      Nascar fuel economy: 2-5 miles per gallon. The old V12 Vantage was about 7mpg, I think. Takes a growler to get those rolling bricks through the French atmosphere at the pace they're going but words fall short when describing the feeling in the chest as they, quite literally, thunder passed.

      @@shayneschultz8793 Accepted though in fairness, that's in part down to the cautions - where the 15-20 mpg they can get there brings those numbers back. Oval Vs Road course must also make a relatively noticeable difference. But with around 10% of Nascar laps being under under caution, there's a fair chunk to gain there and potential to make the numbers look better, when averaged out across a race. In race trim and actually racing, well, in my brain at least that 8-10mpg feels averaged out but my brain is a funny place, so I shall make no claims..

    As an American who watches NASCAR on a weekly basis, I've admittedly gotten used to the sound of the NASCAR Cup Series Next-Gen Camaro, but hearing it reverberate through the french countryside is truly orgasmic, and I want to know what Hendrick Motorsports did to make the car so fast, as it's the fastest GT car at the Circuit De La Sarthe

    • @Christopher_TG
      @Christopher_TG Год назад +161

      They kept the base body, engine, transaxle, and chassis, but they moved the engine back and down, replaced the fuel-cell with a long-distance tank, added a lot of aerodynamic surfaces, and pulled out 500 lbs. of weight. They've also changed the horsepower limiter so it's puts out substantially more power than the base Cup car. The modified car is about 8 seconds faster per lap around the Charlotte infield road course than the unmodified Cup car. It's so good that, honestly, it makes me think that maybe NASCAR should use some version of it as a road course package. If road courses are going to be a bigger part of the NASCAR calendar, maybe NASCAR should have a package for those tracks.

    5.9L pushrod V8 based of the Chevy smallblock, 5 speed sequential transaxle, and the base body components. That is the only thing this car has in common with the Gen 7 stock car that it’s spawned from.
    The G56 entry is ~600lbs (~270kgs) lighter than the standard cup car.
    Has a larger front splitter and rear decklid spoiler.
    Hasbeen outfitted with dive planes front and rear.
    The fuel cell is larger and has been moved from the trunk into the center section of the car directly behind the driver.
    The engine has been moved further inward and lower into the chassis.
    The driver has all the electronic aids that the GTE cars have. TC, yaw control, an adjustable diff, fuel mapping, the works.
    To quantify things; when compared to the standard Cup series Camaro, the G56 entry is 10 seconds faster per lap around the Charlotte infield road course.
