warm in -60°c. I literally trust my life with this thing, my north faces feel so light and airy, definitely not as warm as the Mountain Warehouse one though.
Which one is polar expedition? How much is it?
I was shocked to see some of the prices these jackets retail for. I own 3 winter down filled coats; a North Face, Wind River and a Sear's Alpine Tech brand. All of these coats are 10 to 15 years old and are quality made and still look new and I don't believe I paid over $600 for all of them combined. Times sure have changed when it comes to cost.
Amazing! Thank you for all the effort! Would you consider doing another video comparing “Outdoor Vitals NovaPro”, “Patagonia” and “Arc’teryx” equivalent jackets?
Yes I was also curious of his opinion of the last brand but it was not included. Arc'teryx looks a little different, it doesnt have the quilting on the outside
Actually, I really liked the 'noise test' in your previous video. Noisy jackets drive me bananas. I thought it was very detailed of you to include the 'noise' aspect, which makes your reviews better than other reviews.
Wow you're actually the first person that's told me that lol. Glad to hear that though, I may bring it back for part 3 this winter then
Great video! UBR makes really great jackets. Living in Norway we are used to poor weather and these pieces are great. I love the brand so much that I’ve got a filled coat and an unlined trench coat in addition to my parka. Today it kept me nice and warm in snow storm 😊 A huge benefit of these jackets is that they’re pretty much waterproof, while looking really sharp at the same time. Much better than my pieces from Canada Goose.
Will UBR jackets last long ?
@@FahimKhan-ov9ki , my parka holds up pretty well after two years of wear.
Also Mamut, Jotner,Montane all worth a mention.
Your parka and jacket videos are fiya!!! The brands you feature should sponsor you with free merch
Appreciate it man!! Still waiting for sponsors from canada goose and north face haha
I just got a NF McMurdo for Xmas. There is are a couple of differences between yours and mine but honestly its by far the warmest jacket i have ever had.
I live in Scotland so it brilliant for the winter.
Great vid bro 👍
What differences? I have what i think is the McMurdo 1 from their official website. What are the differences with the McMurdo 2? Couldn’t find any lol. I live in Italy and yeah it keeps me warm very well.
Was thinking on maybe getting one of their Puffer jackets too.
I heard the mcmurdo 1 is thicker and heavier while the mcmurdo 2 is a bit lighter because of material change
@@xterno500 mine has click buttons on the storm flaps while this one has velcro. My cuffs are slightly narrower and the down power is on 550 while this one is 600.
I would highly recommend this jacket.
@@MensFashionFiles yes i ready somewhere that the McMurdo 2 isn't as durable. Don't know if thats true or not.
Great video bro!!
@@MensFashionFiles I buy and sell north face jackets on ebay. For McMurdo as a rule, the older the jacket, the thicker and better made it is. the worse version is the latest version !. cost cutting..profit ...etc. the best version was Mcmurdo 1. unbelievable construction and quality.
Watched your previous video last year, this year one is even better ! Great job ! If possible, please include Lululemon cold city jacket in your next episode...cheers...🤪
Appreciate it man! I will keep that in mind for part 3 👌
Nice video. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. Appreciate you doing this. Of these jackets or any others you've tried on, which one do you think would fit best for someone short but muscular? I am 5'7 and 200 pounds. My chest is 49 inches, shoulders, arms, and back are rather large for my height as well. I'm having trouble finding a parka that fits without having to go to a XXL which at my height, looks ridiculous since it hangs down so low. Thanks
The big poket in the marmot jacket is to pack it small +1 point for functionality.
Hi There. Thank you for the great review. Where is the UBR jacket made? If you can please include where the clothes are made in your future, that would be awesome! Thanks.
I work up in the arctic and I have a Canada goose resolute and a North Face McMurdo. They are both great and have done well in -40c while working but the Canada Goose is more for standing around
good info!
Best jacket review’s. I think I’d go with the moose knuckle’s!
For this year, please add the Columbia line as well which is very widely used by a lot of folks in Toronto and across Canada.
Thank you for the video brother 🙏👑🔝
Guys, my suggestion to you is a Mackage Kendrick Jacket and it is by far the warmest jacket i've ever bought in my entire life.
