Great idea. Similar to the “outside pocket on a sash” that women wore in the 1800’s. Love this and my mind is whirling trying to come up with idea to improve access while out n about, without undoing the security feature you built in. Thanks sew much!!
Very clever and useful idea and simple construction. I loved the alliteration: "A pickpocket-safe pocket - perfect for predators when you are on vacation".
Great and simple viable solution! If you didn't want the light fabric to be so obvious on your black belt, you could use a dye (like Dritz)and dye the fabric, brown or black to better blend in with your belt color! Thanks for another clever idea and great tutorial❣️
Great Idea!! I would put a zipper on the bag below the belt to be able to access what's inside without taking off the the bag. Thanks again for sharing your ideas!!
As far as security it really wouldn't be a big deal because most security points like airports and court houses require you to remove your belt and shoes and hat and jewelry as you go through the metal detectors so you would just take that pocket off at that time. How ever if you have you money in it and want to access it while at a restaurant or a convenient store it would be a bit awkward to have to take your belt off even if it is just partially to gain access to your money or credit cards. So some kind of easy access point would be a good Idea but I would think a zipper would be a bit uncomfortable inside the pants.
Once again a great idea Laura. I have a problem carrying my mobile phone around as I don't have clothes with pockets. I recently did a similar bag, using a belt and made loops on the bag to fasten to the belt. Some times I tuck the phone inside my trousers, but I have to be careful if I go out, and the phone rings at unfortunate times. Great fun watching your videos. Thanks. Judy
Very creative idea! I have to laugh because Laura reminds me of an antiques owner i once worked for who was quite skilled at what we called "playful pickpocketing". It started when, while I was organizing a section, the owner spied some money sticking out of my pocket that I wasn't aware of. With visiting friends watching, she angled up next to me and, with nimble fingers, plucked the cash out while asking, "is this an invitation for me to steal?" I returned the favor when I helped her bring some boxes to her mini-van a couple of days later...I slipped her keys out of her coat pocket while she struggled; when she saw me unlock the door, her mouth gaped open and she said, "I didn't feel your hand in there at all! That's payback for the other day and all of the teasing, isn't it?" We both had a good laugh when I nodded and winked at her. After that, we'd periodically engaged in light-hearted thievery: she'd lift my cell phone out of my back pocket, or I'd pinch an invoice or envelope poking out of a cargo pocket of her pants. Always in jest, there was never any intent to rob on either side, since we liked and were very comfortable with one another. I could have used something like this that day she picked my pocket in front of her friends! Lol
Genius!! Thank you, Laura! I always used to lie in bed at night trying to think up ways to foil those thieving hands. I even contemplated inventing a device that would give them an electric shock. But I'm sure there are children who have been taught/forced to pick pockets and I don't want to hurt them. This is a great idea!
I wouldn't use anything metallic as it would set off the security check point machines, I would use vecro instead. Interesting idea, I would have added different compartments so everything don't clump together at the bottom and bulge out.
Excellent idea👍👍.The only negative that I can see is security might look at that as a quick hidden holster for a Handgun access that is available.🤔🤔 Might take the holster idea to make it a quick easy passport/wallet access ability.

Genius! I can't tell you how uncomfortable and inconvenient those under garment bags are! I am definitely going to make these to use instead of those other bags!
I'm going to use this pattern and alter it a bit since I don't wear belts, I'm going to use the same holes as button holes and add rivets or buttons to the outside waistband (since my shirts cover the waistband) & make it a bit shorter since it would be to only carry my small wallet & cellphone. Wondering for those who wear belts if you could buttons on the backside of the belt and fasten vs flipping it over the belt on the outside?
Just sew the pocket to the inside of your pant waist but leave the edge closest to outside of the pants open so when you flip the pocket out it will be accessible (but not accessible when the pocket is inside your pants.)
Wonderful idea, thank you so much. Could you please make a tutorial on how to do a patchwork jacket for a girl? Want to make it for my granddaughter, she is very girlish and I think that will please her so much.
This is quite good for valuables while you travel, However, I cannot imagine taking my belt off to reach down into my pants to retrieve a passport at the customs desk, or even to pay with my 'hidden' credit card at a restaurant...that would be quite a sight! LOL...:)
Grateful to Almighty God that my airport-enduring years are well behind me, but How I wish I had had one of these cuties years ago ;) Very VERY Clever.
Laura what do you think about putting a zipper in the pocket, towards the bottom or middle of the pocket , zipper facing the pants not the skin, otherwise it might rub against your skin, this way if you need to get into fast you can.
I did think of that too, but I found that when we used it, we just took out what we needed for that day and we didn't need to open it up again. But if it was there you would probable use it:)
Barbara Mason you are correct, but a traveler could pack this on their carry on and when they get to their destination & touring, then take it out and set it up and put it on.
I am going to sew a pocket to the inside of the waist of my shorts so when you put put your hand in your waist it won't go into the pocket but when you flip the pocket outside your shorts you can put your hand in... would also work for a bathing suit for the room key and cash. You could also put a small velcro tab inside the top of the pocket as well but probably not necessary. My roots jog pants have this kind of pocket so I will do something similar in my travel shorts.

