      Regards to the apprentice.
      That's a tough call. Granted it's their first day, but it's not a good sign when she didn't understand the context of the cabletie instruction when the example of what to do was right in front of them on the existing cables.
      I had an endless parade of apprentices under me. It was staggering how little they understood the most basic concept of simple mechanical world they live and now choose to work in.
      About 60-70% were never going to make it. About 8% of remainder would turn out as a good Journeyman. The rest turned out mediocre.

    I remember years ago when I was younger, more flexible, and thinner (that's important). I started originally repairing computer-controlled turret punch presses and there were some repairs requiring crawling in some tight areas. Moved on to maintain computer-controlled printed circuit board drilling machines. Way less dirt, but high-speed drill sounds and not the thump of those presses. The press repairman was somewhat larger, read FAT, and every so often I was called to that area to service something he couldn't reach (get to as the area was too small for him. He finally quit as his replacement was thinner than me, thank those who oversaw technicians.

  • @fyremoon
    @fyremoon Год назад +2

    My questions are: are these chargers tamper proof? There isn't much point in RFID tags if the unit can be physically bypassed. Either through the logic board or tapping into the 3 phase supply directly. Are these chargers on a time clock so they only work in working hours only? I noticed the screws were pozidrive to fix to the wall, would coach bolts be a better choice, so the nuts are on the inside and no head is visible outside. A spot of thread locker will prevent them from being loosened externally, as electricity theft may lead to vandalism and charger theft.

Only ever seen that type of baskets used for going vertical or snaking through tight spaces, where a cable ladder won't do the trick.

    With Andersen having gone into adminstration recently, their apps are at risk of not working before too long, rendering their chargers "dumb", or worse: "locked".
    I'm guessing thats the risk with all EV chargers that need an app to program scheduling or any other operation / configuration.
    With that in mind, do you leave slack in the wiring to accommodate any replacement charger easily? Do you think that app based controls for electrical products will end up getting a bad reputation if more companies go bust?

      It happens , I’ve done similar stuff myself , it’s a numbers game really and the more work you do, the greater the chance of mistakes. The Key is to own up to the client and resolve ASAP , well done Cory , exactly the right approach👍 You didn’t need to show your mistake there you could have edited it and no one would be the wiser so hats off to you 👍👍

    Would you say Zaptec are the best chargers Cory?

    • @corymac
      @corymac  Год назад +2

      There isn’t a ‘best charger’ in my opinion. This particular charger fit this job perfectly, and fixed the problem. However in some instances and situations you may need a different setup. For domestic setups right now I lean towards MyEnergi for their whole home approach and solar diversion. For commercial and if you need monta compatibility, it’s Zaptec Pro.

    What's to stop a criminal from stealing the Zaptec unit and/or plugging into the mains connector behind it?

    • @MrAdopado
      @MrAdopado Год назад

      The Zaptec will not be particularly useful. It is a smart charge point that communicates over the internet ... once stolen it can easily be deactivated. Someone might be able to get it working as a dumb charge point but there are easier ways ... so it's not an attractive target.

    I think you need to work on your accents Cory, intro went from Middlesbrough to Glasgow in one breath ;-). We have the Zaptec's at work. They suit the use case of Work Place or Multi Residential very well by having individual logons.
    The 'Back Office' web portal shows who charged when and by how much allowing individual billing if required, it is very easy to make an RFID available for visitor or guest use. Love the dog she's great

    Puzzled why you used armoured and not H07RN-F? SWA's are a pig to install on most EV charge points which is why I suspect you've used an adaptable box on the internal wall. How does the Open Circuit PEN Protection work on a three-phase supply? This is not criticism, just observation and a simple question. Have you had a look at Easee, also based in Norway? Great video, I wish I could take my apprentice to work a bit more but he's always filthy and I don't like paw marks in my EV 🐶🐶

    Nothing like a bit of glamour on a channel to attract all the men of culture ! If Cory could persuade his beautiful friend to take up the position of apprentice, the channel would show all the competition who’s the real daddy! Cory is without question THE most charismatic sparky on RUclips. A “glamorous assistant”, especially one so lovely as our friend here is just what his channel needs to take it to the million+ subscriber level!
    PS. The puppy is lovely too but sadly she won’t have quite the same effect.
    PPS. That’s the worst Mackem accent I have ever heard! 😂😂. Don’t give up the day job!!