Eddie Bauer has a line that is the best price to quality ratio Try their “superior down” line. They have a bomber, a parka and a coat. Bomber is the shortest and coat is the longest. They use 650fp down (rds certified) at a ratio of 80/20. The outer shell is durable, waterproof and fully seam sealed. The liner doesn’t leak down. They have the baffles on the inside so no cold air leaks through the jacket. They have a lot of down. They have cargo pockets that fit a pair of gloves and a hat or neck gaiter, as well as hand warmer chest pockets. Their bomber is warmer than the Canada goose Chilliwack and the parka is warmer than the Canada Goose Langford. The bomber is good for -5 to -20c (lower even honestly) and ill usually wear the parka is anything below-20c. I wore the parka in -45c/-49f with a trappers hat and balaclava, heavy mitt. Baselayers, jeans and a wool sweater and i was hot in there. The bomber is 379$CAD but is alway on special. On Black Friday or boxing day it can be bought for 135$-170$CAD. The parka is 400$ full price but again he’s always on special and can be bought for C$200-C$270 on Boxing Day or Black Friday. For those prices, it is unbeatable. Not all the jackets are as good or as warm though. Their women’s Superior down line doesn’t have as much down in them. They have other jackets for women that are warmer. Hope this helps someone who is looking for a canada goose quality or higher jacket for the lowest price possible.
Thanks for your valuable information..
Also the seamless design on the Eddie bauer Glacier Peak jacket is not for looks but rather to prevent wind and water from seeping into the stitching that you see on traditional quilted puffer jackets.
Btw they have a longer version of that jacket. Same name but it’s a parka instead of jacket. Again though, for a winter jacket that covers you in the coldest temperature is your life later encounter in the city/urban life, I recommend the Superior a Down Parka or if you want something shorter, their “superior down bomber” jacket.
good info, you have a lot of down jacket knowledge for sure! Let me know any other jacket brands you're interested in that I can feature in part 3 👌
@@AlexanderMason1What about cotopaxi stellar and mountain hardwear [800]
@@Lord_Don Cotopaxi makes really good jackets but are honestly a bit too expensive for me. They’re also more of a thinner down jacket, not appropriate for Canadian winter. they do use a higher power down but that doesn’t equal it being warmer than a lower power jacket. A low fill power jacket can be just as warm as a higher fill power jacket. It’ll just need more down to accomplish that so it will weigh more.
@@Lord_Don mountain hardware also makes high-quality jackets, but they’re more for climbing and mountaineering. it depends on where you live I guess but I find thinner down jackets are more for late fall here in Canada.
My Pj's jacket is very similar although it has an arctic fox fur hood (real fur) Ive had it for 6 years (€600) living in Finland it's a perfect jacket although too hot really - 35 not a problem you could be outside all day long. - 8 you are sweating to be honest, walking around a shopping mall you are litterally melting. I think it was made for extreme cold (-20 and below), but hey it looks cool. But even living in Finland it doesn't get cold enough to wear it all the time in the winter.
Great... Thanks for your detail information... Please make a video on heatech uniqlo marino wool 250 base layer and other base layer comparison for canada severe cold weather... Thanks a lot
Picked up two surprisingly good winter coats on A Touch of Modern but have not seen them in your reviews. What are your thoughts on the Toboggan brand and Point Zero Gold Edition?
Definitely gotta do more reviews on jeans but maybe try brands like everlane, Levi’s made and crafted or lvc line, Rev town jeans and G star to see which ones you prefer the most and why, also just be careful with the sizing cause like Levi’s there’s inconsistent sizing in every brand
for sure, will hop back on that after finishing my winter down jacket series
UBR and orolay look like fantastic jackets
The orolay is cheap garbage and won’t keep you warm if you live in Canada.
Need to review the Outdoor Survival Canada Jackets. Supposed to be the warmest available
would love you to review patagonia parkas!
You left the king of puffies out of the test! Patagonia!
Good review 👏
appreciate it!
nice video👋👋👋 next time go for a functional Goldwin gore-tex Hooded Down Coat or a more stylish Nobis Yves parka. hefty price tag but worth it in my opinion.
will do for part 3!