or just find a soft black or brown fabric that will match your belt! Or you could have fun and make it with any fun fabric:) thanks for watching
Great Idea!! I would put a zipper on the bag below the belt to be able to access what's inside without taking off the the bag. Thanks again for sharing your ideas!!
Chris B I was thinking the same thing
yes. Maybe need something to unattached it. troublesome if we pass the security system that need open all stuff
As far as security it really wouldn't be a big deal because most security points like airports and court houses require you to remove your belt and shoes and hat and jewelry as you go through the metal detectors so you would just take that pocket off at that time. Eliza -- you might want to re-consider carrying your phone so close to your internal organs.
I think I might use fabric the same color as the belt it will be worn with so it would be less noticeable. Otherwise it is a great idea.
I was thinking the same thing. Better to make it blend in, because that light color sticks out like a sore thumb.
Amazing..this is great for traveling..do not ever stop Tuesday tips!!
thanks:)
That's a big signal you have valuables on you, Laura 😂😂😂
just dont tuck in your shirt
Hey Laura, once again a Super idea and a easy project. Thxs for sharing.

lol great story, thanks for sharing
Another lovely near tongue twister, I was waiting for you to giggle !!! Brilliant video, a needed item these days but so well made, very clever :0)

Why do we spend time thinking in bed!!! we should be sleeping....haha I do the same thing

Fantastic idea, you should patent that!
You have an "ingenious" mind... creative & beautiful as well ....
Consider using security fabric to block electronic theft
Good idea! thanks
What is security fabric?
Liz Turney rfid blocking fabric. I have seen at Nancy notions.and at local quilt shops, it is pricy.

thank you Laura, Im sure this has saved many travellers :) great idea
It's amazing mam. 👏 Thanks for sharing 👍 I appreciate it very much 🙏. Hope to see more videos like this please.
Cool idea, thanks for sharing!
Great idea! Just don't undo your belt in public to get something out of the pocket LOL
Say that three times fast. Another great idea and video. Thanks
Genius! I can't tell you how uncomfortable and inconvenient those under garment bags are! I am definitely going to make these to use instead of those other bags!
Great idea but not for if you need to take money out while traveling, I think. Thank you for this nice idea

Or attach two clips on the pocket that clip down over the waist band of the pants and belt if a belt is present.
Just sew the pocket to the inside of your pant waist but leave the edge closest to outside of the pants open so when you flip the pocket out it will be accessible (but not accessible when the pocket is inside your pants.)
That is sooooooooo awesome!!! Thanks for keeping us safe. Lol. I'm starting mine now!!!!!:-)
Wonderful idea, thank you so much.

Thanks, its a great idea for traveling
What a wonderful idea😃
And....then the cell phone rings LOL. Great idea for anyone traveling with cash !
lol :)
brilliant idea thanks for sharing x

Wish I'd had that when I was young and took a bus trip cross country. I remember taking safety pins and fastening my money inside my pockets. LOL
Thank you very much!
A few days ago I thought about something like that.
Grateful to Almighty God that my airport-enduring years are well behind me, but How I wish I had had one of these cuties years ago ;)
Very VERY Clever.
Merci Laura ! Encore une idée géniale ❤️❤️❤️
This is a must make item. Thanks for the idea!
كلمة الشكر قليله بحقك اشكرك جداا جداااا انا في امس الحاجه لهذه الفكره الرائعه
فعلت ذلك!
I would love it if you could design a travel passport/airline ticket travel case
Great idea! Thanks Laura.
Very good Idea, however it would nice if a Zipper was added to make easier access
Has anyone had recent luck buying the Hobo Traveler Secret pockets with zippers? They were once featured by Andy Lee Graham.
Wow great idea thank you
Good idea thank you for sharing 😊😊
Great idea thank you
Would love to make something like this... But for dresses!
What a great idea, super great, thank you
Good idea.
Thank you Laura.
This is a great idea! How could I use this idea with leggings or shorts? I don’t wear a belt.
I'm still working on that:)
See my tips on the above comments. I have Roots jog pants with a flip out pocket sewn into the waist.
What a great idea!!!!!
Great idea!

Nice, very good idea.....❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
Awesome!!
This is a good idea, but a belt like that has to be taken off to get through airport security.
Barbara Mason you are correct, but a traveler could pack this on their carry on and when they get to their destination & touring, then take it out and set it up and put it on.
Thank you for the video
she's beautiful
Very clever!
What a great idea
Can you show a feminine anti pick pocketing way? I wear my pants and shorts very tight so this wouldnt work for me 😔.
I'll still working on one:) thanks for asking
I am going to sew a pocket to the inside of the waist of my shorts so when you put put your hand in your waist it won't go into the pocket but when you flip the pocket outside your shorts you can put your hand in... would also work for a bathing suit for the room key and cash. what about if we make a zipper pocket under the belt no one can see it i love all your videoes
Hi how to sew hidden pocket inside of bucket hat
Love it!
Smart
Use a fabric the same color as your belt, or dye it. It will be less noticeable to thieves
How about one for a skirt
How does it actually look and feel while walking around? Do items show up as bulky?
It’s very good.
Smart great 🌟🌟🌟🌟