Moose Knuckles look so elegant.
for sure
Great video 👍
Thanks for the hard work but you should compare coats of the same warmth…CG for example…
Wonder if you could test Arc'teryx Veilance jackets, Monitor down would be their best example
please do a wellenstyn stardust test its a very popular jacket over here in germany
Parajumpers last minute down jacket is my favourite, super worm but also slim fit not bulky and stylish. I have a mouse knuckle I love it but it isn’t breathable I feel sticky on cooler days, also have a Pyrenex it’s great feels like a quilt but it’s to bulky.
thanks for the rec! will look into the parajumpers last minute down for part 3
Hi! your vid is great. Can you suggest me the way to clean these jackets? Thank you very much
Nice the only thing about the moose jacket is I don’t think you can wear any other shoes but designer cause the jacket is so clean and high fashion I think Lv or something
Love my Arc'teryx
Try out the Woods Avens down parka super warm and durable for under $400
Don't leave your shoes outside, it affects your core temp cause your feet are cold. Great video!!!
good to know and thanks!
I got a NorthFace jacket and the medium fit too fitted and the large was comfy but seems too big. Are they supposed to fit bigger? Note the shoulder seams line up, the arms length is perfect and so it the waist length. But the sides back and front seem a bit big
great video
What about Wellensteyn? You should do a video about their jackets. They go extra hard for the past 5 years
Mackage edward... ..super stylish and super warm ..I wear it out in -40 Celsius with just tshirt.. also looks better than knuckles
I bought the thrudark breach jacket. Research def pays off
A good British brand too 👍🏻🇬🇧
itd be cool to see uniqlo, decathlon, mtn equipment, and some other cheaper brands conpare
I have a concern about your test. Your hands are in your pockets. That will change the way the coat fits. For the coats with pockets outside of the insulation (eg, Fjallraven), your hands might push the insulation against the part of the body you're testing, thus making the coat seem warmer than it actually is. For those coats with pockets that go underneath the insulation (eg, Marmot), having your hands in your pockets might warm the skin beneath them.
Great video, btw.
I would agree with these rankings. I wish you’d make your comparisons in brand through across the same style of coat. For example, you ding the Parajumpers coat because it’s not as long as the others…but you have their bomber version. Get a parka version like the Kodiak or right hand. Then you compare some puffer coats to parkas as well. So is love to see an all parka comparison or an all bomber or all puffer comparison. Not a mix. Additionally I would compare technical coats to fashion coats. They are very different. I’d stick with one or the other for you me comparisons. Finally I’d love to see some other brands like mackage and montcler added in…but don’t do their puffers….do their parkas and bombers (non-puffer style bombers that is). Then there are other less common brands like woolrich and nobos that would be cool to see compared as well.
so would you have put moncler on this list if you had one ? or would you not even put them there. ? also great vid bro. keep em coming
Appreciate it man. Ive never tried Moncler before so im not sure where I would rank them. I'll make sure to include them in part 3
Waiting on my Ralph Lauren RLX parka it's original price was $1,350 and I got it for $835. Next year will get a Moose Knuckle next I want at least 5 parkas. I have 6 ACG jackets and 4 of them are Gore Tex. How tall are you I noticed you got a medium. I'm 5'5 I think I may need to get a small.
Outdoor Survival Canada. Even warmer than the Moose Knuckle that i have.
I heard a lot of great things on OSC. Will feature that in part 3
@@MensFashionFileslook forward to information on OSC . Enjoy your reviews 🙏🏽
Nice review, thinking about buying a parka and still debating between a TNF and a Columbia. How tall are you, if you don't mind to answer? I'm 5'7 155lbs so I'm just curious.
both TNF and columbia are great choices, im 5'10, 155 lb
A fair comparison would be Eddie Bauer's Superior Down Parka in this video
What about the RAB Batura which is their top end jacket but at a cost of 520
where’d you get the T shirt from. Super clean & also looks thick and comfy 👌🏽
By far my favorite tee! It's the Uniqlo oversized AIRism, check out my full review here: ruclips.net/video/1D8BdGFi_Cs/видео.html
Have u try uniqlo pretty funtionable good quality compare to the price
FJ RAV looks awesome
You need a different Canada Goose model. I have Moose Knuckle and CG and both perform amazingly well. With the recent winter storm we had I wore the CG Emory out in -26 wind-chill with only a t shirt underneath. You shouldn't be getting any chills in any of these jackets at 40 degrees. 40 is way to warm for a down parka.
thanks for the rec, I tried the expedition parka last year and it was way too warm so I chose the wyndham this year. Will look into the emory for part 3 👌
thx man
Moose Knuckles make the best quality jackets period. It's no contest.
Which year was the parajumper bought?
Just get an outdoor vitals nova pro jacket. 850 down with hydroponic down for $200
Why dont you have a Woolrich-Parka in your test?.. Do you have any experience with that Brand?
Sound test is crucial! Noisey jackets are a Pain
Can you review Parajumpers lexer men
There's a big variance in the weight/ warmth rating for these jackets. Rab Valiance is a mid-weight jacket not comparable to the rest. Rab Arctus or Expedition 8000 are more comparable.
The CG parkas equivalent to the Moose Knuckles or North Face are TEI 4 eg the Langford.
Fjallraven has a non Lite Expedition jacket, puffy all to hell though.
Rab Arctus or Expedition 8000 are in another league, the same of the expedition parkas by Canada Goose or Fjallraven expedition down jacket, osc mission, nobis Condor extreme and other expedition jackets from other brands, by far too warm and not suitable as citywear. For exampke, Fjallraven has also polar parka and the out of production expedition down parka n°1, very big and heavy parkas with box wall construction and a lot of down inside. The expedition down jacket has two stitched offset layers for eliminating cold spots. But they are not stilysh at all 😁
Hello what brand are the cargo trousers you wear with the white moose knuckles jacket please.
it is from BlackTailor, check out my full review here: ruclips.net/video/U_ljKJIxeX4/видео.html
NORRONO company needs to be added from Norway . So that we can have FJallraven from Sweden comparisons
Good call 👍🏻
Dude forget the jackets , where can I buy those pants
A very comprehensive review of each jacket, but it's not really a fair test to compare a jacket costing $1,300 against one costing $400 if the manufacturer of the $400 jacket has more expensive, and much warmer, models in its range.
Most people won't say "What's the warmest 750 FP down jacket I can buy?", they'll say "What's the warmest jacket I can buy with whatever money I have?", so cost is a much more important factor and therefore a much better way to select models for comparison. For way less than $1,300 you could buy a down jacket literally suitable for an Everest summit attempt from some manufacturers. I know this because I own one.
Have you heard of Nobis? They would be right up there with Canada Goose and Moose Knuckles...
will feature nobis for part 3 👌
It's a shame how this video isn't getting a lot of views.
the struggles of being a small youtuber...😢
Hey can you advise me on size? I am looking to buy a Canada goose lodge jacket,
Am 5ft6 weighing 163 lbs
go M
Could try superdry jacket and see how that compares
will do for part 3
I like the video but all of these jackets owe a nod to Patagonia which you did not include. can't beat $150 for the Orolay
What about Columbia? They make down jacket as well.
The Parajumpers looks like it was taken straight out of Cyberpunk 2077.
Moose Knuckles 3Q is King. Only jacket you feel is actually worth the price tag. North Face is second considering every other brands coats don’t justify the price tag. Just my humble opinion though.
That is a Cricketbat with an Axe tied to it on the Moose Knuckles Onyx 😂🤣
I wish you tested nobis. It’s a brand created by the ex vicep president of Canada goose. It is slightly more expensive than Canada goose on average but much higher quality.
Nobis was on my list but will feature them in part 3
Western mountaineering ftw
I know you don't do the noise test anymore, but I have found a jacket material that is somewhat noisy Pertex Quantam it is not what I would call quiet. I have it in a RAB Zero G down jacket.
how are you liking your RAB jacket?
How tall are you If I may ask? Got me a Moose Knuckles 3Q jacket in size M. It is quite long but I am also only 1. 75m tall. I don't know if it would be shorter in size S.
I'm 178 cm, check out my down jacket review from last year, I reviewed the 3Q size small and talked about the length: ruclips.net/video/cSdMBn-VStQ/видео.html
Nobis is pretty good.

It really does depend what you’re going to do when you wear these coats. The best Down jacket is not necessarily down to how warm it is.
Some of the jackets on the test are low activity level ‘Town’ coats such as Canada Goose and Moose Knuckles & North Face etc, they’re very good at keeping you warm and of course they have that all important logo for those to need to be seen wearing a coat from an expensive brand (though their animal welfare ethics and standards Leave a lot to be desired). If all you’re going to do with them is pop to the shops or watch a sports match then they’ll do the trick.
But there are brands like Rab and Fjallraven that are more dedicated to higher output activities in the outdoors, which include hiking, mountaineering, etc. This is when the jackets weight and breathability are just as important as their warmth. Most of the ‘fashion’ coats would be too warm for most more to hike in and would be impossible to compress into a backpack, should you not need them.
You deserve a lot of credit for all this, a waste for me because I reside in southern Florida.
It’ll be useful when you come visit the east coast in the winter!
